    Pavillion under construction

Nice white sand beaches that stretch out to the Ocean. The public beach area runs about 2 miles and is clean and well kept. As of September 9, 2025 they'll be working on the Pavillion so the sidewalk is closed but there's still beach access. Paid parking in the lots or on the street will run 3-$4 an hour depending where you park and you can pay via mobile app. Parking on A1A is available but usually full. There are a few lots close by. Plenty of restaurants and shops close by.

A beach that is less busy than Ft Lauderdale Beach and much prettier and modern than Hollywood Beach with a noticeably weaker homeless presence. My wife and I love sitting on the patio of our favorite beachy restaurants under the sun shade umbrella watching the waves crash and people fighting for that rare parking spot. Today's atmosphere was slightly different than the norm here since it was raining heavily. The entertainment flows east from the railroad tracks on Atlantic Ave across the bridge to sandy Delray Beach. Love the annual arts & craft events and the array of multi-cultural restaurants and boutiques.

Nice public beach. Parking was not bad; the beach was crowded at this time of the year so I guess that explains why parking was not as easy as some reviews mentioned. Many shops and restaurants are close to the beach. Sand and waters were nice. Waves were not as strong as in other places.

Fun times the last few years on Delray Beach. Walked down to the beach today with my hubby and as soon as we stepped foot on A1A the sky turned black and a torrential downpour soaked the area. Went into my favorite place called the Sandbar to seek cover. Listened to upbeat music and hung out with other customers while waiting for the storm to stop and had an unobstructed view of the beach. Uber is a great way to get around since parking spaces are limited.

Really nice beach in a convenient location. Just steps to local restaurants and stores. Clear sand, nice waves, and plenty of space between groups of people. Easy parking.

Dare I say, I could do without beaches- the sand, the heat. It's just not for me. BUT my eight-year-old daughter loves a good beach- the waves, the seagulls, the sandcastles. As far as beaches go, this grumpy man enjoyed Delray Beach. There's easy free parking nearby with plenty of paths leading to the ocean. There are chairs for all to use and the beach is kept clean (for the most part). The beach itself has seashells and plenty of waves. Back by the paths are showers to wash the sand off your feet and body.

Delray beach is such a pretty, relaxing spot. Sand for miles, nice and clean. Also, the location is near to restaurants, bars and shops. I always enjoy my time here and recommend.

Lovely without the spring breakers! Perfect weather. January 2024

Always great weather beyond hurricanes and sometimes too cold. Always clean and great time with friends. What I like most is the historic boardwalk to run walk and hangout.

Spent an amazing Sunday at the beach--perfect weather, not too hot, and the water was just the right temperature. We grabbed a lounge spot for only $15/hr, which worked out great since the beach trip was a spontaneous idea after hitting the gym. It was nice seeing so many families and kids out enjoying the day. The beach has tons of restaurant options too, whether you're in the mood for brunch or lunch--there's something for everyone. We stopped by Pura Vida for brunch and treated ourselves to some ice cream before heading home. With summer coming up, I'll definitely be back!

The Delray Beach Municipal Beach was donated to the City of Delray by the Hunt and Gleason families in 1899. In 1895 Sarah Gleason and her husband's business partner, W.H. Hunt, sold a parcel of land containing the beach area to William S. Linton for about $10.00 an acre. Linton was a congressman from Michigan who came to the area to promote a town called Linton. William intended for a mile long section of ocean property to be dedicated as a public beach. Unfortunately Linton defaulted on the mortgage and the land reverted back to Sarah Gleason and the heirs of W. H. Hunt, his granddaughters Belle Reese and Ella Potter. The ladies honored Linton's wishes and generously dedicated the beach to the public in 1899. A historical marker honoring their donation was erected by the Delray Beach Historical Society in 2008 and there is park named in Sarah Gleason's honor along the beach. The beach is a mile and half long and there is so much you can do here including swimming, surfing, volleyball, sailing, wind surfing, snorkeling, and in the two recreational areas, kite flying, frisbee, and paddleball. The Oceanside Beach Service rents chairs, umbrellas, and cabanas from the City of Delray Beach. Standup paddle craft can be launched from the north and south ends of the beach away from swimmers. The city provide four wheeled surf chairs free of charge to anyone disabled who needs one to enjoy the beach. Unlike Fort Lauderdale which did away with their beachside parking, Delray still has ample parking all along A1A. You can easily pay for parking with an app on your phone. It is so nice that you don't have to carry your gear far. The beach is very clean and is watched over by lifeguards. Ending at the beach is Atlantic Ave filled with all kinds of shops if you forgot something you needed and places to eat a meal, snack, or grab dessert if you get hungry. My favorite thing about this beach is the Delray Beach Historical Beach Walk which begins at the north end of Ocean Boulevard (A1A), near the intersection of George Bush Blvd and A1A. The walk takes you south on A1A, approximately one mile, ending near Causarina Blvd. Along the way you can see historical markers, monuments, and buildings that tell the rich history of Delray Beach. It is a great way to get exercise and learn something at the same time. Along the way you will see that marker to Sara Gleason reminding us that she is the reason why we all get to enjoy an unspoiled view of the ocean in Delray Beach.

Pristine beach area with a vibrant center of galleries, stores, restaurants and throngs if people. We walked in the sand went to the water edge and walked in the surf, nice warm water. Too brief visit, need to come back.

Lovely beach. Always clean and people are nit rowdy. The parking situation is another thing! Since they are renovated both lots, as of March, there is barely any parking if you show up after 11am!!

This is an amazing beach...you must get here by 9:00 a.m. to get a decent parking space at the beach. Otherwise you need to look for a parking lot with meters across the way. It's not a bad walk our game might cost you about $6 for maybe 4 hours. It's not bad. Also you can pay using Park mobile app. If you do not have this, then you should go to the kiosk that is located in the parking lot go ahead and insert your license plate and credit card information. There are places that you can rent a beach umbrella and chairs. I'm not sure how much they cost they're lined up along the beach area. Personally, I just brought my towel, some water and a magazine to relax enjoy the breeze. My neighboring folks have music playing so that's also great to have while you're laying on the beach.

Unfortunately there is not much beach left! Heavy storms late 2023 washed away most of the sand at Delray Beach!
