Nice beach area with lots of sandy spots to lay on, to walk or to access the water. There's the nice pier (free entry for those who want to just stroll) and the nice promenade along the beach for those wanting to stay near the street. Basically, no free parking anywhere. Paid parking can easily be obtained using the Parking APP. There's a paid parking garage across from the Oceanic restaurant. The first time I came to this beach a couple years ago, I was not too impressed because of all the seaweed. Being from Hawaii, I prefer clear clean waters. But, I have since changed my mind after our last visit here. There was minimal seaweed and the waters are so clear. The walk out to the deeper waters is about 30m and the water is cooler out there. This beach is a perfect for families with little children because of the shallow beginning. You can prop a chair right in the water because it's so hot up on the beach. Thankful for some clouds in the sky for a little break. Our last day here wasn't looking too promising because of the stronger quicker waves and seaweed afloat, but after an hour or so it calmed down and it was back to the nice clear waters we experienced on our first days. There's also tons of seashells to collect so bring something to carry them back in. read more

The sand is terrible! So many shells and random stuff in it can you're better off wearing shoes. Even with that, the sand is difficult to walk on. This is not the case when you move south to Hollywood and Sunny Isles -- the sand is much softer and less stuff is in it that doesn't make your feet hurt as bad. One of my favorite beaches to go to in the area. I have a special spot where it is not crowded, always clean, not a lot of seaweed in the water, water is almost always clear.. There's lots of restaurants on the strip, shopping, and the pier. Definitely a good local go to. read more

The beach is lovely! We love coming here. There's so many spots that you can enter from too. There's a area with a restaurant and a playground. Or there's an area near the hotels that's a little more quiet, there's a great pier you can walk down and enjoy some ice cream. There's also big parking lot or street parking. There are so many water activities; jet ski, fishing, surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, there is scuba diving; view the coral or Shipwreck park in the ocean. You won't be bored with all the options to choose from. I loved dining at Beach House Pompano with ocean views and drinking beers at 26 Degrees Brewing. This is a true tourist destination. Lately this has been our go to beach when we come with family. There are so many restaurants. I like to park by the Marriott because there is parking right next to the beach. And walking distance, you have the park right there. It's maybe a 10 minute walk and it's family friendly. And there are more restaurants over there as well. I like to come Between 8 to 10 AM when it's not too hot and there aren't that many people. read more

It looks like a very nice quiet ocean beach in a nice area. There are restaurants and bars nearby. It's also a good place to go fishing off the pier. The pier looks like it has been remodeled and is clean and smooth for walking. We also loved seeing the pelicans flying around, hoping for some treats from the public. This is one of the many free events that the city of Pompano Beach puts on. This was a jazz festival right on the beach next to the pier with many great jazz artists. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy. The parking is a little crowded down on the beach, but they have some paid parking garages that you can use. read more

Pompano Beach is a great spot to hang out when you live nearby. Growing up I lived nearby in Fort Lauderdale. Especially in high school we would go to Pompano to get away from the tourist crowds on our beach. You can find some secluded beach spots if you park and walk around. There was always a 7-Eleven to grab some snacks. The beach was clean at the time I visited, with the exception of tar. Also be careful of the tentacles of the Man of War. If you don't know what they are look them up! I definitely have fond memories of times when I was growing up and when I was still living in Broward County. Pompano Beach Pier comes to my mind as a beautiful place to walk out over the ocean. I lived in this county in Florida for 40 years total. I always went to the beach and I've always loved to be out on any pier. It's great fun to watch the people fishing. It great exercise walking out and back and under the pier. There's seafood restaurants nearby and afterwards a walk on the pier is refreshing. Pompano Beach Boat Parade was always enjoyable because it was not as crowded as other boat parades. My advice is get there early so you can find a parking spot. It's imperative that you dress appropriately for the current weather. Keep your fingers crossed that it's not raining and windy or it may be canceled. Bottom line I find a lot to like about Pompano Beach. On days like today in the city I certainly miss the air quality when I was near a Florida Beach! read more

Came on a Monday evening and it was such a nice walk down the piers. It wasn't too crowded and there was just enough people sunbathing and wading below. I noticed there's a lot of fearless birds and pelicans that eagerly watch the fisherman in anticipation they'll drop some fish. The birds were huge! Pompano area has a lot of cute restaurants and they didn't seem as busy as the Del Ray area. Would definitely come back to spend time in the ocean! read more

One of my favorite places to take a walk. Very few beaches in South Florida have a beautiful walkway that lines the beach. Pompano, is not as busy as some of the other beaches and the restaurants are new and clean. The Public beach starts at A1A and Atlantic Blvd. There's street parking, if you can find a space, and plenty of lots near by. Pay for parking on the app and it runs around $3 an hour. Stroll the walkway and you will find families having picnics, and parties. The Pier is nice and one of the few that doesn't charge. $6 if you want to fish. There's a nice outdoor gym, if you like to work out, and plenty of places to get something to eat. They even have charging stations for electric cars. Beautiful clean white sand beach, it's such a nice place to relax and chill. read more

The overall experience of visiting this beach was nice. Walking the beachside was a little bit of a challenge because it was a slopey and the sand was scorching hot but that's the doing of mother nature. Take comfortable slides or water shoes to walk the scorching hot sand. The beach was very clean and the play area along the boardwalk or pier was clean and the kids appeared to enjoy it. There are a variety of restaurants to choose from, and a nice selection of gift shop. read more

Definitely a place to go when in Fort Lauderdale area! So many nice but affordable local favorite restaurants! The one on the pier is always packed with long line and we looked at the menu prices are great and we peeked at peoples food looked really good! Beeyutiful beach with white sands!. I came to Miami for the holidays and my friend and I decided to visit a much quieter beach. So we choose Pompano. The beach was less crowded with access to many different stores to shop and eat. We were able to relax along the water as if we had the beach to ourselves. It was clean and the water was clear. Pompano Beach has one of the best piers that stretch out into the Atlantic Ocean. It's one of my favorite beaches to visit because of that. I love walking out especially at night. And, I hear it has one of the best dive sites for all you divers interested in a recommended area to go diving. When I want to just relax and enjoy some quiet time I usually end up going down by the rocks which has a few semi-private areas. Some times I like to get in my car and go driving down the beach at night and find a parking spot to settle in to and people watch. Does anyone else find that enjoyable? There are a few really nice restaurants in the area that have beautiful views of the beach and the pier. With convenient reasonably-priced parking, beautiful clean beach and sidewalks, colorful lifeguard stations, body and feet showers, amazing pier, and everyone acts very respectful to one another. There's many restaurants close by; the ones by the pier are very classy. The beach water is shallow for many yards, and then finally drops to chest level as you walk a bit out. Since they revitalized Pompano Beach these last few years, the whole beach area is a great place to be. I enjoy walking at the shore with views of both the pier and Lighthouse Point lighthouse. I was there in the late afternoon and early evening. The light from the lighthouse rotates to light up the area.
