Got up early to go for a walk on the beach and I decided to checkout Deerfield Beach. What a pleasant surprise. There's a paved boardwalk and the view was magnificent. I arrived at 8:21am and it was perfect time because it wasn't a heavy crowd. It was just right and I thoroughly enjoyed my walk. I started by the Deerfield Beach Pier which is right next to the Wyndham hotel on the beach. The were signs on the pavers along your walk that alert you how far you've gone (You're at 1/4 mile). I forgot to take a pic. People of all ages were walking, some jogging and some working out. There was a huge squad on the beach working out. Nothing but beautiful views and a pleasant walk. You can smell the bacon cooking from the nearby restaurants. LOL There's even a fire station across from the beach. I bet those firefighters love their job. Location, location, location. read more

I love this beach. An hour north of Miami you get away from a lot of the traffic and crowds. I've never had a problem finding parking (yes...you have to pay for parking) or has an issue finding a spot to set up on the beach. The crowd here is much more family friendly and a seniors' crowd, but there is always a younger crowd to keep things more "energetic". Look it up and enjoy the wonderful restaurants in the area after a nice day at Deerfield Beach. read more

Move here 17 years ago and have never regretted it. The beach is a clean family beach with plenty of Surfside eating and shopping. While I live west of I-95 I will still claim my rightful place in Broward County as a Deerfield Beach Resident.. ( Long time locals will disagree, but it's mostly in jest...I hope..lol ) The services here are outstanding with garbage pick up twice a week. They even haul away large bulk items for free. The libraries are outstanding with plenty of programs for both young and old and City Hall, for the most part, is easy to navigate. Home prices have risen a bit in those 17 years, but there are plenty of other affordable options if you really want to live here. read more

A slice of paradise amidst the chaos. I usually choose the Gulf side for beaches in Florida, but this beach is heavenly. This beach is situated just below the Boca Raton and above Fort Lauderdale. The vibe is family and laid-back. First off, it's well maintained. Bathrooms, covered picnic table areas, a stretch of grassy seating and trees. There's lots of loungers available to rent. Plus, There's a lot of parking along this (roughly) mile stretch. There's even a new boardwalk to stroll down with a stroller or bike. Along one side of the stretch, our cute little trinket stores, and an ice cream shop and tons of little pubs with taco hamburger offerings. Not to mention all the hotels and cute little clean resorts on the way. We enjoyed this area so much that we've decided we're going to come stay again in the spring. My only note to many of you travelers, would be that the sand is a little hard to walk in. It isn't the cleanest sand either. Still, I believe with all the park employees we observed on our stay, that this might be resolved by our next visit. read more

So this review is for both the beach the pier. Let me get it out of the way and say both are amazing. I recently discovered this area and honestly, I can't wait to come back. The pier is $1 to enter and is much like the one at Lauderdale by the Sea, but fifty cents cheaper for those penny pinchers. It's fun to sight-see and watch the guys on the pier fish and take in the beautiful views of the ocean while the wind smacks against you. I love walking to the end of the pier and looking out and seeing nothing but water. Such a peaceful experience. It's also fun to watch the beach-goers enjoy their day of what is presumably their vacation. Plenty of parking in the area for both the beach and the pier. It'll run you about $2 an hour which is kind of a steal. The beach is clean and wasn't too crowded. It was chilly, but chilly to me is warm for someone living in Boston or Philly so it won't keep them out of the water. It's a short walk to some restaurants and hotels so it's an ideal place for vacationers but also great for locals too. I would totally come here on the regular to hang out and actually I plan on it. Dont' feel like being on the sand? They've got benches to sit on and a trail too! To me this is the perfect beach spot to go to if you want to get away from all the hustle and bustle of Fort Lauderdale and Miami beach. It's truly peaceful here. read more

My photography group set up an outing here this morning to shoot the sun rising over the beach. At sunrise there is plenty of parking next to the Embassy Suites Hotel as well as along the beach. The parking is metered and you need to pay from 6 A.M. on so know your license plate to enter it in the meter and bring change, credit, or debit meter to feed it. It cost $5 for the two hours I was here. As the day goes on there is a lot less parking so the early bird gets the spot. The beach itself has a lot of interesting features to take pictures of. You have the rocks along the sand, the pier to the left and way off to the right is the Hillsboro Inlet Light. I didn't see any public restrooms where we were, the nearest seemed to be north of the pier and were still locked in the early morning. There are a lot of places to eat in this area. We ended up having a lovely breakfast at the Deerfield Beach Cafe. I can't remember the last time I saw a sunrise but watching the sun come up over Deerfield Beach was a beautiful way to start the day. read more

A nice beach area. The sand is nice. Parking is hard to come by. The people that rent the lounge chairs and umbrellas are very rude. We set our blanket up in front of some chairs, not real close. The guy came by and asked if we wanted to rent them, I said no thank you. He asked us to move our stuff because it was blocking his chairs view. I asked if it was a public beach and he got mad and moved his chairs right in front of us and kicked sand on our stuff. Disabled folks get 4 hours of free parking. read more

When I first noted this Yelp entry I was immediately set to wondering why just the beach "South of the Pier," so I had to explore, and yes, there is a distinct difference. North of the pier the restaurants and buildings actually abut the beach whereas south of the pier, there is a roadway in between the commercial buildings and the beach, and the beach has an ornate wave like sidewalk with benches and trees. Deerfield Beach is to me one of the best beaches of Florida, a 5 Star all the way, but if I were going to spend a day on the beach or go for a leisurely walk, I'd hit it south of the pier. read more

It's a nice beach. There's a lot of posted rules, like no smoking, which people ignored, but I did enjoy the beach. We even smelled pot smoke. But the waves were great, the water was clean and we had a good time. read more

I was quite impressed with this pier and the area in general. I came in late in the evening and there was a lot going on. There was still quite a few people on the beach. Many people fishing and just walking around enjoying the view and relaxing. There are many restaurants looking the water, and plenty of parking. Lots of shopping too. I'm a native Floridian, but I've never liked the beach. Shocking, right? Salt water, seaweed, wet sand sticking to you, jellyfish, sea lice... no thank you. A few years ago, my friend invited me to the beach, and I begrudgingly went, only because we hadn't hung out in a while. She brought along beach chairs and umbrellas, and forever changed my opinion of the beach. You mean I don't have to roast in the sun and sweat all day?! I can sit under an umbrella and relax, and just take in the ocean breeze? No, none of that had ever occurred to me before. This was a life-changing moment for me. I still don't go in the water (for the afore-mentioned reasons), but now I do enjoy going to the beach, whether I'm with someone or not. It's relaxing, and you can't beat the view. This beach in particular is my personal favorite (Hollywood comes in second place). I almost hesitate to write this review because I don't want too many people catching on to how great this place is. The parking is never too bad, although the same cannot be said if you go to the popular part of the beach north of the pier. South of the pier, behind Embassy Suites, you'll find Deerfield Beachfront Park, where metered parking is everywhere ($1.50 per hour, only takes coins), and there's a beautiful, small boardwalk as well. The large rocks/boulders on the beach give this place a unique look, and it's gorgeous. There aren't a bunch of raucous, drunk people here either... it's mainly smaller groups of people, families and some of the older crowd. If you're looking for a nice, relaxing day at the beach, this is the place to go :) read more

Over the years I have come to Deerfield Beach to enjoy beautiful days in the sun and great body surfing near the pier. Years ago I would walk across the street for great "beachy" dining at The Wales Rib which still is a great South Florida landmark. Deerfield Beach has also been a great destination for biking from Ft. Lauderdale or Boca and has a great grassy area right before you hit the sand to relax on in the shade. A lot has changed at the beach area of Deerfield. The fishing pier area has all been redone, two restaurants , JB's and Oceans 234 were opened many years ago just north of he pier along the walkway from the beach, with great dining and JB's on the beach has a great outdoor bar area, great for socializing and meeting people. At the beginning of the pier they built a casual place to get food and drink called Deerfield Beach Café where you can order and sit outside on the walkway at the beginning of the pier. All 3 venues have that beautiful ocean front dining and you can walk in right off the beach, pier or walkway and return to your beach activities when you are done. A walk down the pier is really beautiful and overlooks the active beach goers surfing, wind surfing or paddle boarding and if you want to fish off the pier , you can pay $4.00 to fish off the pier and if you need to rent fishing rods, they will charge $15.00 with a $25.00 refundable deposit (just in case you like the rod you rented so much that, well, forget about it). If all you want to do is take a walk down to the end of the pier, they only charge you $1.00 to get on the pier. All this and all overlooks a beautiful sandy beach with 8 volleyball areas which is great for beach volleyball to join in and play with whoever is there. On the South end of the pier as you walk along the beautiful walkway which has new beautiful bricks laid down for 2 miles south of the pier, there are benches along the grassy area next to the brick walkway. Great for jogging or a casual walk from the new pier going south along the condos across the street. The old Howard Johnsons Hotel was replaced with a brand new Wyndham Resort with another beautiful beach front bar across the street from the boardwalk and the beach. Along the beach boardwalk there is pay by plate parking meters which gives you convenient parking if you can get a space along the beach. Try to get down there early. There are also metered lots in front of the pier. This is a beach in which you can spend a whole day. Great jogging, walks along a beautiful brick laid boardwalk, a shady grassy area along the sand going down to the beach , a fishing pier, volleyball and great restaurants and bars that overlook all of it. If you have not spent a day there, I recommend you will not be disappointed. read more

I stayed in Deerfield Beach for 3 nights. I was lucky enough to have a 5 minute walk from Comfort Suites. Every single day and night I would take a walk to the beach, and spend some time there. It was absolutely perfect. The beach was so clean. You can tell that they kept great care of it. I loved how the palm trees lined the beach. Loved how it was just the right amount of people there. At times there were of course more than other times, but still there was so much beach for everyone. The sidewalks next to the beach were nice, and you could always see people being active outdoors jogging, walking and riding their bikes. This beach is not dog friendly, and dogs are not allowed on the side walk next to the beach. They can walk on the side walk across from the beach. The beach side walk leads you to the pier, and the perfect small little Deerfield beach downtown. There is a nice bathroom near the fire station, as well as on the board walk near the restaurants that have the restaurant view. By far, my favorite nice relaxing beach on my mini vacation. Definitely love it, and will be back. read more

It's Supermoon Sunday. I love Deerfield Beach. I love the pier and the sidewalk. The pier is only $1.00 for sightseers and $4.00 if you want to go fishing. They even have rod rentals available. There are many restaurants within walking distance. I like the Patio Bar & Grill at the Wyndham Resort, Burger Craze, Whale's Rib, JB's on the Beach, Burger Fi, Flanigans, and the Bru's room and of course Kilwins. I love their coconut ice cream. If you go further south by the Embassy Suites, the beach is quiet and a little more secluded at Deerfield Beachfront Park. It's away from the touristy hustle and bustle of A1A by the pier. There are huge rocks and a nice boardwalk area with picnic tables. Great for family day at the beach. It's my favorite spot to chill out. They have metered parking right on Ocean Way for about 2.50 an hour. You definitely need coins! If you don't want to hassle with coins, the Deerfield Beach Place garage behind the Bru's room is convenient. I live in Boca Raton and I go to Deerfield Beach often. It's my favorite beach in South Florida. It's relaxing and easy access to all the dining establishments. There is such a laid back vibe and it may feel like a mini staycation. You'll love it! This beach is awesome. Me and my fiancé come here every Sunday on our day off. You can go snorkeling and check out the beautiful reefs close by. Or if your like me you can crack open a beer and people watch. We always bring our own food or you can take a short walk and grab some food by the pier. The lifeguard always seems attentive and ready to prevent any issues. Flags are always put up accordingly as well as water temp and things of that nature. Check out this beach if you haven't been here. Also, it is nowhere near as crowded as by the pier or Boca beach up the street. read more

Wonderful aquatic center. As a young adult I found this very informational as Mike, a volunteer, gave me not only interesting stories, but taught me quite a lot in a short time. The volunteers are very happy here and I can see why. These fish are in GREAT tanks that are very healthy. As a salt water tank owner and avid snorkel this was just a very cool experience to see some beautiful fish. It took us 25 mins to go through everything. Beautiful beach, with easy parking options. There is plenty of parking along side the boardwalk, and also they have large parking lots across the street in several locations along the beach. Parking rates are higher than other beaches ($3/hr), but it is worth it. The beach is kept in really good shape, and there are plenty of options for eating and drinking right next to the pier. Also, if you like to play beach volleyball, there are 8 courts in really good shape just north of the pier. You also have plenty of showers and bathrooms along the boardwalk. read more

A great beach to go to on the weekends that is always comforting, reliable, clean and simply just beautiful. You don't have to worry about any difficulty with finding parking unless you come by for a holiday it may be a bit of a challenge. The parking meters are a bit more expensive than usual... I think about 3 dollars per hour so make sure to take note of that if you will be spending the day out on the beach. What I really like about Deerfield Beach is just the fact that it's not as packed as other beaches. If you do head toward the direction of the pier there's more people by that area since there's bars, restaurants, food options, etc. But it doesn't get crazy packed like south beach so it's definitely very peaceful, and overall a tranquil pretty chill scene out here. I love to come out to Deerfield Beach and crack open a couple cold beers to sit back, relax, and enjoy the view. read more

This beach is absolutely beautiful. You have to pay to use the pier a dollar. But the beaches are clean and pristine and even the showers are located on the sidewalk instead of in the sand so that you're actually getting clean after you're in the ocean. There is nice what looks like Astro turf along the sidewalk in front of the beach and I also walked past a handicap accessible access to the beach which was really nice to see. There are several picnic benches for eating or just for sitting. There's also a restroom at the pier and the area is surrounded by restaurants and bars which makes it a popular place for young people. read more

When I last visited South Florida in January, I had the pleasure of visiting Deerfield Beach many times! Lucky for me, the beach was located right in back of my hotel, which was the Embassy Suites in Deerfield Beach and the only thing o had to do to get to the beach was cross an access road. The portion of the beach where my hotel was located was narrower but less crowded than further north by the Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier, as that is near jetties where the beach ends. However, wherever I was on the beach, I found it to be very clean, with little to no litter and the sand was smooth. By comparison, I find the beaches on Long Island and in the New York City area to be much dirtier, with more litter. In addition, I found the ocean, which I went into many times, to be refreshing and clear, even enabling me to see various species of marine life. In addition to the excellent beach, I found the amenities to be plentiful, as there were picnic huts in between the beach and beachfront promenade, outdoor showers, clean and well-maintained restrooms, and being a public beach, there were also lifeguards who made sure that no one was in trouble. After visiting Deerfield Beach, I can safely say that it joins the ranks of my favorite Floridian beaches and is definitely my top reason for visiting Florida! read more
