This is an 11 acre beach front park located in Boca Raton and it is one of four beach parks that Boca Raton operates. South Inlet is open every day from sunrise to sunset. You pay for parking at a kiosk, $3 an hour for cars weekdays and $4 on weekends. The parking is cheaper than some of the other beach parks in Boca but you can get parking for only $1.50 an hour a little further north in Boynton. The park has 850 feet of life guarded beach. The beach is ADA accessible and a beach surf wheelchair can be obtained from the lifeguards. Park amenities include salt water fishing on the jetty, picnic shelter pavilions and grills, a playground, restrooms, and showers. This park is a popular and inexpensive wedding destination with many couples on the weekend opting to get married at the picnic pavilion which offers views of both the ocean and the Boca Raton inlet. Any beach in Florida is pretty much five stars for me but what makes this one unique is it has a piece of architecture from the 1930's. Originally known as Porte Cochere, it was once located at the Cabana Club's west entrance, and it was part of a structure that provided cover for people exiting their vehicles. In 1981 the Porte Cochere was moved to South Inlet Park. On November 17, 1997 it was added to Palm Beach County's Registry of Historic Places. The Porte Cochere has since been renamed the Eshleman Pavilion in honor of Dennis Eshleman, former Director of Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department

South Inlet Park has a lovely beach with some very nice facilities.  The bathrooms are well appointed and clean, and the whole park area is very nice to look at. On the down side, parking during the high season can be quite challenging, but I suggest that you persevere because a visit here is totally worth the effort! If constantly feeding your hard-earned shekels into the proximate metered parking doesn't make financial sense, then consider buying an annual parking pass.  These don't come cheap, but if you visit often they make total sense.

Back when I was still in High School (many many years ago), we used to refer to the inlet as Bonfire Beach... at least at night time we did. By day, we'd ride our bicycles to the beach and snorkel along the jetty rocks or work on our tans. By night, we'd drive over to the area and park our cars along the roadways in the residential area immediately to the west side of State Road A1A and we'd gather on the beach, some people would collect wood from the trees and we'd light up a bonfire and have a party... back in the day of wine coolers, Boones Farm and MD 20/20. That was a long time ago... Today, I still have a love for this Inlet but it's a different appreciation today. The park is just over 10 acres of land and includes a long stretch of beach along with a forested separation (and vegetated dunes) between the beach and the parking lots (lots of Palm Trees and Sea Grapes). There are picnic tables with barbecues and I believe they have a pavilion or two that can be reserved (probably for a fee). But the highlight of the park is truly it's namesake... the inlet. Boca Inlet is the only access point between the Intracoastal and the Atlantic Ocean to service Boca Raton. The nearest access points for boats are Hillsboro Inlet in Pompano Beach (5 miles to the south) and Boynton Inlet (15 miles to the north). It's great just sit along the seawall where the boats come and go... very relaxing and always a strong breeze to keep you cool (even when a bit too sunny). Or you can walk along the jetty wall that extends out into the ocean creating a jetty wall peninsula between the inlet and the beach area. Along the jetty wall you'll still enjoy the boats but you'll also see plenty of people fishing along the way too. Probably would not recommend snorkeling the jetty wall any more though. Too many dangling hooks from fisherman on the ocean side and I don't know if they permit swimming or snorkeling on the inlet side (due to the extremely strong current that flows in and out of the inlet.

This is a decent little park. I'll bet it's difficult to call the park since there was only one sitting area. There is a very small beach and some jetties to get on. It cost four dollars to park for an hour. But it was cool but really not all that. If you take your children here be extremely careful with them getting on the beaches and on the jetties. There is a serious current at the inlet and the Jenny's are unstable for footing. The child could easily slip and fall and it won't be good.

I lived in Boca for a loooooooong time and driven/walked/biked past South Inlet Park but never bothered to stop here. Enter in one last time in Boca before my family moves away and why the hell not stop here during my last hurrah? I stopped in on Sunday right before the gates closed for parking and was sad to see that parking is $4 an hour---yikes! But I sucked up the $4 and went on my way. The park and picnic areas are gorgeous along with the inlet area. A bunch of people hanging out, fishing, walking, taking snapshots and such. It was a beautiful way to say goodbye to Boca......

My daughter and I love to ride our bikes here! You can see beautiful tropical fish right over the edge . You can walk to the beach from this park and there are playgrounds and areas for parties also. Parking is reasonable.

Just a great place to relax and rejuvenate yourself as this "Winter Vortex" impacts our Nation. It is always nice to find a new spot to gaze out onto the ocean, read a novel and take a leisurely walk... Cheers!

Last Sunday we held our daughter's 15-year party on this site, and it really was fascinating. The place is amazing, we highly recommend it, all the decoration and organization is done by ourselves and everything is beautiful, thanks South Inlet Park

Love everything about this location but the parking is crazy. You have to pay for the day even if you're there for an hour.

What is left of it makes for cramped seating unless you are willing to walk, which we did, but had we been with our in-laws it would not have been that easy. Also the stairs and walking path seems as if they are falling apart. Need some remediation and a good paint job. Positives are still showers and restrooms. And easy metered parking right across the street. Very sad to see.

I get that someone needs to be here to open it but this was a disappointment. Once I did find a spot to park, it was a nice walk through the mangroves and along the boardwalk over the dunes to the beach. I found a seat, probably trespassing from one of the communities but the chair was comfy. With my coffee in hand, I was here for over an hour as the Sun slowly came over the horizon. I was undisturbed. Other beachgoers walking back and forth but folks seemed to get my vibe and did not approach. There is a beached sailboat here since December. Maybe it's still here when you visit. It made for some fun photos. There is a bathroom facility and a beach shower and a picnic pavilion. Parking across the street requires feeding a meter. Don't forget that. The parking is limited and on what could be a busy road, but whenever I have gone on a weekday morning, the traffic is little, with plenty of spaces and plenty of time to make a u turn to get into a spot. App parking makes it easy. The distance from the sidewalk to the ocean is pretty long, and right now there has been dredging and there is a large shelf separating the shoreline from the sandy beach. It took forever for us to find parking, so we ended up doing valet near this beach. I was sunburnt from the day before so was on a quest to find an umbrella to rent. Thankfully, Oceanside rentals came in clutch with a $32 umbrella only all day rental. We liked this beach a lot because of the calm water. We also appreciated that there was less seaweed and calmer water than Boynton Beach's Ocean Front Beach Park. The surrounding green was gorgeous. Where we entered there was a giant pipe though that smelled a little like cigars, but we sat far enough away for it not too bother us too much. If you don't mind walking a bit for parking, this beach is a great pick.

Hillsboro Beach is a tiny Florida coastal town set on a peninsula between the Intracoastal and the…read moreAtlantic Ocean. Interestingly it has a connection to English nobility. The town was named after the Earl of Hillsborough, who was given land in Florida from the King of England after the First Treaty of Paris was signed where England gave up Cuba and the Philippines to Spain in exchange for receiving Florida. Hillsboro also has a rich history with the Barefoot Mailmen. The Barefoot Mailmen were eleven US postal workers who delivered the mail in South Florida from 1885 to 1893 by walking barefoot on the beach from Palm Beach to Miami. Before the mailman started the route, a letter from Lake Worth to Miami could take anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months to arrive and would be routed through Cuba. The annual salary of a Barefoot Mailman was $600 a year. The trip started on Monday and took three days to get to Miami, Then they would turn around and come back for a round trip of 136 miles. Eighty miles were walking and fifty six miles were by boat. The three day trek down the coast was not without it's danger. You can find a Barefoot Mailman statue in front of the Hillsboro town hall dedicated to James "Ed" Hamilton who mysteriously vanished in 1897 while crossing the Hillsboro Inlet. The mystery of what happened to Hamilton is fascinating. Was he eaten by an alligator, killed by native people, or did he drown? No one will ever know. Although Hillsboro Beach is small in size at only a little over three miles and 900 miles at its widest point, it has a lot of charm. The only road through town is A1A and here it is nicknamed Millionaire's Mile for the mansions that line it. The most prominent feature of the town is the 1907 Hillsboro Lighthouse which you can tour monthly with the Lighthouse Preservation Society. The beaches in town are all private. You can go to North Ocean Beach Park in Pompano Beach to the south or Deerfield Beach Park to the north. Hillsboro Inlet Park is a nice place to picnic and get a great view of the lighthouse. I always enjoy driving through this stretch of A1A when heading up the coast.
