One of the movers later stated that he had noticed damage to the TV box when he unloaded the tv from POD but did not bring it to my attention at the time, which was very disappointing. However, the owner Joey, took the situation seriously and handled it with genuine empathy and accountability. I was extremely frustrated from the move (it's really a lot to handle) and Joey was kind and patient as he listed to me explain what happened. He suspended the team member involved, made it clear that he wanted to put the customer first, and worked with me to make things right. After I provided the original receipt for my TV, he sent me a check for its full original purchase price and did not waste time to go through insurance. I didn't buy additional insurance, so at most if Joey had went through insurance, I would have received $40/$50 back for my tv at $0.60/lb. He said he wanted to make sure we reached an agreement that felt fair. I truly appreciate Joey's customer first mindset. Although the damage was frustrating, I greatly appreciated how Joey responded. He's been in business for 25 years and stated that accidents happen and what he cares for the most is customer satisfaction. His integrity, compassion, and willingness to stand behind his company ultimately left me with a positive impression. This really helped! On the day of the move, they were on time and they brought in 10 people to pack the van and get us on our way quickly. When they moved us, they did not consolidate and transfer our things to another van, our things stayed in the same van until it reached its final destination. I chose Firehouse Movers because of their glowing Google reviews, and their initial estimate was very competitive. Unfortunately, the final bill was a complete shock. To begin with, they insisted on a virtual estimate and refused to come out in person and assess the job. This was a 5000 sq ft home full of furniture, and I wanted the most accurate estimate possible. I asked multiple times for an in-person estimate, but my requests were declined. By moving day, I had sold two-bedroom sets and several other large pieces of furniture that were included in the original estimate. Even with significantly fewer items to move, the final price was more than double the original estimate. On the day of the move, I somehow went from needing two trucks, as stated in the estimate, to four. And from 9 to 17 total man hours. At the end of a long day, my husband just wanted them gone, so he reluctantly paid the bill before they could log anymore hours. When I called to discuss the bill, Firehouse claimed I had verbally approved the additional associated costs over the phone, citing a recording, which was completely false. I have asked multiple times for this recording, but I have not received it. That was not a small miscalculation. Our move was grossly underestimated.
