This location is self service and open 7 days a week from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm. There are 3 large receptacles to accept the following items: tin, steel or aluminum cans, glass (brown, green and clear), plastic, paper and cardboard. This is a great place to bring your huge boxes that your new 80" TV came in. So much better to bring boxes for your expensive new toys here than to advertise to criminals what's new inside your home! Prohibited items: wood, metal, construction debris, chemicals, paint, tires and appliances. Richardson has a separate hazardous waste recycling center that accepts some of the items not accepted here. Thank you Richardson for providing such excellent city facilities!

The buyer was really upset because the contract said everything would be moved off the property. I wanted everyone to be happy so I called Mike at Texas Dump Junk and he showed up the next day and emptied the garage, hauled off a basketball goal that the movers would not touch and then swept down the garage. Amazing job. He works fast and hard, is reasonably priced and makes bad situations work out good.

Free tours of this private company's recycling facility are available twice weekly. Simply call or…read moreemail to sign up. Tour is about an hour in a temperature controlled environment. You'll have a view of the factory floor equipment and the workers working. A company employee will share the process with you, discuss the different equipment and how items get sorted. He has a large screen television that allows him to zoom into different cameras around the facility giving you a closeup of what's happening on the floor. Some of the surprising facts I learned here: (1) 30% of what is received here ends up in the landfill (2) This is a fortune 500 company. (3) They have contracts to do the recycling for over 20 cities in the DFW metroplex. (4) Nothing smaller than the palm of your hand can get recycled. In fact, those items often jam the machines. Leave on caps of plastic bottles and jugs. (5) Make sure items are Empty, Clean, and Dry. Food and liquid will spoil an entire batch of recycling and send it to the landfill, so do NOT put pizza boxes with food or oils, or bottles with liquid or food into your recycling bin. Put them in the trash. (6) No need to sort glass by color. All glass goes to one of their contracted partners for recycling. (7) Keep items loose and please separate attached items that are non recyclable. For instance, boxes covered in tape or cereal boxes with the plastic bag inside will go to the landfill. (8) Do not put these items in the recycling bin: mixed material items like toys and garden hoses. (9) Find alternative recycling companies for things like shredded paper, electronic waste, clothing, plastic grocery bags, etc. (10) This company only accepts plastic items with recycling numbers 1, 2, and 5. All other plastics go to the landfill. Besides being free and informative, I loved being able to get my questions answered. Definitely sign up for a tour!
