I am a breakfast lover and when they advertise as the place for breakfast... sign me up! BEST pancakes I have had in a long time. Not too dense like some pancakes. Try these cinnamon roll pancakes with a cream cheese frosting - I also put a little maple syrup on top. YUM! Corned beef hash was great too. Glad we stopped! This is a great little restaurant. We stopped, traveling across the UP, as we were heading back across the Bridge. Breakfast and coffee were in order after an early morning start. I ordered the half order of hash browns and half order of veggie omelet. If that was a half order, the full order would have fed an army! It was very tasty, and I ate every bit of it. Hubby had the chops and eggs with hash browns and english muffin. Again, the serving size seemed big. I will definitely put this on our places to stop for a bit to eat, next time we're traveling thru the UP. Thanks again for an awesome breakfast! read more

We stopped here on the way home to Chicago from Hiawatha National Forest - not a ton of dining options around here. This place is very cute and woodsy, and we sat at a window table with a nice view of the trees outside. Our waitress was working her tail off, catering to a full room, and she was very attentive to us when we sat down. We love a simple breakfast in the morning, so we both got the breakfast special: eggs, pancakes, toast and hash browns. It did the job, and the orange juice was very good as well! read more

Delona's food has improved with the current owner. Breakfast is best - the only local place I know that serves homemade corned beef hash. BUT, they are totally ignoring the Covid 19 rules; all the usual stuff on the preset tables, no closed tables, and the wait staff did not wear masks! The mask-less owner or manager walked around schmoozing with customers. When we asked to see him about what we were observing, he said, "I respect your opinion." Really??!! So I would only order takeout, & then I'd be concerned. Confirmed COVID cases are increasing rapidly in the UP and Delta County. We wanted to see if Delona's had changed, and stopped in at lunch time. Left immediately because nothing had changed. read more

0 stars. We went there several times in 2018. Never disappointed but today took the cake!! Walked in ,only 1 other table. Plenty of staff in the kitchen. Girl saw us sit down and even said hi. I know they heard us come in. We sat there long enough for me to miss my phone,go back out to the bike and retrieve it, come back in. Post on Facebook and still nobody came to ask us for our drink order or even to say be right with you. We sat there at least 10 minutes. Not busy enough to be ignored! Unexcusable. -negative 5 stars for bad management and irresponsible customer service. Booooo hiss. read more

So if you are thinking about going to Delona think twice. What happened to us was horrible. I got a fish and it was greasy and soggy. I immediately sent it back. My husband ate his (he didn't think his was bad- not great, but not bad )After 10 minutes the owner came out and asked what was wrong. I said the fish wasn't good. The owner apologized, asked if I wanted something else (I said no because my husband was done eating) and then he charged us for for the un eaten meal. I asked why- he said, "It was the same fish- his was good so how could yours not be?" I answered- "Why would I make that up? I am not paying for it." The male owner stood by my table ARGUING with us in front of everyone in the restaurant-refusing to refund the meal I sent back; after a few minutes, a female came- took the bill and said, "you probably won't come back anyway- but I will take the fish off." The guy stood and continued to argue (while the female owner recalculated the bill) even after I asked him 3 TIMES to please stop debating me. Why would you do that to your business over a $13 fish fry?! And now you know!!!! read more

We stopped in here for a late breakfast after hiking in the Gladstone area. The waitstaff was friendly and our service was prompt. I ordered the philly cheesesteak and it truly was one of the best I've ever had. We'd definitely stop here again when in the area. read more

Myself and several coworkers stopped here for lunch on a work trip. I ordered the Bacon Pepper Jack Chipotle Burger with chips. The burger had great flavor. The tangy chipotle sauce was just the right amount of hot. It was really good. I've had similar burgers at restaurants that charge $2-4 more. I ordered my burger well done. I should have known better. Too many cooks don't know how to make meat well done without burning it or drying it out, which is why I started ordering my steaks medium well. My burger patty here was just a tad overcooked, but the sauce and condiments made up for it. The homemade chips were pretty good. Not overcooked. Still a little grease on them so salt would stick, but plenty crispy. Everyone in my group seemed happy with their food. I heard the fries were really good. Two of the guys ordered club sandwiches and their plates came out several minutes after the rest of the group. A couple people were actually done eating by the time the clubs came out. The waitress offered no explanation as to why. As we were walking to the register to pay, someone commented that he didn't realize there was a salad bar. It didn't look like he was missing much. The selection was very small and nearly every piece of lettuce was browning. The bathroom was nice for a little mom n pop diner. I'd recommend a stop. read more

Been here twice and each time never disappoint, my honey loved the smelt said it was flavorful, the salad bar was great it had everything I wanted to make a salad. Th3 potato salad and tuna salad was yummy. Reasonably priced and great service, I recommend the little jem on the highway! read more

Great to see this place reopened. .. Cleaned up work a fresh outlook and good values on the menu. Had a very nice dinner , liver & onions isn't rocket science but the basics are the best measure of performance. Nicely prepared and presented with good coffee and pleasant server. Went to The Delona last night for a late dinner. Salad bar had excellent selections for its small size, and everything was very fresh. Soup was good, and had a homemade taste. Waitress and service overall was above average. Atmosphere was homey, with art from local artists on the wall. I'd highly recommend this establishment! read more

Came in for breakfast on a late Sunday morning. We were pleasantly greeted immediately by someone who wasn't our server and who took and served our drinks. The tomato juice was ice cold. Our server was equally as pleasant. I got the Delona breakfast special (named something like that on menu). The well done bacon I ordered was actually well done, the eggs were exactly over medium, and American fries had a lot of flavor without too much salt. It all came out hot. My son and husband got pancakes, so I tried a bite and liked them so much I ordered one in spite of the generous meal I had just eaten. The place was incredibly clean. The bathrooms seem to be regularly cleaned (an employee cleaned them while we were there). There were disposable pads in the diaper changing station. I think that's the first time I've experienced that! The owner (I think) was cleaning our table as we left and pleasantly welcomed us back again. I had tried that morning to talk my husband into going to Rosy's Diner (which I'm sure is just as good) but I'm glad he talked me into eating here. We will be back. read more

Excellent dinner! It was a beautiful Saturday evening so we chose to sit on the patio. The Saturday special is prime rib or baby back ribs and I ordered the large prime rib with mashed potatoes, baked beans, salad, and a roll. Definitely the best prime rib I've had in this area! My husband ordered the Cranberry walnut turkey wrap with homemade chips which was also delicious, the cheese tortilla is so good. Quite literally the worst breakfast we've ever had at ANY place we've gone to. The biscuits and gravy, were flavorless and didn't even cover the tiny flavorless 2 biscuits. Odd tiny squares of "sausage" nibs in a white no flavor goo? The omelet I ordered was small, and had close to no fillings. We actually laughed looking at our plates. One time was enough for us. Never again. I would give it 0 stars, but it wasn't an option. read more
