Friendly staff, fairly quick with quality barbecue. I usually get take out here. It's an easy grab and go option for dinner.

Best ribs I ever had! Close to home and local owned. Only downside is no sweet tea and okra.

I loved this place so much!…read more It's quirky, it's nostalgic, it's fun. We were there for lunch, so no live music, but there is a full calendar of acts. The food was fantastic! The sweet potato casserole was the best I've had, and the potato salad was fully loaded. Loved the sauce varieties, and had the mud pie for dessert which was scrumptious. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Lots of seating, lots of parking, lots to do...gift shop, glamping, the bayou, and of course "the poo with a view", lol.

We'd heard so much about this place and couldn't wait to try it. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment from the moment we walked in. The woman taking our order seemed irritated that we were asking questions about the menu. She wasn't friendly or welcoming at all. As for the food... save yourself the trip. It was so bad we threw almost all of it away. I didn't even think to take pictures because we were too shocked at how terrible everything was. We ordered a rack of ribs, brisket, and two sausages. Every single meat was extremely dry and overcooked. The ribs were so dry they felt like eating beef jerky covered in BBQ sauce. The brisket was the same--dry with BBQ sauce poured over it. The sausages were overcooked, dry, and honestly tasted more like Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage than barbecue. The sides were the only decent part of the meal. The mac and cheese was okay, but the collard greens were the standout. They were the only thing I actually finished. It honestly felt like everything was smothered in BBQ sauce to hide how dry and overcooked the meat was. Whoever is running the pit seriously needs to reevaluate the cooking process. We definitely won't be back. I only wish we'd kept driving and stopped somewhere else.

I had a wonder experience at Murky Waters! It started with the "hey Queen!" greeting from my…read moreserver/waitress, Randi. Randi was phenomenal! We discussed the menu and she gave me wonderful drink recommendations. Once I placed my order, my food quickly arrived at my table, piping hot. I intentionally ordered a larger portion meal so that I could take half of it to go for dinner later. Again, Randi came through with to-go containers included small containers for sauce. She included napkins, plastic ware and a wet nap. After my meal, I had some time to spare before I needed to head to the train. Randi told me to take my time and hang out, no rush. She refilled my water and I sat and read on my Kindle until it was time for me to go. When traveling alone, you don't know what to expect when you try a business for the first time. Will you be greeted warm, how will the service be...you just never know. This was a 5 star experience across the board. And Randi, if you ever see this; Thank you Queen! You are a beautiful soul!

Now that they have expanded at this location, it seems like it's gone downhill. The smaller locations have always been better. The burnt ends I had at the smaller location were tender, fresh, and plentiful, the last few times I've come to this new LARGE location, the first time they were out of burnt ends, second time they were dry and crumbly - like they been left under a heat lamp for 2 days. Potato salad, house salad, and fries are good. Collards are hit or miss. You can't tell they're even open, both times we've been we are the ONLY customers. The whole staff is so bored. They're pretty friendly considering they only have to tend to one or two people at a time. The open signs never on and the windows are dark so they look closed. I do enjoy the drinks, atmosphere, and good bbq but since this new spot has opened they've really gone downhill. I'm not sure I'll be back to this location if I ever decide to return - it's really a bummer. Even more depressing is the Bay St. Louis location closing because the bartender was friendly and kept great conversation, burnt ends I had there were the best, and I thought the location was great.
