It absolutely doesn't compare to what I'm used to at my regular joints in New Orleans, Texas etc. etc. During my first visit I was considering making a return visit to sample their burger but after looking at pictures of the burger and from my experience of their BBQ I just think I'm not going to ever be motivated enough to make a return visit as to me it just doesn't ring my bell as I've been so spoiled by Gonzo's Smokehouse in Luling, LA (best in the WORLD as far as I'm concerned) Austin, TX BBQ (second places-ish with other Texas joints) and Kansas City BBQ (always fighting for the top spot)... Once you've experienced Nirvana it is hard to fall back to mere mortal morsels although if you put that BBQ meat in front of me when I'm hangry I will totally destroy it like a pack of lions or school of rabid piranhas as I'm all about a big pile of meat and my carnivore beast instincts will take over!!!

The sweet potato casserole was the best I've had, and the potato salad was fully loaded. Loved the sauce varieties, and had the mud pie for dessert which was scrumptious. The good: our $4.50 Shiner Bock was ice cold. That's all that we enjoyed. Ribs were overcooked and beyond tender - no smoked taste - meat was mushy fall off the bone - the texture was terrible. . Pulled pork was flavorless - it was devoid of any seasonings - we couldn't taste any seasonings or smoke flavors. Brisket had a great bark but otherwise it was dry and over cooked. Ordered 1/2 flat & 1/2 moist, which surprisingly puzzled the order taker as though he had never heard brisket has 2 distinct textures. All we got was dry flat slices. And they offer no burnt ends: "we're so busy, we would have no time to serve burnt ends." BBQ sauce was almost black and tasted burned. It was inedible. Beans were thin and pale and way too soupy. The cole slaw was soupy and very sweet. Since this place is apparently popular, and our servings were so different from BBQ in Texas and FL and SC, MS folks like a very strange facsimile of real BBQ. All in all, the Shed was just not good. Any Sonny's anywhere is miles better. We most certainly won't be back.

The food was UH-amazing (hope you're lucky enough to have the Reuben Eggrolls because it's a special item on the menu -- oh, and happy to report that we were so excited about the food, we dove right in and forgot to take photos). And the ambiance was perfect when you're hungry and looking for a nice clean place to feed your family and kids! The owner came by to check on us and my 4-year-old complimented his shirt, and he was kind enough to give her one! It was really good and reminiscent of some of the whole in the wall places in Texas that does good sausage. The only draw back was that being near closing time they didn't have links but was able to do slices. It was good but hard to eat. My hubs got chicken and ribs. I liked the ribs... they still had some bite, tender but not falling apart, and the smoke is mild, not overkill like so many other places do. Hubs wasn't a huge fan of but I thought they were nice. The chicken was on the dry side, but I never go to a bbq joint to order chicken so it's not a deal breaker for me. The only major downer was that all of our sides seemed to be standard pre-made and ordered items, not made in-house. I also liked the hole in the wall vibe, the friendly staff, and the divine smoke aroma that lets you know you're in the right bbq joint. All in all I enjoyed their Q and will need to go back when I can get the timing right to sample their steam table offerings.
