I made a last minute call to Dellaria to get a blowout and got an appointment really quickly. My stylist was Lauren and she is very self-assured, confident and knows exactly what she's doing. I was nervous that the products they use wouldn't work on my hair because a lot just don't. My hair is very curly and very dry. It needs lots of moisture and conditioner. I'm not sure what Lauren chose, but it was the most ideal shampoo and conditioner for my hair. She's very patient, she does not mind if you tell her what works best for you, she's very serious about her work, but has a nice sense of humor. I really loved the blowout she did. My hair came out perfectly and I am incredibly particular about my hair. She understood everything I wanted and gave it to me. I will say, for the uninitiated like me, I am not from Massachusetts so I'm not familiar with paying for parking, it is metered and you can do it on your phone. Also, they don't allow tips on credit cards which I did not know. I had no cash and my bank doesn't exist in Massachusetts. Thank goodness I did have a little bit of cash. I'm crying. $245. This is how I looked after immediately leaving Dellaria Lexington - what I asked for was medium weight light blonde/ash streaky highlights with my natural color dimension, trim, blow dry. What I got was brassy, overall dull and drab heavy highlight with zero dimension that looks like a bail of straw hay. Orange brassy leakage near crown root. Breakage at 1 in above root leaving hair sticking straight up on end. There don't appear to be much layers in the back and more was cut off than I asked - at least about 3 inches, when I asked for half an inch trim. I want the horrible orange leakage spots fixed and full refund until I can get into another salon to have the overall highlight corrected. My scalp is on fire hours after visit. read more

I've been looking for a new hair salon to go to and decided to give this place a try. I let my stylist know I didn't want anything drastic at all, but to just thin my hair out a little in the back and trim about 2 inches with very slight layers in front. I also said I wanted to keep it very subtle since I wear my hair in a ponytail the majority of the time, and she assured me we would keep it more than long enough for a ponytail. The result was a layered, choppy, butchered mess, and far more than 2 inches cut. She gave me extreme, jagged, chunky layers that are not evenly cut on both sides, or not blended or subtle whatsoever; it looks very unnatural. She straightened it at the time, I guess to make it look better than it actually was, even though I let her know I have very thick and slightly wavy hair naturally, so right afterwards it looked like it might be okay, but going home and looking from different angles, having other people see it, and then washing it, I saw how terribly it was done. When I try to put my hair in a ponytail, 75% of it all falls out in the front, and if I try other styles like pulling half my hair back, random pieces of hair of all lengths stick out everywhere. It's incredibly frustrating and upsetting; the shortest layers are so short they barely come to the top of my cheek, so there's literally nothing to do but just wait for this mess to grow out. This is by far the worst haircut I've ever gotten. read more

I love this salon! It's clean without feeling sterile and always gives a warm vibe. If you are looking for a pretentious salon, this isn't it! All the stylists here are very down to earth and Pam is especially wonderful. She listens to what you want, offers suggestions and make it happen. I've never been disappointed and always love the results. Regarding the few negative reviews here, I've never experienced anything like this. Communication is key so make sure you are very descriptive of what your hair is like and your specific needs when making the appointment. Bringing multiple pictures of what you aim to achieve also helps communicate exactly what you want to your stylist. I have been going to and loving this salon for 13 years! I started going back as soon as salons were open after the COVID shut down. Every 5 weeks from June of this year. I see Krysten and love the fact that when I am there there are only 3 total stylists at a time. The salon is wiped down between each client and it is never crowded. I feel very safe at Dellaria Lexington! They even have see through barriers between the hair washing stations. Couldn't be happier with the salon or the stylist. read more

I booked a haircut and blow dry. I got my hair washed by another hairdresser since Katie was still with a client. I waited in the chair for her. Katie came over and brushed my hair out and seemed perfectly nice. She kept commenting on how long my hair was which I did agree with (down by my waist). She told me when I called I didn't inform them of the length of my hair. Because now there is not enough time. If I had told them they would have booked more time. Was I planning on getting a blow dry? I said I was planning on getting a blow dry (seeing as that is what I booked), but... She said, "I hate to send you away without the blow dry but unfortunately you just didn't let us know." I was in her chair for maybe 15-20 minutes before I was ushered away to go pay, and She already had another customer coming into her chair. I was then charged the full price ($65) for the haircut and blow-dry. I left the salon quite upset and very confused. I then noticed I had a voicemail from them where they had tried to reschedule my appointment. I truly believe they overbooked on top of me and then scammed me out of the service I booked and paid for. I tried to call the manager to discuss this situation and they informed me that I was lying and had actually refused the blow dry myself. Why would I book it just to refuse it and pay full price?! I am a college student graduating with my masters this may. I wanted to get a nice haircut for my graduation. It was disastrous and extremely upsetting. read more

It all started in high school and I heard about Amanda who was supposed to be the best for up-do's so I went there even though I live no where near Lexington and it was definitely worth the drive and the traffic! I seriously had the best up-do at my dance and every dance after that because I always made sure to go back to see Amanda. She does my cuts, my colors, all of it. I don't have much say when it comes to my hair, I'm lucky enough if I blow dry it in the morning so when I get a consultation, I never really know how to describe what I want but somehow, amazingly Amanda can figure out what Im thinking and my hair always looks awesome! I was in a wedding this past weekend and the bride chose this salon to get our updos. Being very picky about how my hair is done, I was a little nervous trying a new place, especially for an updo. I arrived 20 minutes early and my designated hair dresser, Jodie, was ready to start immediately. I showed her a picture of what I wanted done (curled and half up). She explained to me what she was going to do and did an incredible job. Some hair dressers are egotistical and barely even look at a photo you show them; they just say, "Yeah, yeah, I can do that", but your hair never comes out like they way you expected. Jodie was so meticulous! She would set a piece of hair and look at it in the mirror to make sure it was in the absolutely right place and confirm with me if that was how I wanted it. I also told her that my hair is very silky so the curls may fall and I wanted to make sure they would survive until the ceremony. Knowing that the curls would loosen by the time of the ceremony, she made the curls extra tight and used lots of hairspray and other products to make it set. Furthermore, she was able to control the annoying baby hairs that surround my face by using wax and shine products. All of the girls were happy with their updos. I was especially pleased with mine and received many compliments at the wedding. Updos are $60, which is a reasonable price, and if you have Jodie, it will be well worth it! The salon is located on the outer edge of a shopping plaza. There is metered street parking along Meriam Street and also a municipal parking lot (enter on the next street , don't turn onto Meriam St.) with rates that start at 25 cents for up to 2 hours. read more

As busy as the salon is, I've never had any issue making an appointment last-minute. The best part of my experiences with the salon has always been Amanda. Amanda has been taming my long, thick hair for years. She's colored it red, light brown, dark brown and honey, given me bangs, grew out my bangs, cut layers, hid layers I no longer wanted. I've been coming here for years to see Liz. She's seen me through short-ish hair, long-ish hair, blond hair, red hair, foils, single process... Some of those combinations were better than others -- for sure! But the great thing about Liz is that she will do what you ask but also provide her own input (gently and professionally) so that you don't end up with an "Oh, honey. No." 'do. Liz does great hair cuts, but I think she truly shines with color. She translates my ridiculous requests (Notice how many times I use the "-ish" and "-y" suffixes in this review? This is how "clear" I am with her. Yeah.) and I'm always thrilled with the result. My natural color is a golden brown and I'd been going blond with her help for years. One day, I mentioned I was bored with blond and interested in red. She jumped on it and created a great brown/auburn-y color that completely changed how I felt about my skin (?!). I knew that hair color can impact the way your skin looks, but I didn't realize it would be so dramatic. My splotchy, pink-undertoned problem skin suddenly looked more luminous and clear and my eyes looked brighter. Besides her hair color wizardry, Liz is also warm and funny and a pleasure to chat with for an hour or two. I'm sure she'd respect silence if that's your salon preference. I don't have much of a frame of reference, but I think the prices are reasonable for the location and quality. The salon itself is fairly no-frills. Easy, cheap parking in the lot behind Depot Square in Lexington Center. I go on Saturdays and it's usually busy, so I wouldn't expect a "zen" experience if you're waiting for your color to develop. I'd been dying my hair for about 12 years and was ready to stop. Lynne matched my roots perfectly and the grow-out happened without any odd looks. Never had a bad experience here. Update: One star off. Price is now $65.00 for a simple cut and blow dry from Lynne. She's started really pushing highlights, extensions, and anything else to up the bill further. A bit absurd. Cut was OK, but definitely not what was asked for. I took my daughter here because she is embarrassed by her curls. We got a cut. It showed curls, it looked good, we complimented the hairdresser. Then he begged to style it SPECIAL just for the day to show what she could do with her new curly hair cut. He styled all of the curls out. I got a keratin treatment with Jodie about a month ago and I couldn't be happier! I was very skeptical going in because I've done so many things to my hair to try to calm down the frizzy curls and nothing works for more than a week. It used to take me 45 min to straighten my hair and now it takes 12-start to finish. 10 to blow dry, on a low heat setting and about 2 to touch up with a flat iron. I rarely bothered straigtening it because if there was a rain drop or any humidity, it would just get really frizzy and curl at the root. Keratin was literally life changing and Jodie is great at it! She explained the process to me, advised me what products to use, and was available after the treatment for any questions I may have. read more

My first time at this Dellaria . I was nervous due to covid and after 6 months of quarantine finally had the nerve to go for a hair cut with Amanda . The salon was very clean and made me feel safe .every one courteous and attentive. Amanda did a great job even though cut it a little shorter than I wanted but the cut is very nice The only thing that surprised me and I have never experienced this at any salon is that you can not leave gratuity on your credit card . Theses days people don't carry cash and everything is contactless due to covid . I am even nervous to get cash from ATM . Almost exclusively Elaina has cut and colored my hair though all staff interactions have been exceptional. Dellaria requires their stylists to train at standards that exceed MA state requirements. Four of us had our hair styled here for a wedding this weekend, and all four of us walked out pretty pleased with the end results. I didn't have a photo of a style I wanted with me. I just told my designated hairdresser that I wanted a loose updo -- the rest was up to the her, who's name escapes me unfortunately. She ended up wrapping my hair up in a way that I never would have imagined. She did a great job. If I didn't already love the salon I usually go to, I'd be back here in no time to try out their other services. read more

Katie did a great job with my hair. Fantastic cut and color and a great price to boot. I would see her again. I only wish the place was kept clean. The area should be swept throughout the day, especially around the chairs, after each and every haircut. I couldn't help notice the layer of dust around. The baseboards are dirty. The closet is also the changing room -- which makes no sense. There was also a funky smell in there. The place needs to be updated I'd recommend Katie highly, but just don't look around. read more
