Where have you gone? There is no forwarding information. Just love this place. Great curly hair specialist.

This salon is beyond incredible! My story is interesting. I used to live in California, and found a hairdresser I loved there and paid top dollar for highlights. I have since lived in Santa Fe, and the Boston area, and have only gone to very expensive salons to meet the standards of what I had in California. I have not found it until now. Since the pandemic I have been doing my own highlights, and 2 days before being in a wedding I messed my hair up royally with bleach. I called them with one day to spare with blotches all over my head, and they squeezed me in with Sarah without time for a consultation to help me fix it before the wedding. There wasn't even an appointment open, but they stepped up to help and made time for me. Without an official appointment, this was supposed to be a "quick fix", but It's probably the best highlights job I've ever had. Sarah is an absolute magician. She is incredible! Trust me, if you could see the before pictures, you would be amazed. It was bad. Like really bad. Thank you Sarah! The additional point I want to make about this place is the glowing and wonderful energy of the salon. It's so vibrant, and everyone is so nice. As soon as you walk in there, you feel such a wonderful community of talented women who are really good at what they do, and just incredibly friendly to each other and their guests. Specifically, I want to thank Sarah, but overall I highly recommend this salon and will definitely be back. (Please note my photos are not styled by the salon, but just trying to show the highlights after the fact) read more

I saw Casey. She was great and very precise. I had root touch up and cut off about 2 inches from my length and added some layers. I love how she did it. I will definitely see her and again and come back. Love the products they use too! read more

Beautiful cut. Busy place. Quiet area. Good customer service. Will return Thank you. read more

If you have never experimented or colored your hair, or even just need a touch up, this is the place to go to. Kayleigh and Kayla made me feel so welcome. An important point to note is that they'll take care of you even if you've had brassy in between type hair too. An incredibly neat salon as well. Thank you ladies for your excellent expertise and attention to detail! read more

Exceptional! I had a great experience today with Hailey. My sister went and tried her first and she walked out beautiful and happy. I then started following Hailey on Instagram to see all her work. Finally, I booked and I just let Hailey do what she does best- make your hair look amazing. I will def go again read more

Best haircut(s) and styling I've ever had. Haley is my go to gal! I actually got my hair cut and my normal blow-dry combo that I get done before my best friends wedding and I got an insane amount of compliments on my hair! Haley knows what she's doing and I completely trust her when it comes to handling my cabeza! She's also incredibly sweet. Everyone in there is! The price is well worth the service and the outcome result. Highly recommend this spot to anyone in the area- you won't be let down! read more

All stylists do a fantastic job here. Safe and relaxing environment. Easy booking. I see Kaleigh however all the ladies do a great job.

Matilda has been cutting my very short pixie style hair for over 10 years. I won't let anyone else touch my precious locks! I followed her from Davis Square, to Arlington, and now to Lexington. She is very talented at shaping many different styles, always with a feminine flair. Best of all, Matilda's cuts look good right away and 6 weeks later- I get hair compliments even when I'm itching for a trim. She also never bothers me about dyeing my grays, despite the fact that color is a huge money maker. I even referred friend a with long, heavy hair to Matilda; the friend came back very happy with much lighter but not much shorter hair. I highly recommend Matilda for all lengths of hair, but especially to any woman seeking a chic and low maintenance short hairstyle. #pixie #shorthair #femmehair I also want to review the Creative Expression salon: it is light filled, spacious, and has plenty of parking. Most importantly, this salon is always being cleaned! Whenever I am there, I see sweeping and wiping being quietly completed as the stylists work with clients. The salon also recently upgraded their scheduling system so that I now get automated reminders of upcoming appointments by text, email, or voicemail. The variety of communication methods makes re/scheduling super easy. My favorite part of this salon, however, has been watching young women progress from receptionist to assistant to licensed hairdresser with her own chair/clients. Over the years I have observed the ascent of at least 6 different stylists from answering the phone and greeting clients to actually cutting hair and doing color. These apprenticeships are proof that Creative Expressions is a modern, thriving salon. Do not hesitate to book an appointment here! read more

Love this salon! This has been my second time here and again I've come out with a life changing beautiful haircut and color by Kaylee! She's awesome and her understanding of you and what you want is just amazing. I was confused about what I wanted and Kaylee gave me a perfect haircut and a nice color which totally goes with who I am. Everyone at the salon is really nice and the salon is always clean and very inviting. All the stylists have great hair so you know you're at the right place. Glad to have a Salon so close to where I live and would come here again for all my future haircuts. read more

Haley is my go-to hair stylist. She knows my hair so well, I went from severely damaged long permed hair (previously treated somewhere else) to a very short stylish bob cut to trying out the ombré in different shades, then having healthy layered long straight hair with beautiful balayage throughout. Haley is both professional, patient to listen carefully when I tell her what I want and also takes Coved19 safety seriously. She's all in all my go-to girl. I highly recommend her service if you want to maintain healthy, stylish hair in a long run! read more

All of the previous reviews are 100% accurrate! Thank you yelpers for helping me find my new salon. The salon was clean and bright. I had kay. I sat down and before we did anything(including a wash) kay sat down went over what I wanted, why I didnt like my last cut(from someone out of state), etc. She touched base with me throughout the cut and I love the final product. I have curly hair so if you cut it wrong it looks terrible, But Kay did an amazing job. 100% recommend coming here for your next cut. Ps there is a $20 off coupon on yelp when you check in read more

Just fabulous! This was my first visit and I can't wait to go back. Kay is a master. From her shampoo to her blowout, it was a wonderful visit. I will definitely be back! Thank you, Kay! read more

I was there for my first time after reading the nice reviews. I had asked for Hailie and was super excited to get my daughter's hair the very first time. The service and ambience was very good but the results were far from what we expected. We had a picture of what we wanted but the balayage came out very different. Hailie informed us that, that's what she could do to her hair, which was not correct. I have been to a few salons for my balayage and the color can definitely be lifted up.The results were not satisfactory. My daughter is so disappointed and I really dont know if they can be fixed to her liking any more. I dont think one should go by just the reviews. Had I known I would have not been willing to spend that much just to try out a new place. read more

I cannot express how happy I am with my experience. I have always had very long hair and this time Tina (thank you Tina!) convinced me to chop it all off and I cannot believe how happy I am with my new cut. Her criticisms of my previous cut were dead on and now my new haircut is fresh, modern and easy to maintain. SUPER HAPPY!!! Also, just a side comment... All of the hairdressers in the salon were stylish and well dressed, not overdone or over the top, which made me trust my hairdresser and I am SO GLAD that I did. read more

New to the area and staff was able to make an evening appointment on short notice. The facility is modern with a hip vide - very refreshing for the burbs. And, most importantly, the cut was first rate. Would definitely go back. read more

Haley is Amazing!!! Came in with frizzy hair pulled back in a messy bun and left with a sassy brown and copper bouncy layered cut! I trusted her from the moment we met! Best hair cut I have ever had! Haley did a gorgeous cut, color and style and I'll surely be back. I was in town visiting family from Maryland and I'm already planning to come back to visit my parents in 8 weeks and get my hair touched up! read more

Came in here on a Saturday afternoon to get my hair done because 1. My hair stylist was unavailable and 2. I am lazy and don't like to blow dry and curl my own hair! Hailey ( i think was her name) did an AWESOME job curling my hair-she gave me loose beach curls yesterday morning and they still look great the next day. It was clean, cute, and everyone was friendly. Definitely check them out for a hair style or eve a cut and color! ohh and if its your first time sign up on their website for $20 off your first visit read more

Tina did an awesome job cutting and styling my hair. I came into creative expressions with long hair (to the bottom of my shoulder blades) with years of damage from highlighted and bad keratin towards on the bottom. Pretty from a few feet away, but crunchy and frizzy up close. I was sad to have to make the chop, but Tina made it as painless as possible. I showed her a few pictures of lengths and styles I liked, but I honestly wasn't even sure what my natural hair texture would be like, it's so dead. She got the length perfect and added some really subtle, beautiful layers that make my hair bounce. It's so much healthier, shinier, and softer and I feel amazing. The whole team was welcoming and professional, the space was nice, and parking was a breeze. read more

I had my hair cut and highlighted by CASEY and she did a fabulous job. She is very particular and takes her time and listens to you. She has a passion for hair and it shows! The salon is recently remodeled and is very tastefully done. Will definitely be returning. read more

I got my hair bleached with super short notice (literally the night before), and everyone here was super helpful. I have thick, unwieldy, and very dark Asian hair, and it took around 5 hours for the whole process. Overall it was really comfortable and I wouldn't have asked for more-- definitely will come back again! read more

I've recently moved to the Boston area and it's always hard finding the right hair dresser, let alone an affordable one too. Not only was I able to schedule an appointment for the day of, but I was greeted and whisked away by the super friendly staff - Sarah. She was so attentive to all of my needs, took her time, and certainly did not rush me what so ever. I've been to other hair salons where they don't give a rats ass about who's in front of them and what their needs are, as long as they make a buck. Not only did Sarah listen to my concerns, needs, and took her time, she was able to deliver a fabulous hair cut and I loved how she perfected every chop. Mind you, I have extremely thick and curly hair and yet I was totally able trust Sarah's skills. She gave me an amazing blowout at the end also! It's not often you come across a happy, chatty, and attentive hair dresser who knows what she's doing and still enjoys her passion. It was my first time going to Creative Expressions, and I'll surely be returning to see Sarah! Thank you Sarah! read more

I moved from Maryland and I wanted to check off one thing out of my bucket list and that was to get highlights. I found this salon through yelp and figured since its pretty close and it has parking was a plus. On the day of my appointment I was running late and Sarah was very nice about it. I told her that I was new to the area and that it was my first time getting color in my hair. She listen to all my questions and concerns. When the process started she made me feel comfortable and explained what she was doing. I appreciated that she took the time. Sarah gave my hair a subtle highlights to ease me to the process and cut my hair perfectly. She also gave suggestions how to take care of my hair. It was my first time going to the salon and the salon was very clean, bright, and has a inviting feeling. Most of all the staff was very friendly. I am happy to have found a salon and an artist :) read more

If you are looking for Matilda (as you should be) she is now in Lexington. The Arlington Creative Expression closed down recently. I have been coming to Matilda for haircuts for over two years now and I am never disappointed. I have short fine hair (but thick) and I always get a great cut here. Lexington is a little farther out for me, but it is on the 62 busline from Alewife (and the bike path) and it is a beautiful little salon with lots of windows and very friendly people. And, you can get an affordable haircut here--$39 for a cut and blow dry. I highly recommend it! read more

I was able to get an appointment quickly and Sarah did a great job with my hair. She listened to what I wanted, adjusted along the way, and gave me a great cut! Plus she was efficient so I wasn't sitting there forever. Great experience! I'll be back read more

My first time at this salon: I asked for someone who knows how to cut thick, wavy/curly hair. I needed a new look as I am recently separated. Haley did a fantastic job of cutting about 8 inches off. I wanted something fun, and she delivered. Thank you Haley!! read more

When my wife and I first moved to Boston we quickly went in search of new, fresh haircuts. The first place we tried was less than adequate so we landed at Creative Expressions when it was in Arlington. My wife sat down in Sarah Fahey's chair and said, I need you to fix this terrible haircut." and Sarah goes, "I'm glad you said it!" and proceeded to fix both our hot messes. There are two relationships that, when you find the right one you never let go; those are your therapist and your hair stylist. Not only does Sarah do an amazing job with whatever your cut or color needs are, but she's super friendly and authentic. When they moved the shop from Arlington to Lexington I didn't think twice about making the trek from Rozzie. Just an FYI, Sarah books up quickly so don't procrastinate that new 'do! read more

I just moved to the area and this is my first time going. Kay did a very great job on my hair! I got babylights and a hair cut for $198 which I thought was expensive. But I didn't know the haircut cost separate than the highlights. I love my color and I will be back! I just will make a note that if I don't need a trim, not to get one and it would save $40+. read more

Casey has been doing my hair for 5 years and she is AMAZING. She is the only person I trust with my hair. Love this place! I get my haircut, color etc and my kids both get their cuts from here too! I have worked with both Kaylee and Sarah. Both are very professional and great at what they do! Kaylee gave me a great cut : from long hair to a chic bob after I asked her to give me a new look since I had just given birth and desperately needed to feel beautiful! She did exactly that! I walked out of there feeling amazing! My 2 year old son was screaming his head off during the haircut but Sarah was so patient and took her time with the cut instead of rushing it and chopping off whatever she could like they do at other salons that I have been to before. I loved the stylish cut she gave him and my daughter. I can't wait to continue working with these two stylists! You can't go wrong! read more

I went in today and Kay was my hair stylist. She was kind, focused on giving me the best hair cut and incredibly professional. This may be the best haircut I've ever gotten in 31 years! Definitely going back! read more

Everyone is professional and friendly. Love coming here. The stylists all seem to enjoy each other, which makes for a nice atmosphere. For cut and color, Sarah is fantastic. Creative Expressions salon is the definition of a gem I searched high and low for, but was hidden right beneath my nose. I lived down the street from the salon for over 15 years and never thought to try it out. Eventually, after reading reviews and looking at photos of clients' hair online, I scheduled an appointment. Since I first went to Michelle in July 2017 and returned this week (December 2017) I have been happier with my hair cut and color than ever before. I have naturally dirty blonde hair and like to color it to an ashy lighter blonde. Many stylists have trouble achieving a bright enough but also well toned color. Michelle, on the other hand, seems to have no trouble with this. She is able to mix a beautiful color and read how long an individuals hair needs to set to get the best color pay off. The layers she has done for me really complicate the shape of my face and she was able to make my thick hair feel light and airy! I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a well blended and bright color (which, let's face it, is everyone who colors their hair) as well as great conversation. The whole time I was at the salon she, and the other employees, made my time relaxing and enjoyable and catered to every need I could possibly have had :) read more

Thank you Sarah! I got her name after noticing my friend's soft and natural new look done by Sarah. I went in for my appointment at Creative Expressions right before a job interview, desperate to get rid of my overly-processed brassy blonde hair. Sarah put me at ease right away, we brainstormed, and she got it done. I left there feeling relieved to have found a great new stylist, and confident about my upcoming interview. She restored my hair to a natural looking base, and gave me highlights which really complement the base color. In addition, the people at the reception area and the other stylists in there were very friendly to clients, and helpful to each other. Great vibe to the place. I really look forward to going back. read more

I just went to CE Salon for the first time last week. I am super picky about who cuts my hair because most of the time I ask for a trim or highlights, I walk out with a mullet or hair the color of a pumpkin. My hair was getting extremely long and since the place I typically go to is very far and my girl's schedule just wasn't jiving with mine, I decided to try CE. I figured, what the heck, my hair is long enough that if they mess up, it won't be so noticeable. I was also encouraged by the rave reviews on Yelp. Still a little skeptical though, I decided now was the time to tame my mane. Well, Yelpers didn't steer me wrong. I am so glad I tried it out! Not only is this place like 10 minutes from my house, but they know what they're doing! Sara was my stylist and I swear, she is my hair soul mate. We had a connection unlike any I've ever had with a hair dresser. She got it spot on! I walked out of there with the best hair cut I've had in like 10 years. My hair feels weightless, healthy bouncy and so sassy! I am in love. Sara (I hope I'm spelling it right, is there an H?) is super sweet! She's young, knows what looks are in and she's just the right amount of chatty. Everyone who works there is very friendly. I was offered water or coffee immediately! I barely got a sip of water when they were ready for my shampoo. Amazing service. Seriously recommend this place to anyone! Oh and plentiful PARKING!!!! read more
