I have had three bad experiences with the service department, I can no longer be silent. Trip 1- Took kids RAV 4 hybrid for an intermittent check engine light. Could not find an issue but re-imaged (updated) computer and charged me $200 Trip 2- Scheduled lube oil and filter for a 20,000 mile service on wifes car... 2.5 hrs in service department for a lube oil and filter while I waited there. This was a SCHEDULED appointment, not a drive-in. Seems a bit excessive Trip 3- Car had a check engine light and a traction control off light come on. Service Dept. advised us NOT to drive car. Della couldnt get it in for a week to have it looked at. Took it in, mechanic found evap code, problem was a loose gas cap. Charged me $80.00! Probably would not have nearly the issue with the $80 charge, had I not been made to wait a week to find out how minor the issue was. I do understand that we had a mechanic tied up for a period diagnosing the issue. This is not the type of customer service that we are accustomed to from this dealership. I have owned Toyotas almost exclusively for 30 plus years. These experiences have me questioning whether that will continue into the future. read more

I recently purchased a 2022 Tacoma with only 28,000 miles on it from Della Toyota. It broke down within 48 hours and after immediately contacting Della, they would only cover the repairs if they performed them at the dealership. However they refused to pay for the tow back to the dealership, which would have cost me around $600. It took 3 more repairs and breakdowns before the car was drivable enough to get back to Plattsburgh. The truck broke down again 5 minutes from their lot. They have been ignoring my emails and phone calls asking for a resolution, and when I have been able to have conversations with their management they were rude and dismissive. I have now found out from one of their service techs that the reason for all of the breakdowns was because they incorrectly installed an aftermarket A/C compressor on the car the week before they sold it to me, and I was not made aware of this. I have now gone to the lengths of opening a case with Toyota Corporate and the New York Attorney General. Save yourself a headache and thousands of dollars in repairs and go to a different dealership. read more

My husband brought my 2023 RAV 4 in for a oil change. It was my last "free" one before my 2 year free maintence was up. They were done in 25 minutes. The service technician that did the service filled out the paperwork stating that the checked all of the filters and rotated my tires. My husband brought my car home and put it on his lift because he is a mechanic with 40+ years experience. He did this due to how quick the dealership was done. My husband discovered that they did not do what the service tech said he did due to there were no fingerprints in the dirt to show it was disturbed. My husband called and talked to the service manager who a free oil change for the next time but we refused because we cant trust them to do it right. read more

On August 5th i inquired about a 2011 rav4 with 70,000 and priced at $9999.00. I was told by Adam it was available only had rust on the rims and would last me 7 to 10yrs. On the 6th i came down and looked at it. I immediately found rust all over including underneath. I pointed it out to Adam and his response was what do you expect for a 13yr old vehicle? (Flippant) I thought to my self i expect honesty. Took it for a test drive and heard a clunking sound. Adam was called away for a call and John took over. He said they would put a free unde coat on it and find out what the clunking was and fix it. I was very happy with that so i put $6700.00 down and financed the rest. Adam messaged me and said the clunking was the coil over the strut and they also had to replace the e brake for it to pass inspection (how do you sell a vehicle that won't pass inspection?). Also, they would have to replace the arm. I was glad all these things would be fixed. Adam kept in touch Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Then silence Monday, Tuesday Wednesdays. I finally called and asked what was going on? Bad news the part needed was on nationwide back order i couldnt get the rav 4. Adam said they would send it to auction and it would be destroyed and they were taking a loss. He then tried to sell me a 15,000 car not the make i wanted. I declined. Requested a refund. Not even 24hrs later i see they are selling the rav 4 now for $10999. I was furious. They blamed the parts department. I was told everytime i called for my refund that takes 7 to 10 days it was in the mail. Its September 9th and still no refund I called September 7th and John said the check was there, its been there. The lack of communication is embarrassing. The offered to sell me the rav4 at the same price but Adam had told me the other coil would probably have to be replaced and id probably have constant problems with it. Wow, really? Selling it it was an awesome deal and an excellent vehicle what changed What should of been a happy and exciting experience turned into a nightmare. Oh, when speaking to John on the 7th he said he would leave my check in the center console of a vehicle out front. Guess what? All the vehicles were locked. Went in 3 weeks ago to talk with them on a used car that was 15k and told them my life story and hardships and was straight forward with everything. And they reassured me that they could work with me and find me a bank etc...so i left a deposit on the car to hold it so it couldnt be sold i was told...so now 3 weeks later with absolutely no word of what was going on and i even stopped in and was given the run around in the week #1 and they said they had to have more time as they were talking to banks etc...so i left with a small amount of hope id hear word in few days but nope not 1 word via messages,emails,phone calls nothing!!!...so today i went and talk to the lady who intern had to go in the "back" and talk to her boss and then came back to tell me its a no go for them to find anyone to work with me and they did give me back my deposit $ without hassle..but very short with me and couldnt run me out of there fast enough when i asked why they never called me to talk or nothing? And when i asked why the car i paid a deposit on was being used to deliver parts in and had a dealer plate on it and filthy dirty inside n out they ignored me when i pointed that out and said my peace when i walked out...poor bussiness all around to do to a local ...il never go back or support a della dealership .... read more

Beware of Della Toyota and this "family" of dealerships! They cannot be trusted. The Facts: Della did not inspect the used car we purchased from them in March and we had to bring the car back on MULTIPLE occasions before they (finally) fixed the brakes - and that cost us lots of time and money bringing it to them from out of state! Their (very) poor service was evidenced by their (ongoing) track record of shortcutting things. They prey on customers and are precisely what's bad with car dealerships. Della employs predatory business practices! They should have properly inspected and fixed the car BEFORE they sold it to us. We recently learned from a professional mechanic that the tires they had on the car when they sold it to us were unsafe (cracked between the treads) AND that the rear springs were broken (and had been for quite a long time). Also, the calipers are leaking! Della pushed this vehicle out the door - without fixing what needed fixing - at our expense! They said to bring it back to them AGAIN - and then wanted to charge me approx. $2,000 to fix the issues they NEVER inspected or addressed in the first place. Got there and waited 45 minutes for her to tell me they had not ordered the part and to make another appointment. I live 45 minutes away and my time was not respected in any way. I called after my experience to complain and was told that "there was a breakdown in communication" and that i will be given a discount, if they dont make it free i will argue with them until i make someone cry. read more

'17 Tacoma TRD Sport. I was informed that my year truck might develop shift problems due to a need for updates to the ECU. I was told it would be advisable to go to my dealership to have them hook their laptop to my truck and check for needed updates which could be installed on the spot. The next time I was in Plattsburgh I stopped at della Toyota and asked the lady in the service dept if I needed an appointment to have my truck checked for updates. She had to go to the office and sent out another lady who told me, "That will require our master mechanic. It will cost $125.00 up front." When I asked if I actually needed updates would it cost more, she replayed, 'yes'. I told her, "Well, my truck seems to be shifting ok now. So if it will cost $125.00 just to get in the door I'll look around for other options." and walked out. Since della has taken over the dealership service has suffered. This is my 3rd Tacoma (1 from Heritage, one from Garrands (now della) and this one from della). I plan to keep this one for a while, but if I decide to trade, I'll go across the lake. read more

Mid September I brought my 2012 Corolla in to their service center for my NYS inspection. I waited over an hour to be told it "would fail" and that I NEEDED to replace my tires. They provided me with 3 different tire options, all over $600 for the set of 4. But didn't pull my inspection sticker or charge me for the NYS inspection. I was able to purchase the same exact tires from Sam's Club for over $200 less & get them installed within 48 hours. Called Toyota back the following day to re-schedule my inspection. The couldn't get my car in until Oct 18th, even though they knew the inspection expired at the end of Sept. So today comes around -- appt was scheduled for 9:45 am. Arrived on time & would be waiting with my toddler. They said okay and showed me to a play room inside. We were left waiting for 2 hours and 15 minutes with NO updates. Finally someone comes to speak to me & tells me "your car failed due to a faulty O2 sensor, so we pulled your inspection sticker, but don't have time to run diagnostics & fix the problem today. You'll have to schedule another appt & come back." So I go to the service desk for my keys & am charged $21 for the NYS inspection (even tho I failed & now have NO sticker) I'm then told to go back out to the service center to schedule my appt for a 3rd attempt at a NYS inspection & to get my O2 sensor replaced. I was expecting them to say sometime within the next week seeing they TOOK MY STICKER, but no. The "next available appointment isn't until November 5th & you'll have to pay for another NYS inspection then also." I asked what am I suppose to do until then? I was given the option to leave my car there until Nov 5th (mind you I'm waiting with a toddler) or risk driving it home without a sticker & bring it back. I asked if there was any way it could be fixed sooner, as this is getting to be ridiculous. I was told to drive it back later tonight & they "might" be able to squeeze it in tomorrow. I was given zero quotes or estimates on what it will be to repair. Overall the service is slow, unorganized & it's clear they don't care for their customers. read more

Great car, but it doesn't do me any good if I can't drive it legally! I purchased my RAV4 45 days ago and STILL haven't received my registration. I was pulled over by a police officer and he told me to drive home and park my vehicle until it was properly registered. Also, since I had traded my Honda CR-V in for this vehicle, I had swapped the insurance. Well, the DMV knows I have no insurance on the Honda (why would I?), but they have NO RECORD of the new vehicle! The DMV is now threatening to suspend my drivers license until I can prove I have insurance on my Honda. I told them I had TRADED the Honda for the new Toyota but they didn't believe me because there's no record in they system. TERRIBLE SERVICE!! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! read more

They quoted me $1200 and charged me 2000. They had no excuse for it other than "labor". However they did not fix the problem and they told me that they were going to replace my serpentine belt because it was worn out. Della sabotaged my vehicle to sell me new parts- I have proof. I found it strange that every time I take my Toyota vehicles to Della for a motor vehicle inspection, I am told that my wiper blades are split and I will need to purchase new ones. I maintain my cars meticulously and install new wiper blades every six months. So this year, I took some video of my wiper blades before dropping off my car. The wiper blades were in excellent condition when the car was left at Della Toyota, but nonetheless, I get a call letting me know that my wiper blades were split and I would need to purchase new ones in order to pass inspection. I asked for a photo, and sure enough: Between the time I had dropped off the car and the time it was inspected, my wiper blades had mysteriously split. When confronted with the proof that my wiper blades were in excellent condition when dropped off, the Service Manager offered to take 50% off. I followed up with the General Manager, who comped me the blades, but refused to do anything else to remedy the situation. I've bought and serviced vehicles at Della for years. This is fraud, and your pursuit of a few bucks on wiper blades has cost you my business forever. Hopefully this review will prevent others from getting swindled. The GM I spoke to manages all of the Della dealerships, so I would suggest avoiding their other brands too. read more

first of all to start , i started buying my Toyotas from Garrand Toyota since 2000 , never had a problem with any service of any kind , got first new Tacoma 2000 , second new in 2003 , frame went bad in 2012 , Garand was very good about it , took it right in and offered to change frame with recall . At this time after a week they offered me on trade for another new Tacoma 2012 with a great trade in offer and so I bought it along with a used 2006 Camry for my wife , my son also bought a 2007 used Tacoma at same time .At this time never had problems with any service till Della bought the dealership and move to new location , bought a new 2014 Tacoma and my son then bought a new 2015 Tundra and new 2015 Rav 4 , the battery went bad in the Tundra (frozen) at about 3 months and was given a hard time by service , I HAD CHARGED THE BATTERY AND TESTED IT AT HOME AND IT WAS NO GOOD , they tried not to replace it and after haggling with them they decided to replace the battery. He had been given a hard time at one service when the oil filter casing was cracked and leaking oil which at this time I had to buy a new filer housing and they refused to pay or replace it !! They wanted approx. $80.00 for the housing !! So much getting any more service there !!At this time I had bought a used 2013 Camry and brake caliper seized up within 3 days after buying , so much for that , had to buy one and install it myself along with set of brake pads ,Then I bought a new 2020 Tundra , took in for service at 10,000 miles , had lug nut locks on the wheels , service manager came to me wanted to remove the wheels to rotate the tires , stated the wheel locks did not work that they had , but came to me with one lug to show that their wrench did not fit , ask him how did you get that one off , LOL , did not know what to say , stated I needed to buy new lug nuts , about $65.00 , asked him again how did you get that nut off ?? refused to say ,still wanted me to buy set of lug nuts , I told him to put my tires back on and to take my truck and put it outside right now !!, he refused to comply , he stated he could not which I told him the lug key was under the back seat and to use that one ,after a while the truck was moved outside , was done !! Went out and noticed that 3 tire valve caps were missing , checked for my key , GONE !!!! went inside to see thr service manager , tried to hide and then argued with me they did not steal the key !!! Decided to just go home with before getting in trouble , double checked the storage , key was missing , checked my lug nuts had several nuts were loose , not to specs. luckily had bought a spare key for the lock nuts !!! Then I brought the Tundra in because the battery getting weak at start , I checked it with my tester , showed weak and under load test about 9.5 volt to 10 volts start under load test, so took it in , they brought it in , after an hour they informed me the battery was weak but would not replace it , had to perform more tests and that my plow cables are draining the battery , LOL , never used the plow yet at the time , so at this time I told him that to put my truck outside , I will get a new battery myself , was not getting jerked around again , still had warranty left on that battery ,but bought a new one and truck now starts fine , informed him that 23 years buying Toyota Vehicles from them , NOT BUYING ANYMORE FROM DELLA !! WILL TRAVEL TO VERMONT OR WHATEVER TO BUY !!! Also time to buy another Camry and my son has to replace 2 vehicles , not here !!!! read more

My wife and I bought a 2017 Certified RAV4 from Della Toyota. We have had the car for one year and 7,500 miles. It failed inspection for tires and front brakes. I have to admit that I should have looked much closer than I did. Had I pulled a tire I would have never accepted it. While I don't dispute that at the time we got the car it legally passed inspection, in my opinion it was close to the limits and I didn't expect that from a quality dealership. I'm now spending about $ 800 for new tires and front brakes. It would be even more but I did the brakes myself. I would highly recommend anyone purchasing from them to have the car checked by an independent shop. read more

Just traded in my 2016 cloth Tacoma for a 2019 Tacoma with the leather and tech package. I have a yellow lab and the fur was impossible to remove from cloth. I met Jim Goss when I walked in the door and he could not have been more helpful. He understood what I was looking to do and did all he could to make the deal happen. He was not overly aggressive like many car salesmen but did what he had to do to make me happy. We have a Florida mailing address, but live in the Plattsburgh area. We tried to buy a used truck from them. Saw the truck as it came from previous owner on Monday - needed lots of cleaning. We were promised that it would be ready for our appointment on Friday at 10am. On Friday at 10am, were told to wait another hour, it wasn't ready. After more than an hour wait, it showed up, still dirty (dirt and gravel in rear bumper/hitch area, dirt and crap in cup holders, reeked from smoking).. It also had other problems, brakes were very soft even after they had "fixed" them, the left front tire was worn unevenly. When we tried to get a better price because of all this the answer was- no! "we have decided that this isn't the vehicle for you and we won't negotiate because it could get ugly!" That was it. They wouldn't give us a price. So we said just give us our deposit check back BUT,,, they had cashed our deposit check, even tho we had agreed on nothing - and now it will be 10 days before we can get it back... 10 days to use our $500 ... Will never go back. There were other very bad exchanges on the phone in between - ones where they showed their ignorance of the DMV laws. Della Toyota is to be avoided at all cost!!! My daughter bought a used 2015 Honda Civic from Della Toyota. Less than 3 days of having it she started having issues. She brought to a Honda Civic dealership today. She needed brakes, rotors and a front right caliper. My question is how did this pass inspection? All that should have been part of the inspection. She has only driven the car about 150 miles in the week she had it. Yes it was used, but only has 28,000 miles. It was covered under warranty but I don't think it should have been sold with the brake issues. read more

Ibought my tundra here and decided to buy my tires here,which were on sale.The appointment was at 8:45.I took there shuttle to the mall,because the service women said it would be about hour and 45 minutes.At eleven thirty,we returned to the dealership to find out the truck was not done.I live a hour away and I had to be to work for 2:00.Itold the service lady this and she said they where working on it.A hour went buy and it was still not done.Idid not realize it took that long to change a tire!Finally,the lady tells me that they busted a tire pressure monitor and it was going to cost and extra hundred dollars.After waiting for 5 hours and now I have missed work and gone in late,they charged me extra hundred dollars for something they broke.I have bought 4 cars from them and will be trading my avalon and my tundra this year and it will not be here! read more

I would never attempt to buy a Toyota from this place. A few years ago I took the time to read through purchase paperwork for a brand new Prius V. They tried to rush me through the process. I found they knocked 4 thousand off the agreed trade-in value of my two model year old Prius C. I walked out on them. They were in such a hurry to rush me through the sale that in the 10 or so minutes I was in their office they had the plates off my car and on the new one. I had to wait for them to put my plates back on my car I went back to Handy Toyata in St. Albans, VT where I bought my Prius C and got the exact same color car & options that Della Toyota tried to screw me into buying, all without the bull crap. Also, they didn't try to screw me on the trade-in. Do I recommend Della Toyata? Not even to my worst enemy. I have to give them one star in order to post this review. If I could otherwise post, they wouldn't even get that. read more

My daughter recently bought a used car through Della. After the sale was completed we saw that the drivers door area above the rocker panel was worn down to bare metal. We asked if that was going to be fixed and was told no as the paperwork was already done. Several days later she was told they would used touch up paint but it would not be an exact match . So now we will have a professional body shop repaint that area and touch up some chips . If you buy a car from Della make sure you take it to an independent mechanic to have it gone over for any deficiencies. I've bought several vehicles from Della Toyota in the past but I have to tell you that this last one will be my last! What an ordeal. I purchased a 2018 Toyota Tundra on July 13th and as of today, I'm still waiting on the registration for it. They have sent us 3 new registration paperwork in the last 6 weeks because they have screwed up the paperwork. I'm now with a brand new truck I can't drive because my temporary registration is expired. I called Della and they just say, it's at the DMV and they won't get it until tomorrow. Then with the long holiday weekend I won't receive in the mail until late next week. They show no sympathy that I have a $50,000 vehicle sitting in my driveway that I can't drive because of THEIR mistake. What a joke. read more

I went in for a 5k service in April, I had asked the service department to check the tire balance due to some shaking. They said one tire couldn't be balanced and would call good year then call me back the next day to get it replaced. I asked them if they would mount my spare on that wheel and I didn't care if the bad tire went on the spare wheel, they said sorry, we don't have time. I have called 14 times since that day only to be told they don't know anything but will look into it and call me back. Still waiting as of July 13. This is not the first bad experience with Della. I said I would never go back and travel much farther for service but I did go back, big mistake. I waited 5 hrs in the waiting room for a tire balance and a 5k service, they never rotated the tires or addressed the one issue I had. I waited 5hrs and all they did was top off my windshield washer fluid. this has turned into a joke with many friends and family as we all get together and make the "daily Della call" on speaker phone to see what line of BS we can entertain ourselves with. I have recorded all phone calls so when the time comes I will be able to make a great case with corporate Toyota. read more

I purchased a brand new Toyota Corolla a year ago, and the service was wonderful. They even brought the car back in numerous times to re due undercoating for me. I just purchased a 2014 used Toyota Tundra for 31,000 had it for 2 days and noticed all the tires were weather cracked. Brought the truck in today and was told they were fine as long as the belts are showing. So now after spending that much for a truck I have to purchase new tires because they are not safe despite what they said. I was going to send my father-in-law there to purchase a vehicle but have now changed my mind. Very unhappy!! read more
