Visited Della Francesca on 12/30/23 with another couple. The dinner would have been more relaxing had my chair not been bumped by the wait staff during our meal with annoying regularity. As we were ready to stand up and leave, I was doused by a coffee spill from the tray of dishes she had just cleared from another table. The coffee spilled onto my wool coat which was on the back of my chair and my lower back which soaked my sweater to my skin. This was witnessed by a senior staff person who I presumed was the maitre d' . He seemed to share my surprise and disappointment. He took me aside and expressed obvious concern and empathy. He assured me the restaurant would take care of my cleaning bill as he gave me his business card. I had my wool coat, white sweater and trousers dry-cleaned. I presented the same person with the dry-cleaning bill on 1/12/24 that came to $46.16. He took the receipt and disappeared for at least 10 minutes. He returned with a check for $27. He then told me it wasn't the full amount. He accused me of "strong arming" the restaurant and said I would not get any more money. He accused me of inflating the bill. I stated I would not do that, and asked if I looked like a person who would for $20. He replied that" I did" and left me very offended. It's a shame that this place would have a person like him dealing with the public. read more

Starting with the positives, we felt this place offered friendly service and a desirable ambiance. Unfortunately the food and high prices made for a lack-luster experience. From start to finish we encountered a series of disappointments, beginning with my chair with the unevenly-sized legs, which I immediately swapped with another table. I gazed their choices of draft beers, and as I presented my selection to our server, he informed me the drafts were not available, so I ordered a mediocre bottled selection. My wife's chocolate martini was very satisfying. To start, we opted for the "Sampler 1", which consisted of 2 shrimp, 2 littleneck clams, and 2 blue-point oysters. Shrimps were below average, oysters were rubbery and fishy, and the clams were inedible. For dinner my wife ordered the gnocchi porcini and I ordered the pollo martini. My wife seemed to enjoy her gnocchi, but not enough to take home the leftovers, and my chicken tasted so badly, I exchanged it for the bistecca gorgonzola. I asked the server if the steak came topped with mushrooms, and he told me it did but would tell the chef not to include them, but of course when it came, it was loaded with them. We felt these dishes were priced exorbitantly, with the gnocchi priced at $27.00, (expensive for basically just pasta) and the steak at $46.00. We felt these were NYC prices without the quality or value. I was teetering on whether to give this place one star or two, but I decided to go with the latter, because the atmosphere and friendly service deserved some acknowledgement, but our disappointment will unlikely generate a return visit. read more

AMAZING !! First time dining here and won't be our last. Everything was perfect from the moment we walked in to the end of our meal(so tasty) finished off with tiramisu and cappuccino! The staff was so friendly and attentive. Thank you and look forward to seeing you again! read more

The customer service was excellent throughout the entire dinner and I was first impressed with the bruschetta, pieces of parmaggiano cheese, and fresh bread delivered from the start. Though this is a white linen table restaurant, I thought the food was over priced for the quality of food. I had a mushroom risotto that appeared to look like white rice with dark beef gravy and mushrooms, but actually tasted much better than it looked. Nice ambiance and cozy. I noticed there were a few work related dinners and couples. read more

Excellent Northern Italian food. Great service, nice atmosphere. Specials were very good, beef was excellent and done to perfection. Didn't see the full wine list, only the by-the-glass card, but had a nice glass of Pinot Noir (generous pour). A bit on the pricey side for a Sunday dinner, but great for a special occasion. read more

Wow what a disaster. We were in the area and when we looked up the best restaurants this one came up on several sites. The drinks were sent back, the soup was sent back, after which were embarrassed to send back the other items which comprised a tasteless mushy oysters, pasta that was filled with sugar and the veal also book go which I kept chewing and chewing and finally spit it out because I couldn't break it down and of course was left over. Possibly one of the worst meals I've had in a long time and I can't believe how they can get the reviews they get. I definitely recommend not going there read more

the hostes/waitress was extremely rude, hostile, and not flexible. The chefs don't care if you get food poisoning or not. Eat at your own peril. If I could I leave pictures of the raw food I got. It's disrespectful to the food and people eating it. I hope no ones gets sick. read more

Della Francesca - The hostess offered to "throw this back on the grill for me"...no thanks. P.S this is the Filetto Di Manzo with not one bite taken out of it - Italian Near Me - Danbury, Connecticut

I ordered 2 lava cakes to go, came out to $35. They were plain chocolate cakes with frosting on top. No 'lava'. Super sad.

I have nothing bad to say about this restaurant! I drive by this almost every evening, and it's always packed. So I decided to drag my family there. We were all pleasantly surprised!! The servers were amazing- never waited for a thing with them, and they always kept our glasses full, appropriate silverware, and table clean! Everything was amazing. I studied in Firenze for four months, so my taste buds know a thing or two about authentic Italian cuisine. I got the Risotto con Funghi and actually teared up as I ate it. That good. The pasta dishes were great as well- tasted freshly made (but may need to fact check me on that one). Definitely a great place to go for a celebration with friends or family! read more

First time there was for Mother's Day. Couldn't have picked a better spot! We enjoyed every moment of our meal. Exceptionally skilled and professional wait staff are a rare thing these days -- and highly appreciated. Decor is very warm and Italianate. Nice linens. | Now, for the food. A complimentary amuse bouche of cheese wedges and delicious bruschetta was delivered immediately, followed by some delicious warm bread. The fried calamari appetizer was very generous(enough for 2) and delicious. We tend to make our first judgements on how well a place can present this dish! Accompanying marinara sauce was very fresh and fully bodied. If you like calmari, treat yourself to theirs. Veal (Vitello) Piccata - Buttery slices of fresh tender veal, with artichokes, fresh spinach and whipped potatoes. The sauce was absolutely dreamy. I would order this meal again in a heartbeat. Again, very generous and beautiful presentation. Beef (Bistecca) Boscailoa - NY Strip steak, with mushrooms & onions, peppers in a Barola wine sauce was delivered perfectly medium-rare, with a side of whipped potatoes as well. Sauce was a little sweeter than was expected, but overall, it was a lovely piece of meat, perfectly cooked and savory! Can't say enough about the extraordinary wait staff. It was like going back to the old days..... These folks still come and clear the table of crumbs after your entrees have been removed. Old school charm. Classy. Key Lime Pie was split for dessert. It was good and served with a generous dollop of fresh whipped cream. We will DEFINITELY be returning here for a great meal! read more

Della Francesca - Tortufa to kill for! - Italian Near Me - Danbury, Connecticut

UNIMPRESSED I'm always torn when writing a bad review. We had fun at our dinner but that was because we were in good company. We did hit a few rough patches but they were easily fixed like our waiter telling us he couldn't take our order & needed our apps and entree orders at the same time or the chef would kill him. That seemed weird because I've ordered a million times apps first and then entrees later and no waiter or chef wanted to kill me. So maybe the chef does tell him this but it comes off aggressive to the customer. In fact, our who table was a little shocked by this. One of our party left the table to talk to the waiter and he returned with our menus. Yeah we weren't getting menus until we were ready to order our whole meal. I did not like this. Besides the above weirdness by our waiter he was really fast. I've never seen a waiter move that fast on a drink order. He would literally have a cocktail replaced in minutes. It was lightening fast. I'd give him five stars for quickness for refilling adult beverages. The bartender gets credit here too because someone needs to make the drinks. The menu was really beautiful but I can't eat printing. I ordered the angel hair pasta with mussels, clams, shrimp and scallops in a fra diavolo sauce. I've got to be honest when I say the sauce was not very good. It honestly reminded me of when I was 12 and would doctor up a jar of Prego sauce to make it taste like home made. I was a little shocked and stunned because I was completely letdown by the sauce. I was also unimpressed with the mussels. The shrimp and the clams were the best thing in the dish. I kind of wished I had gone with my second choice of linguine and clams because the red sauce was just wrong. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and I wasn't impressed. The tower of mozzarella was not a tower but a speed bump. This dishes name just needs to be changed because it's misleading. The burrata was just okay. The antipasto had sliced black and green olives sprinkled on the plate. Where are the whole olives? The olives felt like they were out of a can plus the multi gain crackers dropped all over the plate felt like filler. The only app that was worthy was the baked clams. It was the only dish that stood out from the whole evening. I was also dining with two other chefs. One chef ordered the squid ink pasta and the pasta wasn't black. I asked him where was the squid ink and he told me that was a good question. The other chef had the osco bucco and he informed me it was tasteless in the inside. Him not finishing the meat was all I needed to see to realize it wasn't that great. Chefs don't like to be too critical of other chefs but my two chefs were unimpressed with the meal too. It's like chef karma because you don't want another chef coming down on your cooking. The dessert menu had photos in it but the cannoli looked nothing like the photo. Please don't have photos that don't represent the actual dish you'll be getting. Dessert was also weak too. I asked the chef if all desserts were made in house and he said that only a few. The key lime and cheese cake were a complete letdown. The also had fridge burn. Obviously they were sitting and didn't have an air tight seal. The only good dessert was the Tiramisu. I'm going to guess that this one was made in house. I'd highly recommend you order that one and stay away from the others. We had paid our bill and were talking when the waiter offered us all house made zambucca. It was really good and it wasn't clear. This was the nicest gesture from our waiter all evening. He could have just left us talking here but he made a five star move. It was very classy and a perfect way to end the dinner. I hate the low stars but the food isn't that great. I wouldn't want to come back here for the food because I wasn't impressed. I would probably just go to the bar for some drinks. read more

This place is a joke. So rude to their customers. They have some nasty audacity. Do not got here LOL Would give zero stars if i could. Love this place, great food, owners and staff. Some of the best food in Danbury, cant wait to go back!

overpriced , pretentious, meh food, meh drinks, meh service , small portions, 15 dollars and up for a piece of cake,,,,

Good food and good service. Nice place to go for a good meal. I am a frequent patron.

This is my fourth or fifth Italian restaurant in the Western Connecticut region and I have to say I was thoroughly impressed. While the others were very good, I think the quality of food at this restaurant was excellent as well as the service. The atmosphere is a little dated but definitely clean. When it comes down to it for a first impression the restaurant was top-notch highly recommended. read more

Two words: "short ribs". If it's on the specials - get it! The best. The new location for Della Francesca is awesome; larger, more parking and a better layout (FYI - if you know their previous location go check it out for a less expensive but just-as-good option - they still own the place). Della's menu is a nice step-up from all the other Italian restaurants around the Danbury area - some nice choices. Their food is consistently excellent, service always good, and you won't need a reservation (unless you have a large party). read more

Great Italian food and superb service. My husband and I went there last night, first time there. We had the Caprese appetizer and he had the house salad. Caprese was wonderful, the house salad had a little too much dressing, next time we will ask for it on the side. My husband had Veal Piccata which was excellent and I had the Cavatelli Bolognese with gluten free pasta....to die for!!! Dessert of cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake. The cheesecake tasted a little stale, the chocolate cake was delicious. Wine list could use an overhaul, need additional selections. Service was exemplary, water glasses were NEVER empty!!! We will definitely go back!!! I have to update my review and unfortunately not good. I have been back a number of times since this first review. The service has changed from exemplary to condescending. One night I asked for a wine list and was told it wasn't "up to date" so just tell them what kinds of wine I like and they will get me a glass. So, I guess they know more about wines I like than I do? Another night I asked for a particular bottle ( they had a wine list this night) and then was told they didn't have that wine but here's a bottle that they will give me for the same price... somehow I'm guessing they had an overstock of that wine and needed to get rid of it. And here's the worst part, as we were having dinner in the bar area next to the windows. We all saw a gigantic rat scurrying across the snow looking for an entryway into the restaurant. Had it not been for the snow we wouldn't have seen him. Needless to say we exited stage left. Won't be back there again. EVER. read more

I love this place. But unfortunately every time I go I eat the same dish the stuffed chicken. I keep telling myself I want to try something else but I always get the same dish. What an amazing experience! The staff here is so friendly and attentive and personal. We went with a group of four and they were stellar. We ordered a cocktail to start and then wine, and everything was as expected. I ordered the short rib dish and my partner ordered the sea bass and they were both delicious! The short rib came with mashed potatoes and were rich and satisfying. The sea bass was awesome. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes! read more

GREAT SERVICE AND GREAT FOOD! BEST ITALIAN RESTAURANT IN THE DANBURY AREA! since i have been here about 2000000 times I can basically tell you about the entire menu ..(.if its able to be done gluten free). some of my favorites consist of the lobster and king crab appetizer. It is already prepared and ready to eat so there is no struggle getting the meat out! I also LOVE LOVE LOVE the coconut shrimp and especially the sauce that comes with it ! You cant go wrong with the seafood dishes at this place. I love the seabass but also LOVE the veal. the veal is pounded so thin and it just melts in your mouth. The seabass can be prepared different ways, but i like it a little spicy. the Chicken caesar salad is really good too. How hard is it to make a good caesar salad? ITS NOT... but the chicken is what does it for this dish. the flavor has a lemon zest taste and is also pounded so nicely and has not even a little bit of dryness to it! It can be fancy in the dining room so if you are looking for a nice place that is quiet with a beautiful atmosphere, this would be my choice on millplain road. read more

The Crabcakes are were not fresh but frozen & deep fried. My Salad was a bit tastier but the fried strips of goat cheese on top were another sign of lazy frozen food cooking, not to mention a weakish Balsamic dressing. The pleasant surprise was the Sea Bass special, though the capers were overused. In the End, another overpriced, overrated CT restaurant that the locals gladly flock too. read more

This relatively new Italian restaurant in a small strip mall in Danbury is simply put, fantastic! The service is impeccable and the food is delicious. My wife had the Tagliatele Primavera (fresh pasta with vegetables, extra virgin olive oil, garlic and white wine sauce) and I had the Pollo Martini (boneless breast of chicken dipped in Parmigiano Reggiano with white wine and lemon sauce), a variation on a piccata sauce. Both were absolutely fabulous! My daughter, the most timid of eaters, had penne with the best damned tomato sauce I've ever tasted (other than my own, that is!) She declared it was one the best meals she's ever had. Definitely will go back, especially for the bruschetta with a chunk of fresh provolone that is served at the beginning of the meal. Not bad for a random from UrbanSpoon iPhone app!!!! read more

Trying to beat a hurricane home we stopped here for dinner. We were road weary and just needed a good meal to get us through the rest of the long drive. It was on the early side of a Friday night, around 6, so not surprisingly it wasn't crowed. When we arrived there were two other tables seated. The head waiter seemed very knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the pasta primavera and a mushroom risotto. I thought the primavera sauce tasted fishy, but the risotto was pretty good. I just thought for the price, and it was expensive, these simple dishes should have wow'd us. I also didn't like the 5-6 waiters hovering, after every sip of water our glasses were refilled, I know they were trying to be attentive but it felt more intrusive. Very underwhelming. read more

Solid Italian Food I stopped by Della Francesca for dinner. I can't remember the exact dish I had, but it was fettuccine with scallops and shrimp in a vodka cream sauce. It was nicely cooked and tasted great. I sat at the bar since I'm in town on business. Had a friendly conversation with the bar tender about the World Cup. I would definitely eat here again! read more

Saturday 8 March 2014, the bar was not crowded since it was still early for the bar/dinner patrons; the atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming. We received great service from our bartender Denise (5 stars); we ordered the Bar Anti (Pasti) Classico it was fresh and with tasty cheeses and meats (very good). Denise was very good so good in fact that she sold us on in my opinion some of the worst pasta primavera (Tagliatele Primavera), it was overcooked not just the pasta but also the vegetables. My boyfriend had the chicken parmesan, the flavor was not unlike canned sauce packed with sugar, and the penne was also a bit overcooked and tasteless. We will not return for dinner, perhaps to visit the bar and have a few drinks and nothing else. read more

Della Francesca in Danbury has the best Italian Food and SERVICE in Danbury/Ridgefield/Northern Westchester area. The restaurant is family owned and the service is a top priority. The menu is extensive and food is always excellent. Not on the menu? Ask and likely they can make it. However the best accolades I can give is the wine list. The list has a large volume of high end California wines (Caymus $150 per bottle) that are priced lower than anywhere you will go. This place is a wine connoisseurs delight. Try the Daou Reserve at $100. Great Cali Cab at a ridiculously low price. 5 stars! read more

We had their Prix Fixe Menu for our Rehearsal Dinner last month. We sat in the semi-private dining room in the back. There was a plethora of food choices. Everyone had a plate of antipasto, salad, pasta, and dessert (tiramisu & mango sorbet). For the entree, we had the option of salmon, veal or chicken. Everything was delicious and presented beautifully. The sauces on the entrees weren't too creamy or heavy. The service was outstanding. The wine menu was exceptional. Always just an exceptional meal! The food, service, ambiance, you just cannot ask for anything more. We go probably once a month, just because of my husband's schedule, otherwise I'd live there..and as always, we are greeted like family, shown the best table and then given the best meal. Tonight, we wandered out in the snow...thought maybe they'd be closing..no no, please come in!! A little on the house starter of bruschetta and the most heavenly slices of fresh creamy Parmesan (yes, CREAMY!!). Hubby & split the crab cake, I had the cavatelli bolognese, he had the double cut pork chop special.. I think our yummy sounds were perhaps too loud..and then topped off by a perfect affogato for dessert. Now, when we walked in our intention was to have a little wine and a little antipasto, but the delicious aromas emanating throughout the restaurant propelled us into eating far too much and enjoying every morsel!! Cannot recommend highly enough!! Love Della!! read more

We were a party of four, I was taking out my in-laws for father's day. Michael (if the service is great), he said call me George if the service was lousy, I will be calling him Michael was pleasant and came to the table quickly. We ordered wine and some one at the table (I won't mention who, however, if you're a family member you know who) spilled a full glass of wine all over the table and Michael's shirt. Michael was great he moved us to a new table and set up a fresh glass of wine. We started with salads 2 Arugula and 2 Mista della Casa. The salads were well composed and not overly dressed. I had the double cut pork chop with peppers and balsamic glaze my wife had the pork chop with figs and port wine reduction. We both requested they be prepared medium rare with a pink center. They came out at the perfect temperature and we agreed that they were the best chops we'd ever had...and that's saying something ! ! ! My father-in-law had frutti di mare which he enjoyed, his wife had the double cut veal chop crusted in parmigiana she thought is was great. Deserts consisted of tiramisu (I loved it), fruits with fresh whipped cream, and chocolate mousse cake (just okay.) Cappuccino and coffees (I thought the coffee was a bit lacking, they may need to get a better brand.) On the house glasses of Sambuca (they said it was house made, I think you need extensive licensing to "make" spirits, perhaps they flavor it themselves) We had the option for any other after-dinner drink, next time it's Frangelico for me. All in all it was a really enjoyable dinner and I will be going back. The only odd thing was that after Michael took the order and helped us with the spill incident we never saw him again, at all. Not sure why, we were taken care of perfectly just felt that was odd. read more

I give this place 5 stars because it deserves it. In the six months that I got to live in the New York area I went to many Italian restaurants looking for food that taste like REAL Italian food. Like the kind I have eaten in Tuscany, Sorrento, Florence.... While visiting friends in Danbury I stumbled across this place and we decided to give it a try and it was awesome. Delicious!!!! It is not cheap. The four of us ordered nice plates and two nice bottles of some of their best chianti. It was about $260 and it was worth it. I hate paying a lot and feeling like the place was mediocre afterwards . But when you eat here you are still thinking about it a few days later. I have eaten here twice and the flavors have been consistent. The same Italian server has served us both times ( I think he might be the owner) and both times he has given is excellent service. The place is quite enough that you can have nice conversations. If you are looking for a nice once a week Italian restaurant or celebrating something nice I recommend this place. read more
