The amount of meat and veggies provided were not enough to feed 11 people for the price and quantity paid. Other than the quantity I thought the flavor of the dish had very authentic Szechuan spices. If you love spicy food, Delicious Chengdu is the place for you! Considered authentic Chengdu, the food here is prepared on the spicy side as the norm. You do have an option to order it mild. If you don't, most of the dishes will come with a bit of heat. Each table is set up with a QR code that will identify your table and provide you with a menu. You can place your order on your phone and the server will bring your order to the table to make that process pretty much contactless. The smoked tea duck was the big winner of the meal. The duck had crispy skin with meat that was tender and flavorful. The only other mild dish we had was the cucumber salad which was refreshing. All others we ordered were "as normally prepared" and were pretty spicy at medium heat using chili peppers including the stir fried green beans. Their take on Dan Dan Noodles was a bit different than what you would find in other Sichuan restaurants. The swai fish fillet with the mala sauce was very tasty but quite numbing! The food in general was actually good, but I don't think extraordinary to deserve some of the media hype it has received. (Or am I missing something?) I think the restaurant got the name wrong. It was the complete opposite delicious, and a disgrace to Szechaun cuisine. My wife and I are both Chinese and Szechaun Cuisine is probably our favorite. I Heckin love Delicious Chengdu. Their flavors are on point, their menu is digital (read: cleanly ordering & payment process), and the restaurant itself is so cute!! Last time we went, we ordered beef, fish, eggplant, green beans, and Dan Dan noodles. I'm a weenie and got some items at mild spice level, but the nice thing is that the dishes were still very well seasoned AND still had the variety of peppers that are numbing, but not spicy. So I still got to enjoy an integral part of the experience of eating Szechuan food. Last thing: I noticed that they have a small retail shelf. But rather than only selling DC swag or more foodstuffs, they had a variety of items from other local vendors. Okay. I've tried this corner restaurant in Temple City like in its four last incarnations. It seemed to be a cursed location, as all the previous itinerations were pretty awful. Delicious Chengdu has seemed to have broken the curse. This authentic szechuan Chinese restaurant is terrific. The Dan Dan Noodles are great. The Kung Pao Chicken is delicious. And the Country Style Pork is to die for. Truly Awesome. The spicy fish filets in chili oil were a little less successful for us, as it is not a sauce as much as a bowl of chili oil with fish in it. Tea-smoked duck! Must order this! So delicious! The flavor is unlike anything I've ever eaten, yet oddly, comfortingly familiar at the same time. The meat is so tender with light crispy skin...I am at a loss for more words. Just get it. My second favorite dish was the sautéed cabbage (pics6+11). The appearance and name are dangerously deceptive- it looks plain and bland, but it has tiny buttery shreds of fatty pork with subtle seasonings and bits of scorching Thai chili that make it addictive beyond crack, meth... you get the idea. It's very similar to a Hunan style lettuce stem dish I have eaten/reviewed elsewhere in the SGV. Our second vegetable, sautéed shredded potatoes, also appear deceptively simple yet those Szechuan peppercorns were flavor bombs! Avoid these black mini-grenades if you don't enjoy the burning, lingering tingles like I do. These were more potent than any I've ever eaten before. Next, the pillowy soft, mildly seasoned, braised chicken with fresh crunch-alicious green chili peppers (pics 5+10) was a welcome counter to the powerful other flavors. Ironically, the dish that looked the spiciest (pics 3+13) turned out to be the least spicy- the boiled fish in chili oil, which is not to say it isn't delicious. The fish melts in your mouth- but I admit we had the most leftover of this. The dan dan noodles (pic7) were for the vegetarian in our group, so I didn't get to taste but the bowl was emptied thoroughly, so.... Finally, I must say, the complimentary-house-made-snack-peanuts at the beginning of our meal were as flavorful and addictive as the rest of the meal- I usually hate peanuts-but I just couldn't get enough of these! We only had 2 bowls but I could've eaten a pound- perfectly spicy, roasted, smoky, crunchy and crispy! Service was phenomenally attentive and quick! We never ran out of water despite how fast we drank it. And the last pic I posted wasn't even our dish but wow! It was a show stopper!- we had been wondering all meal long why there was a removable slab in the center of our table- it is to accommodate the wok for this fantastic chicken dish! A couple seated next to us ordered it, and clearly they weren't expecting it either! The entire restaurant clientele collectively gasped when it came out and they kindly allowed me to take a photo. But rice still not here yet, and we asked again. After all food is here but the appetizer still not coming out, so we want to cancel, because we almost finish the food, then the waitress bring us the appetizer(cold dishes). Never had a appetizer came after main course. Let's talk about for the food. The fish fillet is too salty and the house special wok fried chicken stew doesn't have much meat in it, too many bones， I don't think it's worth $68. The worst experience ever!!! This is hands down my favorite Chinese restaurant in LA so far! My aunt, who has been living in LA for almost a decade and tried many local Chinese restaurants, took me to this place because I was craving for spicy food. We got a fish dish and a beef dish, both extra spicy. The spicy level was perfect! It thoroughly cured my cravings. Maybe a bit too spicy for people who don't grow up eating spicy food, but very on point for those who do. Usually when a dish is spicy, the flavor would lack a bit, but not at this place. Both the fish and beef were so flavorful they reminded me of home. The beef was especially tender and soaked in all the flavors of spices. Needless to say I would come back to this place again.
