Hadn't been here in a while but when my husband and i were craving tamales, i immediately thought of this little place. Ordered 3 green and 3 red tamales with a pick up time of 1. Went by around 2, and they said only the green were ready and the red will be ready after 6. Not a problem. I returned at 6, and they were ready. Except the green were in really bad shape! Very very little filling and burned! Out of the 3, 2 were burned! Its also surprising because earlier they said the green were ready but not the red. The reds were fantastic; lots of meat and flavorful! However, the reds were for my husband and the green tamales were for myself. Well at least he enjoyed his meal! Never again. read more

Unless you like food poisoning, don't go to this place. I ordered the caldo as a starter and it had a small bug in it. As a main course, I ordered the chicken tacos. The cheese was lukewarm and the chicken tasted off. I ended up only eating 1 before going to the bathroom to fight off some nausea. The service was fine, but the ambiance could have been better, they had some horror movie playing. During the night I woke up at 4am to vomit 7 times in total. Took me a week to recover physically, a lot more to recover mentally. Don't go here. They don't check the food enough, clearly. read more

The service was horrible. All the waitresses were having a party or something so they were all screaming and hollering which got annoying. The food was disgusting. Beans tasted like they came out of the can, the enchilada wasn't cooked it was just covered in sauce and heated up and even the enchilada sauce tasted like it came from a can. There was so much water on my plate from the chile verde it was like a red swimming pool on my plate after mixing with the enchilada sauce. Rice was flavorless and had a bunch of crunchy bits. Servers sat at that table by the side hangin out so we Got no water refills. Worst of all, after I got home I wound up barfing it all back up. 1st time coming here and my last time as well. I went into Delicias Cafe this morning. I was approached by a young girl who spoke to me in spanish I replied in English good morning how are you. She visibly got upset turned around and walked away. Leaving me standing the 100% feeling disrespected. I raised my concern with the manager who didnt want to hear any of it. Our Tlalpeño soup was so delicious! Hadn't been there in twenty two years and it was just as delicious as it was back then.

- Tried their lunch combo-2 which includes 1 chile relleno, 1 beef taco, 2 cheese flautas and side of rice, beans and soup. - The beef taco was good with great flavor, the added red salsa gave it a good taste. - The soup had vegetables and some rice at the bottom, it was fresh, warm and very good. - The chile relleno was just oily and bland; no flavor to it, similar situation with the flautas too, wouldn't recommend them. - The rice and beans were subpar, I remember on previous occasions these items were fresh and had an awesome flavor, but sad that the quality has diminished big time. read more

Maybe I'm just being nostalgic of my grandma's caldo and tacos, but these items at Delicias sent me straight back to her kitchen. Wonderful flavor and a perfect combination all around. While the tacos and soup were near perfection, our family also sampled a few other menu items and had mixed reviews. If you head there for a meal make sure to try the molattes, chile colorado and enchiladas. Very friendly, small neighborhood Mexican food cafe. Painted chairs and booths and lots of Christmas decorations when there. Substantial menu; most come for soup at lunch and a small bowl accompanies most menu options. (Clearly made from scratch with lots of vegetables.)Top notch salsa and in house made chips. Big breakfast menu; made to order all the standards rest of day, including huge cheeseburgers but all portions are generous. If i lived in El Paso i would come here weekly. I hate doing bad reviews but if I could give this place a 0 I wouldn't hesitate, don't get me wrong the food is ok but the service is rude. Me and a friend decided to give it a try, we walked in and NOBODY really nobody greeted us or told us if we could sit ourselves, we stayed at the door waiting we didnt want to be rude and just sit ourselves but no help. I tried asking if we could get a table everyone ignored us, 10 min passed. One of the servers yelled at us from the cash register "wichever you like" but she sounded annoyed. The table that we got wasn't completely clean, like they just picked up the plates but they didnt wipe it down. Honestly I didnt wanted to complained we just got a table. Once we sat down nobody showed up for another 20 min not joking, when the server finally arrived we already knew what we wanted gave her the order. At the moment of cashing out same issue, the server just ignored us 10-15 min passed we just left. Sorry not sorry. read more

We went here a few nights ago for the last time!Service in here is just poor. Sandy and Sandra have been the only 2 half decent servers, but it seems they rarely work. Rubi, Jennifer, they are all pretty inattentive spending their time joking around in their area instead of being out with customers to see if they need anything. The food: pretty flavorless. After seeing their ads on TV , we decided to try this place out. I don't know why I hadn't noticed it before as I do drive by there frequently. First, it is pretty small in the strip center so parking can be a problem, especially for handicapped. But once inside, we were lucky to find a table that was not next to the door. We were greeted by a cheerful server and were given menus and the chips and salsa which were very good. She took our order. I will say that it seemed a little long to finally get our order out , red and green enchilada plates. However, they were very good and tasty. I love the deep red sauce on the red ones. The green were good but not as favorable. I really like this place ; however, it is busy and there is no place to wait inside for a table. I do wish them success which seems to be already happening as seen by the many patrons they have. We will be back , just not at peak times. read more

So this place is super close to my house and have been a patron for many years, stopped going because it was usually super busy on weekends for breakfast. Decided to go this past Friday and was pleasantly surprised with all the new menu options...great food, great service and reasonably priced! Anytime you come into this place, it is packed, which is just testimony to how great the food is. Their caldo tlalpeño is my favorite in the sun city. It always boasts a big helping of chicken, avocado, chickpeas, cheese, and veggies. Their caldo de res and caldo de pollo don't disappoint either, but I love the tlalpeño broth best. The rice is always cooked to perfection. I also can't get enough of their pre-meal salsa--spicy and full of flavor. While you may have to wait for a table, it will give you time to peruse the extensive menu with something for everyone's tastebuds. They also serve breakfast anytime! They're so busy in here that they hardly have time to pick up the phone, so plan to come in and eat because you'll be hard-pressed to order for takeout. Family owned. Everything on the menu is fresh, flavorful, and authentic. Delicias is my first stop when I come home to El Paso. I love their machaca breakfast, flavorful and tender brisket with eggs and fresh tortillas. They always have fresh delicious horchata brewing away. Tip, you've gotta try their Chile con queso. I am usually reluctant to give a place one star, but for this place it is well earned. I'll hit the positive stuff first: The place was cute, the decor was nice. I loved the chairs with all the very Mexican motif, very cute. The beef veggie soup was delicious. Now the reason for the one star: Where to start... for whatever reason the wife always craves fajitas on Sunday after all the other Mexican places have closed. This was the only place open and nearby after 6p, thus we came. As you can imagine, the wife ordered a fajitas plate. We aren't overly picky people, but even I can attest to the lack of flavor in the plate, the veggies were barely cooked, and the meat had zero flavor and zero seasonings. They brought her one sad and lonely tortilla to go with it, and no accompanying stuff like the guacamole, sour cream, etc. She had to ask for it three times, and when it was finally at the pick-up window the waiters were too busy watching a video on a phone to bring it to her, so she literally got up and went to get it herself. As a vegetarian (most of the time if you read my other reviews), I had a really hard time finding ANYTHING to eat that did not contain meat or chicken. I'm allergic to chicken and it's not worth the pain. Usually at Mexican restaurants I can find cheese only enchiladas, veggie chimichanga, a yummy vegetarian burrito, or other items. This place had zero, ZERO, options for vegetarian dishes. You'd think a dish like cheese enchiladas, a basic Mexican staple, would be in a family owned restaurant. Anyway, I settled for a bean and cheese burrito, a side of refried beans, and a side of Mexican rice. What a disappointment. Even Taco Bell does a bean and cheese burrito better. The beans in the burrito where the same exact beans sitting in a bowl as my side of beans, with the same three flecks of cheese thrown on top. The rice, though I specifically said I had a chicken allergy, had chicken broth in it. The service was unacceptable. Our waitress was friendly and attentive when she was around. The two male servers were too busy watching videos on their phone to be of any use, let alone actually serve you. I'm not sure what the standard protocol for the check at that place was, but it never came to the table, we had to go up to the register to get it. So lastly, the price. For something that Taco Bell can do better, and with more options, the price was much to high for the food quality, and the service provided. This is my first "I do not recommend this place". At all. As a random side note: I loved the "Huevos Divorciados" entry on the menu (Divorced eggs). I'm sure it's a common enough Mexican dish, but I had never seen it, and I am not Mexican. Whenever my boyfriend says "Do you want to get Mexican tonight?" I know that he really means "Do you want to go to Delicias tonight?" And like any cuisine, I have my favorite... a favorite that was established years ago and will never change (shout out to the Northeast El Zarape!) so while Delicias is good, it doesn't blow me away because I'm comparing it against my favorite. As an out of towner or a local that doesn't have a favorite Mexican restaurant (shame on you!), Delicias will be a good choice to dine to eat the typical El Paso fare. I wouldn't call DC a hole in the wall, but it's not far from it. The tables are a little interesting and appear to be hand crafted. They all have pictures graved into them. We've gone here more times than I can remember and every time I have the feeling of busy walls, but I honestly can't tell you what's on them so perhaps they aren't busy at all... they just give me that feeling. The one thing that I've learned is never wait to be seated. And this actually goes for most Mexican restaurants in the area (key word: most, not all). Seat yourself. Service is pretty average in my opinion. Not slow, but no pep in their step either. There isn't really a feeling of "Glad you came in today!", but it also doesn't have an unwelcoming feeling either. As Amanda C. previously stated, "...big portions you always have to leave half of the plate..." Couldn't agree more! I always have leftovers. Every time I've been here I just order the steak tampiquena. I know I like it and nothing on the menu jumps out at me as "Wow! That's different!" or "Oh, I need to try that!" The menu is the exact same menu I can find in the Mexican restaurant on the next street or the next one or even the next one. The good news is the price is on par with what you'd expect from any Mexican restaurant in EP. The steak tampiquena is a fine choice, nothing in particular that sticks out to me about it, but it's good. The sides are the usual, I just wish the beans came with cheese melting on top to give it a little oomph. All in all a good place for a stop if you're in the area. This is the first restaurant I've been to dine in since COVID. We were greeted by the friendly staff. Everyone inside wore masks. The restaurant is extremely clean & colorful. Our waitress was attentive & helpful. You'll also be welcomed by icons hanging on the wall. We were adequately social distanced between the other customers who dined in. The food was happiness. I forgot how good the Mexican food in EP is. The caldo was perfect, the queso fundido divine, the gorditas were on point, and the milanesa brought me back to the last time I ate good milanesa. After years of being used to eating mediocre Mexican food across the US, Delicias welcomed me home to EP with a wide table of excellent, authentic meals that comforted my soul & made me forget the troubles of 2020. read more

Food was fast. Well my beef tacos were fast. The omelette didn't take much longer. But very yummy for a quick filling lunch. For $20 you can't beat it. Plus there were several choices on the menu.
