Chicken barberries
Michi L.

Our first time here and the food was so good. We feel in love with the Cauliflower starter and the Eggplant Mushroom Saffron m main dish. After years of going out to eat, I finally saw my friend closed her eyes and sway in delights at the taste! The chicken barberries was eaten after the Cauliflower and Eggplant so it was too mild for our palette to truly appreciate - too bad we didn't eat it first. We will be a returning customer!

This place has a modern and attractive atmosphere, making it a nice spot to visit--especially for larger groups. The food and drinks are good, but they feel overpriced for what you get. Service is decent overall, though not particularly standout. The first and only time I went, we ordered the set menu, but it wasn't well explained--so we weren't always sure what each of the dishes was. The menu leans toward healthier options, which is great if that's what you're looking for, but it may not appeal to everyone. For a Michelin-recommended restaurant, I was a bit underwhelmed.

Beef kabab skewer

I always try to be fair, I'd probably have lower expectations if this place wasn't on the Michelin guide; being incredibly familiar with Persian food didn't necessarily help either. I'm not entirely sure what the restaurant concept is, whether it's Persian fusion, Persian inspired or just Persian. And my rating is based on comparing this restaurant to another Michelin guide restaurant, Delbar, in Atlanta, GA. I liked the wine list, and I enjoyed the duck fesenjoon. The fusion of French technique duck in a reduced Persian sauce, fesenjoon, worked really well in my opinion, I'd highly recommend this dish. The service fell short, our server couldn't articulate what the dishes were, and literally responded to our question by reading the menu back to us. I was left without a drink for close to 20 minutes, meaning nobody checked on us. It may have been between shifts, but it doesn't change the fact that we weren't checked on for that long. We also got the salad, it was fresh, light and creative; I'd recommend it. The beef skewer was probably an interpretation of "kabab torsh" but it fell short in my opinion, it didn't have authenticity or flavor. I noticed the restaurant was very popular, so their target audience of Kitsilano locals has worked really well. The ambiance and decorations were very nice. I ended up with 4 stars in my attempt to be very fair. I see room for improvement (service, presentation, and flavor identity) and look forward to them doing better and getting a star one day.

Koofte

Really cute place! I didn't know what to expect cause I'm not familiar with this type of food, but I really enjoyed it. We went as a group of five to celebrate a birthday and we got the family style set menu, which was great so we didn't have to decide what to order. Got lots of different dips to try, but my favourite part were the meat skewers!

Everything about this place was amazing, except the service was a bit hard to come by at the beginning. We waited quite a few minutes to order, but the guy we eventually got was pretty nice. The food was amazing, unique, and tasted great when paired together. The meats were tender and moist, except the duck was a liiiittle dry. The sauces on the side helped supplement it there and all other sauces added great layers to the food provided. The chicken had perfectly cooked and flavored veggies that accented it, and the lamb shank was so juicy and flavorful, nearly falling off the bone. I'll come back whenever I'm back in Vancouver.

We had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food was flavourful. Our favourite was the koofteh meatballs.

Modern Persian cuisine in the Vancouver Kitsilano Beach area. It has been in the Michelin guide for a while so I have high expectations going in, and yet I had a good experience overall. We ordered the following dishes: - Grilled sourdough flatbread and seasonal dips - which is a fennel dip and a carrot hummus dip. They're a bit on the saltier side standalone but great pairing with the flatbread. The flatbread is hard to cut but easy to tear apart - Koofteh - 3 meatballs with plums inside for the additional sweetness. I enjoyed the sauce and the different take of ground beef dish that is usually served in the Mediterranean restaurants. Note the meatballs are on the softer side - Mushrooms, saffron, and cashews - hearty saffron stew with generous amounts of mushrooms. It is served with crispy rice which has its own aroma. The rice is more hard than crispy though - Lamb shank - a bit gamey but my favorite dish here. It was so tender and the sauce goes well with the herbed rice. The flavor profile didn't exactly match up to the rice due to the clash of herbs but I still enjoyed the composition - Tumeric and orange cake - not too sweet which is nice, and I love the decoration. The cake itself was a little bit on the drier side - Saffron Negroni - decent cocktail; didn't really taste much saffron - Gole Yakh "Ice Flower" - cocktail with ice cider which I was intrigued with. Sweet and herbal - I'd recommend this Service is decent and on par with the nicer places - courses came in good cadence and they wiped the table before dessert. Overall, nice flavors and modern take, though the food could be a bit improved given the accolades.

The little sweet house made bites served with the bill

Wow, this was fantastic!! Everything was absolutely delicious. Not even a quibble to be made. We started with the sourdough flatbread of my dreams with two kinds of dip: today's offerings were a lovely green lentil dip with pistachios, and a beautiful carrot and tahini dip with walnuts. Both were superb. The bread was top notch. Next, we shared the beef short rib special. WOW. SO. GOOD. Every element on the plate sang - the green sauce on the bottom of the plate tied all the components together. We the shared the braised lamb shanks. Another stellar dish, very unctuous and rich, served with a generous side of rice that seemed like it was at least half fresh herbs. Quite fantastic, and the sauce is delectable. Finally, we had the incomparable baklava made by the owner's mom - unlike most, this does not come soaked in a sugar or honey syrup. Instead, the sweet stickiness is provided by a mixture of dates and walnuts, which is rolled into little phyllo cigars. Served with a lovely unsweetened cream and some fruit. It was so good I ordered a second one to take home!! The service was warm, friendly and helpful. The owner and his mom stopped by the table to say hello. What a phenomenal place. By the time we left at 7:30pm, it was full of happy people. On a Monday. In today's economy. Tells you that they are definitely doing something very right.

Turmeric and orange cake

I had this place on my list for a long time so I was excited to finally check it off. Honestly, it lived up to the hype! We came here for their dine-out menu where you got 3 courses for $55/pp for dinner ($35/pp for lunch). For appies we got their sourdough with dips which were amazing! They had hazelnut in one of their dips which was so unexpected but tasted incredible! And we got their roasted cauliflower which was really good too, the cauliflower was cooked very well and came with hummus on the bottom. For mains we got their braised beef which was my favourite, it was a bit sour but had a lot of flavours!! And we also got their chicken and barberries, it was also EXCELLENT! The chicken was so tender and went so well with the barberries which I was very surprised about. Lastly, for dessert we got their turmeric and orange cake and their saffron ice cream. The cake was a bit dry but when paired with the ice cream tasted incredible!! Their service was also phenomenal, they were so attentive and didn't bring the dishes out till we were done with our first, second, and third course. Very cute space, super asthetic! I would definitely go back there!

The food came out fresh and fast. The server seated us promptly and everything came out at a great pace. It is a good size restaurant with outdoor seating which is pet friendly, indoor seating and a bar. We ordered the prefix menu. Would highly recommend!

Review: Delara (Brunch in 2023 & Family-Style Dinner in May 2025)Rating: 7.5/10 I've visited Delara twice--once for brunch in 2023 and more recently in May 2025 for their $65 family-style dinner. As a Michelin-recommended restaurant, they offer a unique take on Persian-inspired cuisine at a price point that feels fair for the quality and quantity of food served. Their menu shines in the early courses. I loved the grilled sourdough bread with seasonal dips (lentil and carrot), marinated smoked olives with chili and molasses, and roasted asparagus with za'atar--flavorful, balanced, and beautifully presented. These were easily the highlights of the meal. However, the main courses didn't quite deliver for me. The charcoal-grilled beef skewers were a bit bland and tough on their own. The rice and warm bulgur with barberries and the seasonal salad (greens with feta, turnips, nuts, and orange dressing) were decent but not particularly memorable. Desserts included plum and orange blossom ice cream and baklava with walnut, date, and honey. While the combinations were interesting, the flavors didn't quite match my personal preferences. Service was attentive, though slightly too focused on upselling, which detracted a bit from the relaxed dining atmosphere. From my earlier brunch visit, I tried: * Koofteh ($18) - Beef, rice, split peas, herbs, walnut, and plums, served with flatbread. Good concept, but the rice-to-beef ratio felt off. * Kookoo Sabzi Sandwich ($16) - Herb fritters with walnut and barberries, served with lemony mayo, feta, and greens. Very flavorful and satisfying. * Shorbet ($6) - Refreshing but a bit too sweet for my taste. Overall, I'd give Delara a 7.5/10. It's a beautifully designed space with thoughtful dishes, especially on the appetizer side, and fair pricing.

Set a reservation online fairly easy, and we were promptly seated in the front room that had a sky light and window to the street. We got a few cocktails. For food we ordered the sourdough and seasonal dips, cauliflower dish, a beef dish, plum dish, and the tahdeeg that comes with it. The food was amazing, great flavour and the ambiance and decor was lovely. In terms of service, one server took our order, and then we had a new server. The first server we overheard speaking about the guests, which I would recommend to be mindful of when you are in guest areas. The second server was friendly happy to help and even offered recommendations of things in the area. Thank you!

We had gheymeh and zereshk polo, none of them were authentic or good. The only good thing was the plating.

When I arrived the food was ready, however, not a single staff member was helpful and actually quite rude as I tried to get my order. Ended up speaking to a host and 4 staff just to figure out the pick up. When I got home the food did not match what was was described, salmon skewers were only baked salmon filet, the $9.99 salad was less than a cup of diced tomato and cucumber and the beef skewer was dry and under seasoned. Surprising considering how many great reviews there are. With so many choices for great Persian food on the North Shore I will go some place else next time.

This place looks so pretty on the outside with the different coloured flowers and stained glass windows but when you walk in, your jaw will drop to the floor! It is stunning beyond words with all types of Persian decor scattered throughout the restaurant in every nook and cranny. My eyes couldn't stop scanning the place and seeing something new each and every time. Beautiful colours of red, gold and various others popping out all over the place. The enormous golden samovars just screamed luxe. Even the menus have a carpet like material on the outside...I just couldn't believe how much attention to detail there was in this stunning restaurant. It is an experience that transforms you to the Middle East that makes you feel like royalty! The service is quick and friendly even though they are so so so sooooo busy! Now let's get to the food...believe it or not but it's just as amazing as the decor. The koobideh beef is juicy and very thick too. The joojeh chicken is super tender and melts in your mouth. The shishlik was the star, even in a well done form it was somehow still tender and juicy! The yogurt drink is refreshing, the Akbar mashti ice cream is fragrant and sweet and you can't go wrong with ordering anything on this fantastic menu. My deepest compliments to the chef!!! I'd say the Akbar joojeh dish could do with a touch less oil and their tea could've been more dark and fragrant as it was quite bland after the symphony my senses had gone through and the baklava would've been nice in Persian style instead of Arabic to tie in with the atmosphere more but these are very nit picky types of comments as this place is the best one in the lower mainland to go to especially when you're craving middle eastern eats. I wish I took more photos but I was in too much of a state of trance! Please do yourself a favour and run over to akbarjoojeh!

**Will not honour valid gift cards**…read more Have been a customer for many years. Recently, found some gift cards I purchased awhile back and went with my boyfriend for lunch at the Cazba Davie location to redeem the gift cards on December 29, 2025. Long story short, they refused to honour the gift cards because they "changed their computer system" and said the gift cards therefore expire and cannot be used. I told them that the terms and conditions of the gift card literally states to use the gift card like "cash" and according to BC laws that gift cards are not allowed to be expired unless in very specific circumstances, which does not include a system change. Eventually, their general manager, Mr. Behruz Sigari, spoke to me on the phone and promised that he would call Moneris to find out my gift card balance and then contact me with a resolution soon. I left with his email (b.sigari@gmail.com) and emailed him twice but he has never replied. Clearly, they are willing to engaged in unethical and illegal business practices stealing funds from customers even when educated about gift card laws. I have since reported them to Consumer Protection BC and will never be a customer of their's for their lies and horrible treatment. Lesson learned: always use your gift cards as soon as you can.
