I was excited to find this Del Taco after a hectic day driving around in an area we weren't familiar with...the lady at the drive thru was very kind and actually gave me a patient smile as we tried to figure out our order. Our fish taco was excellent as were the Big Fat seasoned beef tacos....the large drink was huge (seemed almost like a 2 liter drink, lol). The location is somewhat conveniently located but a little awkward to navigate... Stopped in and ordered inside rather than using the drive-thru. Restaurant is big with lots of tables. The guy who took our order was friendly, which was appreciated. The drive-thru was very busy, but unfortunately we waited about 17 minutes for our food while I watched at least six cars get their orders through the drive-thru, and I'm pretty sure I missed a few more. We went up twice to ask about our order and were told they were working on it. Our order was very simple--two tacos, one fry, and a shake--so it was frustrating to see people who ordered after us get their food first. To their credit, the employee who took our order did apologize for the wait, which helped, but it was still annoying. That said, the food was fresh and tasted fantastic. Del Taco still has some of the best shakes around. If they can balance in-store orders better with the drive-thru, this would easily be a higher rating. read more

Started with the drive through window lady taking the order, she rushed me as soon as I got to the window, mind you I don't usually go to Del Taco so I'm not sure what's on the menu, I can count the times I've eaten here maybe 3 my whole life. The lady was rude when I got to the window to pay. She did not acknowledge us although the window was open and she was standing there having a conversation with her coworkers not work related. When she finally acknowledged us she sounded bothered and like she did not want to be there that Sunday afternoon. The food was mediocre and not what I expected. Husband and I love Del taco but every time we come it's late hours and there's this older lady that's kind of chubby and grey hair and the cook is an older white guy and both of them are the rudest workers and it sucks because we live a block away and this is why we still go there from time to time. We were about to ask him for some extra napkins and as my husband was talking, he immediately cut him off mid sentence and all he said was "OUT" we weren't sure what he meant by that and he proceeds to repeat it again "OUT" in the rudest way and he was talking about the sauces which we weren't even going to ask for in the first place. Well, we decided to go back and try it again on Magnolia Ave Santee. It used to be the Only Del Taco in San Diego County Not by the people who own ALL the rest of the DTs. Their quality has changed so much that it is still a virtual ghost town...*crickets*... I got my usual Green Burrito. The size DIFFETENCE was hugely noticable. The tortilla wrapped around THREE TIMES!!! Then even though a little bigger than the snack burrito, the tortilla was Completely DRIED OUT. By the time I got near the bottom, it was so Hard, it was inedible. The french fries were good. We asked for them to be lightly cooked and fluffy. We found if you don't ask, their New owners time frame for cooking them is causing them to be nearly burnt. My husband says his crispy chicken tacos were "ok". This is NOT A STAFF ISSUE!!! I've had good and bad experiences here so it really depends on the staff. I grew up eating del taco and I love their cheesecake bites and chili cheese fries. For some reason every time I've gotten the cheesecake bites before 7pm they are overcooked and just don't taste right and difficult to chew due to the caramel burning. But at night when I've gotten them they are cooked perfectly, so I think just consistency in training is needed. I've gotten tostadas just thrown in a bag so when I opened the box the toppings were off and a mess. I think they just need to be consistent with training so everything is handled and cooked the same every time. read more

This is more a review of the Beyond Avocado Tacos more than the franchise establishment itself, though I will say it's conveniently located next my kickboxing studio. Being completely empty in the middle of the day on a Monday is a little concerning, but easier for me to order. The plant-based Beyond taco honestly tastes like any other regular taco! My only issue is with the giant slice of avocado and its placement ON TOP of the taco instead of inside it. Made a corporate complaint, haven't heard back so I'll make one here as well. I went through the drive thru a couple nights ago. Witnessed the women that was working the cashier and drive thru handle fries. At first I didn't say anything because I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt that she would wash them after I handed her my cash. She did not, and again she went to handle the fries and touch them with her dirty hands. I called her over and confronted her. I said, "Are you really handling food and cash?" She just nodded yes. Called this other lady (not even sure if she was the manager) she asked me what the issue was and I told her. Her exact response was "I keep telling them not to do that but they just don't listen."
