I ordered 6 chicken soft tacos and one had A hair sticking out of it. I tried to call but They didn't answer.

This is a standard pattern Del Taco, with pretty solid cleanliness and solid food. I was deeply distraught by the elimination of the last normal combo meal without french fries, as I preferred the tacos (it isn't Del French Fry). The bathrooms are annoyingly outside, but they don't seem to be locked frequently. If you want Americanized-Mexican fast food, Del Taco is king. The food is always fresh and the price is right. I've always liked dining at Del Taco but when I do I don't like to hear the shift managers (I'm assuming because they wore the black shirts) discussing why they don't like an employee (after she leaves) is simply uncalled for, especially in front of other junior employees. This place is a mile from my house and the closest fast food. I don't eat much fast food but I was happy a few years back when they started serving turkey tacos, with 1/3 less fat than the ground beef, and they taste great. They've become a staple at our house, a once or twice a week thing. Well, they're gone. Replaced by some 'plant based' fake meat something. This is a blue collar town. No vegan presence at all. OK, so whenever I grab a bag of food from a drive through I try to check my order to make sure I got everything I ordered.. more often than not, I drive away missing one or two items. This Del taco however, always gets the order right, and it always ends up in the bag! so props to that. This is a rather short review. First of all, I don't review local fast food chains on Yelp UNLESS I have a less than average experience, OR a significantly better than average experience. Basically if it falls into a 2,3 or 4-star category you won't see it from me. That being said, WHY doesn't this Del Taco take credit/debit cards? It should be chain-wide. Last night I started into the drive thru when I saw a big sign that said "Cash Only in Drive-Thru." There was nobody behind me so I backed up, and parked. I went inside and saw a sign on the register that said "Cash Only." I asked the employee "So you don't take credit or debit cards period?" She said "no." I asked "Then why does it say "Cash Only in Drive Thru?" She responded "We put the sign up so people with credit cards won't go in the Drive-Thru." I said "Well, I guess I'm not eating here then" and I walked out. The place has an ATM machine in it, but it's one of those independent ATM's that charge you $7 (j/k) in transaction fees. Forget that!! It's also a dingy, worn-out interior. The defnitely need a remodel. If they can't take credit/debit cards, they'll never raise enough to pay for the remodel. My family and I went there yesterday for a quick bite before a game. Had never been there before but it was close to where we had to be. It was around 1 PM and I'm going to keep it short. Placed order that included fries. Pay for said order. Same clerk who took my payment then walks to the fry bin and with her BARE HANDS picks up fries and stuffs them in little paper container. We are watching through the window. Attempts to give me fries. I ask her did she just use her bare hands to pack the fries. Just stares at me. I ask was it company protocol to handle food with bare hands, especially dirty hands. She says, "No." Then, "Yes." ??? I ask for fresh fries. She takes the fries back to the bin, dumps them back in, shakes them around a bit. Another older gentleman comes up and puts them in paper sack. Opens window asks, "Do you want salt?" Tell them they have got to be F'ing kidding me! Asks for manager. Older gentleman comes up and just stares at me. I give them their food back and ask for a refund. Dude asks for my card, closes the window, processes the return, gives me my card and walks away. No greeting, no apology, nothing. HORRIBLE IN EVERY WAY. read more

I live in Santee and seldom drive by this location, but stopped in today with my coupons in hand. I ordered the fish tacos and loved them! The people behind the counter were great and patient with me while I looked at all my options and answered all my questions. Unfortunately, I witnessed a couple -- older man and probably his mother -- who were not pleased and said they would start a blast on social media. It seems they had a T-Mobile offer for some Del Taco deal but it evidently said to go from that offer through the Del Taco app which they had not done. The man behind the counter explained how it was supposed to work and that he needed the bar code from the Del Taco app but the couple said they didn't have and didn't want to add that app. He explained he needed that bar code in order to enter the order into the system. (It would be like me saying I know there are coupons and insisting they honor the coupons even though I don't have them with me in any form.) I kind of sympathized with the older people as I am also older and have trouble with technology, but they seemed to just want to be angry at the employee instead of finding out how to use the T-Mobile app as intended and instructed. I offered them my coupons to help them out but they said no and just wanted to complain about customer service, it seemed. Anyway, I am a disinterested witness but wanted to stand up for the employees; we older people must frequently really be a trial! read more

Most horrible experience of my life!! If I could return fast food I would! Shelly who was apparently the shift leader of the night called me a LIAR in front of other customs. I went through the drive thru as I was pulling around after receiving my food I noticed I was missing a burrito and a churro I went inside to get them and another nice lady tried to help me but SHELLY wouldn't let her she told her that I'm a liar and the food is in my bag I then said I can go them and show you it isn't and the nice lady said no I will just give them to you! Definitely the worst customer service (and food) that I have ever gotten from any place in my entire life.... hubby and I roll up not knowing they are about to close and order our food. We were very polite, in fact though we used "please and thank you" a few times we didn't get a you're welcome or a thank you back. Once we got the food we parked in the lot of del taco. Hubby grabs a fry and comments on how it wasnt really cooked... but opens up his food and there weren't any problems with the rest of his order. I grab my food from the bag and the two chicken tacos I ordered are COLD TO THE TOUCH. I was upset cause I haven't eaten much all day and I know there's no way they served me warm food for it to be this cold in such a short period of time. So we drive back through the drive through and see they are closed but theres still every employee inside and lights are still on. Hubby knocks while looking an employee in the eye who acts oblivious, so I get out of the car and knock on the window showing them my tacos... a different kid comes to the window. I let him know my tacos are cold to the touch almost refrigerated and if he would please remake them. He then tells me "well everything is already put away we are closed" i continue to tell him that we literally ordered 3 minutes ago..... he says they are closed and he cant do anything for me (isnt this where he's supposed to at least offer a refund?) Yeah. Needless to say this is a terrible place to eat, and the employees here have AWFUL attitudes. Used drive thru. First thing I heard was woman loudly and angrily say that she was trying to take an order. Then I placed my order for a drink and 2 tacos. When I got to window she was clearly not happy. I paid she gave me 2 drinks. I told her I had ordered one. She told people in her area that she swore I ordered two. She called someone over and deducted one drink and clearly quite mad (at everyone) gave me my food. I took it back to work and found that I got one rather than 2 tacos. If you go here do yourself a favor and order at least 1 chicken soft taco you will be hooked. Been coming here for at least 15 years. Now, my son is coming here for the Bean Burrito. They actually make their beans fresh on premise. It's a healthier alternative to a lot of crap he could possibly eat. But, my parents take him to get his burrito after church every Sunday finished with a chocolate fudge sundae or chocolate shake shared with Grandpa. Staff is super friendly, and always knows his order - no cheese or sauce, just beans, lol. It's been a fun tradition for him and the grandparents. I've been in to this location several times and seen less then ideal hygienic practices. I've asked about the non-gloved prep workers twice and was told "state law doesn't require them". Understood. But when I see no hand washing sink in site , workers washing dishes and IMMEDIATELY return to the food line , I'm really bothered. I've worked in several food service jobs and worn single use or full on gloves anytime I came in contact with food. I can't stomach to eat the food anymore when I see workers not washing hands , and touching every surface from the drive thru window to the order screen without stopping. I have been eating at this Del Taco for over 20 years. I think it's great that most of the same employees are still there. I don't have any complaint on the food, I am usually always happy. My problem is with one of the managers, maybe even the owner? He's the older gentleman that doesn't seem to be there as often as the other employees. One time we went there I had several children with me for a field trip. Two sisters ordered together and decided to share a drink because they were limited on how much they could spend. One of the girls backwashes when she drinks so the other one asked if she could have a small water cup just so she could pour some into it for her sister. The older man refused because those are only for water. We know now that we could have gotten a cup of water, poured the water out, then used it the way we wanted to. The kids were so respectful and well behaved, so it bothered me that this was an issue. Another thing that is irritating is how he is with the hot sauce and ketchup. Whenever I order a full meal, I ask for a lot of mild sauce, thinking I will get at least five. He gives me one or two. He is the only one that does this and it's funny because they leave it out in the restaurant. So if I went in, I could grab 50 and no one would know the difference. Kudos to Mariah and some of the other staff who have been there several years. They are friendly and actually seem to enjoy their job despite working for the man who seems to hate being there. I will continue to eat there, but will most likely make sure he isn't there first. read more

Came in about 930pm store was dead. Went through the drive thru and ordered my usual bean an cheese burritos. My only request was to have them grilled so the tortilla is crunchy.. I have ordered these before with no problem. The woman inside told me she had no way to grill the burritos. She was lying to me, and I don't appreciate being lied too. I don't understand why its so hard to grill a burrito. since I felt lied to I did not even buy any food. I simply left. I will take my money somewhere where I will not be lied to. This woman is the same woman on a different occasion who was talking to coworkers about using prescription drugs to get high while handing me my food. Worst customer service I have ever experienced in a food establishment. The lady at the drive thru window, the older woman with no name tag but she has redness on her cheeks, working tonight was terrible. First we asked if we can have a minute to decide what we want. Then when we say we're ready she goes "Yay......." in the most monotone voice. Rude off the bat. Then when we ask for one of the orders to have no tomatoes she pauses and lets out a huge sigh and just says "Yeah." So we get our food she gave us 10 sauces. (We ordered 6 tacos and I like to use a few per taco) so my fiancé asked "Do you think we can have a few extra sauces?" (VERY POLITELY MAY I ADD), and she says "I put the sauces in the bag". And he said "i know is it okay if we have a few extra?" And she says "I gave you a lot in the bag." (There were 10). So we had to pull to the front and go inside just to get 4 extra packs. I will never ever ever come to this location ever again just by the small chance that she will ever be working if I did come back. Honestly a little uncomfortable even eating the food. Feel a little targeted just for spending my money on food. Terrible service. Decided on Del Taco tonight instead of the Taco Bell closer to home and I truly regret it. read more
