People are quick to post negativity, but effort should be given when a place like this does service and food right. This Del Taco Location is absolutely horrid, I will tell everyone to stay far away from this location, right now. The service was horrible they were very slow and my order was sitting there for 5+ minutes, and they never asked for our food after it was sitting there for a long time. I went there 2 times to get something quick to eat and both times were trash. The first time I got a burger and fries, they were overcooked and burnt to the max, where you couldn't even finish them. My second time is the last time coming back to this location because they were so bad, they didn't ever care we were in a rush and they gave us a bad attitude. My Dad got a green burrito and the beans tasted weird, like really old beans that been sitting out for days, and the tortillas was not cooked all the way and it tasted disgusting. I got a Bacon Cheeseburger and Fries, and they were horrid my Bacon Cheeseburger was overcooked that it tasted like rubber and nothing, and the fries were so salty I could barely finish them without drinking water. The only thing I didn't like about them was they had their mild sauce inside of the roller. I'd prefer to put my own sauce in it. We also got the hasbrown sticks. They were good and crispy. The place was cold. Much colder than loves, a bit too cold for comfort. The place was clean and inviting as a fast food joint can be. Customer Service was good. Very disappointing experience at Del Taco. We came as a family of four, each of us had our own valid coupon for the "Buy 1, Get 1 Free" taco offer. According to the coupon, it clearly states "one coupon per person per visit." However, the staff refused to honor more than one coupon, even though we were four separate people trying to order individually. To make things worse, the employee ignored us and made no effort to explain or help. It felt very unprofessional and disrespectful. We left without ordering, extremely frustrated. The crispy value tacos tasted funny. I ordered through the drive thru. The tacos looked great. But I took a big bite and it tasted strange. The ground beef had a strange flavor, to me it had hints of mint. Blah! My husband said the same thing, he spit his out. We also ordered fries. They were fried to a crispy crunch. They looked ok but so did the taco. I ate a couple of fries after taking the bite of the taco. They tasted fine. However, I couldn't enjoy them. My last visit to this Del Taco was subpar and wanted to give them another shot. I ordered two regular tacos and 3 tostadas. The tacos had handfuls of cheese and a small amount of taco meat that was not that warm and didn't taste right. The tostadas looked ok but the beans were luke warm at best. Like they've been setting in pot on a shelf. I enjoy other Del Tacos, but this has to be the worst one. The health department needs to visit this place. What a terrific del taco that certainly needs based on the current 2 stars. This is a truck stop city so be aware that a little attitude is expected. Fries were super tasty and freshly cooked, same with chicken soft taco, which was really delicious and definitely generously bigger than any Los Angeles county del taco we've ever had. I think this is the first Del Taco you hit if you're driving from SF to LA and change from 580 to the 5 and doesn't require backtracking. It's about 1.5-2 hrs into your drive, so definitely stop, order yourself a Beyond Avo Taco & Beyond 8 Layer Veggie Burrito before heading onto the rest of your drive. Workers have always been nice, tables are cleaned with sauces stocked, outlets at every booth, and decently clean bathrooms in the convenience store next door. Should've drove off/heeded the warning when we were asked to hold for 10 minutes, even though we were the only car in the drive-through @ Midnight on a Saturday... Placed our order: 1 grilled chicken burrito, 1 spicy chicken burrito, 3 fries, 4 tacos & 1 sprite, then pulled up to the window to pay. First thing we noticed? One of the female employees who was wearing an orange shirt w/ "Queso" plastered on the back (one of her arms sleeved) standing behind the drive-through attendant holding a personal tray/box of fries & NO MASK... She was hovering around the attendant, then picked up a bottle & her fries & headed towards the back. Was confused, considering there was a Del Taco sticker for "Merced County" posted on the drive-through window w/ check-marks stating how they've covered all bases in regards to COVID-19 for food handling/safety/sanitary measures, etc... (Obviously NOT the case). I reversed the car a bit to take a peek at the rest of the staff (particularly those tending to our order). There was one employee stationed @ the makeline table (gloved & masked), so all appeared ok... That was until the "maskless bandit," popped back out of the back room & then hovered/chatted in front of the food as it was being prepared. We watched her walking back/forth, back to the front again (eating fries & sipping on her drink), then disappeared again to the back room. The drive through attendant wrapped up the order (masked & gloved), though the last thing I wanted to do at this point was touch any of my food anyway (w/ the exception of the fries, which were piping hot). Hopped back onto Highway 5 & realized they had forgotten my Sprite & one of the fries, (but didn't feel like backtracking & waiting another 20 minutes or so to correct). $26 spent for basically 2 orders of fries, considering I dumped the tacos/burritos in the garbage as soon as we got home (didn't feel like taking any chances). Good thing I still had leftovers (Teriyaki chicken) in the fridge prior to our 1-day UCI trip w/ the oldest. Gave me enough energy to eat & write-up this horrendous experience @ the Santa Nella (Gustine, CA) Del Taco location... Their service seems to have taken a dive. The drive thru window seems to handle ONE and only ONE car at a time, before they take the next order. Today there were 2 cars ahead of me. It took over 10 minutes for me to get to the speaker to order. I was told to wait a minute. 9 minutes later, I was told the same thing. I told them to go to hell, backed up and left. Imagine, waiting 20 minutes, at 11:30 AM on a Monday, and not even get a chance to order. What the hell are they doing in there??? The service at this location used to be fantastic.
