Loved the addition of cotija cheese on the nachos and the portion was huge, which I appreciated since they were not cheap. At the salsa bar they have 4 spicy options (2 green, 2 red), a pick de gallo with jalapeños, onion/cilantro, cucumbers, and cut limes. Chips are sold separately. They have inside seating and outside too. Some picnic tables by the road with a good amount of shade. Finally had the chance to stop by one of the Tacos Ameca # 1 spot. Man, was I sleeping when I pass through Gilroy! The food here is fire! I ended up getting a Super Wet Shrimp burrito. Great flavor with grilled shrimp! Nice red sauce either way a mild kick. Added more spicy salsa to get the kick I love on my food. Got a Pastor taco and this was larger than o expected. They serve you 2 flour tortillas with meat. You got to the topping bar to add everything else you would like. This was a very good stop finally! Came to this local taco spot right after a rally, and the tacos were top tier. They were making all the tortillas fresh, and I ended up ordering the taco deal which came with 3 tacos and a fountain drink. I got one al pastor, one carne asada, and a carnitas. Easily, Hands Down, Thee BEST tacos I've ever had! As you walk in you see picnic tables set up, and all the hustle and bustle of the cooking to your left. Order counter is straight to the back. Sometimes you just have to wait for a good taco Handmade tortilla , a salad bar with very options of salsa that you can serve in your own, no limit on the lemon or cucumbers My only concern is sometimes you just have to wait in line and they're not too quick to get your order the menu is confusing but if you know, what are you gonna get you're good to go. Everything sucked. The lady taking my order was very blunt, she seemed very irritated. My order was wrong twice and the food was extremely salty. I then bought some chips which were 7 dollars kind of crazy but I bought them anyways. We called a friend asking for recommendations for the best tacos in Gilroy and this was his go-to spot. Hands down the best tacos we've had in a while! The restaurant was busy but a solid flow of both sit-down and takeout patrons. The wait to order wasn't long at all and the wait for food was maybe 10 minutes. They offer a great sauce bar with to-go cups to fill while you're waiting, and there's a good amount of seating. We tried the Tacos Dorados and the Alambre, both were excellent! The tacos were crunchy, meat was tender and juicy, and the toppings were fresh. The Alambre was absolutely fantastic - chorizo was a good amount of salt, lots of cheese, the onions and peppers were crunchy, and it arrived on a hot skillet. It was an average Tuesday night when I went in so it wasn't busy nor too loud. The prices online do not reflect the prices in store at all. The burrito isn't $12 after tax. It's $21!!! I placed an order over the phone and expected to pay about $20 in total for my food I ended up paying $45!!!! Horrendous experience. Never coming back. If they want legit restaurant sit down prices then bring the servers and bussers and the whole shebang I also called ahead and said I was going to be there in 15 mins and she said the food would be ready then. False. I had to wait an additional 15 mins. I also asked for the burrito to be of flour tortilla but they gave me corn. Beware of false prices online and a long wait. Finally got my taco fix in Cali. Visiting from out of town headed down from San Jose to Gilroy, my BFF found this place on Yelp. We needed food and gas and saw this little gem off the beaten path. Only regret is not ordering two more pastor tacos, they have a spigot going on the kitchen. Totally worth the $4.50 for tacos. And the salsa bar was clean and plentiful. Service is self service order on one side and pick up at kitchen. They have digital menu boards at ordering station next to beverages. Grab a Mexican Coke while you're at it.
