This is the slowest Del taco I've ever been to in my entire life. They have to get this figured out. It has never been quick here. Love the food but they need to get this figured out or they're going to go under. One time I was here for 35 minutes before I got my food in the dining. This time in the drive-through I was the only one basically and it still took 10 or 15 minutes. UPDATE 3 months later: Food was still a little bit on the slow side but had it in about 10 minutes instead of 35 like before. Not bad. Getting better. Will raise it to a 4 star since they seem to be getting it together. Keep it up! read more

Got food poisoning here, was one of two possible culprits: Ice in my coke zero, or the epic 3-meat burrito. I realize this type of food has the Taco Bell reputation, but this was a no-bullsh-t incident that put me down for several days puking out both ends. Avoid. read more

I just tried the new Del Taco in chico for the 1st time. Went into the drive through and was helped by the most present Lady! She listened to my order, gave me a few suggestions which I asked for & repeated it back to make sure it was correct. I was very impressed that she got my wife's order correct because most places don't. Definitely will be back! mostly because of the GREAT SERVICE from the Lady in the drive through!! read more

The food service was better when they first opened the establishment. However, it has gone down since then. Half the time I come here between 9pm-940pm they always say, "Our grill is closed for cleaning"...literally like every time, it's so annoying. (That's probably why there's no line when I get there) I came on Wednesday 2/5/20 around 930pm they said the grill was closed. Our food was semi warm, it was gross! We ordered a large fry and even the fries were semi warm by the time we got home they were cold, we like literally only 3miles from the place. The chili fries were a burger box and not the regular yellow box they usually come in. Not sure if they were trying to be funny because we asked for a burger and that's when they told us the grill was closed. Either way, the food terrible, we ended up throwing it away. Since everyone is dancing around the truth, I'll go ahead and say it. This is the most authentic Mexican food in Chico. Amen to that amigos. But that's not saying much because Chico's Mexican food is embarrassingly terrible. read more

This place is crap!! Paid almost 9 dollars for a #9. Burrito was very small. The taco was sub par. The fries were cold like they were sitting in a walk in cooler before they were served to me. In the drive though window. I watched the attended drop food. And look at me to see if I was watching her.instead of fixing it and serving non dropped food she bagged it up and was ready to serve it to the car behind me. They were super busy because they were new but the workers were all very nice to us and patient. I have never been before so it was hard to decide. The only reason they get 4 stars instead of 5 is their speaker outside for ordering kept coming through unclear and the poor nice girl could barely hear us. Other than that great service read more

Was so excited that Del Taco finally arrived in Chico but what a tremendous letdown! The first time I went the wait time was ridiculous, over 15 minutes sitting in the drive-thru. When I finally got to the window, the employee was quite rude when I asked why it had taken so long. Then, of course, my order was terrible. Asked for green burritos but nope, no sauce at all. Fries were undercooked, practically raw as if they had been so frantic to get the orders out that they forgot to cook the food. I figured hey, it's a new thing and they are working out the kinks so I'll give them another try. That was the second and final mistake as I will not be back! Went inside this time and while the place looks as nice as it should for being a new business the service was still lousy! Took close to 10 minutes for the cashier to ring up the 3 people in front of me then as I walked up, the cashier actually just walked away, didn't greet me, say she'd be with me in a minute or anything. When she came back, I placed my order and was told it would be ready soon as possible, no apology or thank you. As I stood waiting, they messed up 2 of the 3 orders of the people who were in front of me, which just increased my wait time as the manager actually asked the 2nd party if they "wanted the food or not". I finally got my food and at least this time my order was right though the food seemed a little bland. While I understand that new businesses will have their issues and frustrations, I am sure the Chico location is owned and managed by the same people as the Yuba City store so I don't really understand this lackluster food and the incredibly incompetent staff and management. They should probably look to get someone in there to show them what customer service really means and turn that place around before their reputation is permanently scarred. Greeted and served in the drive thru by a wonderful person named Karen. Only two cars in front of me with a reasonable wait time. I ordered 2 regular crispy tacos and a combo burrito (beef & beans) with red sauce and extra mild sauce. When I was handed the bag it was very heavy. I thought they had screwed up. They had not. Just decent sized servings. The Del taco was large. I think I really wanted a value taco. It was full of meat, cheese. The mild taco sauce was to mild for me, almost tasteless. I'll learn. The burrito was great. It almost seemed like it had a smokey taste. It was perfect. Tacos (large) $1.39. Combo burrito $1.19. Pretty reasonable. I'll try other menu items the next time. Probably the worst addition we could have hoped for to the vibrant fast food community here in Chico. This establishment is a shame to the beautiful K Junes and T Bell across the street. I came in hoping for something similar to the "double chalupa" item from Taco Bell. They had nothing similar. Sad! Instead got a chicken burrito, it had no sauce. Literally just chicken in a tortilla! To think I could have had a delicious double coonlupa across the street! Fries were ok, but the soda machine was flat and sucked. Tried to order two different things over an hour before they closed for the night, they told me that they couldn't cook either of the items I wanted, because their grill was already cleaned for the night? Excuse me? It's your job to serve food up until the very minute you close and lock your doors, if you close at midnight, and someone orders something at 11:59 and dirties up your grill, guess what? It's your damn job to cook the food, and then re-clean the grill. Give me a break. Backed out of the drive thru, and went to Taco Bell (also closes at midnight) who will gladly serve food until they are officially closed. read more

Their box for burgers says "The favorite burger of taco lovers". Only if you like to eat garbage. Why get a burger at a taco place? Good question. An even better one is why do they have this on their menu? The bun was so stale I couldn't eat it. There was about 3 strips of lettuce and no seasoning whatsoever on the black hockey pucks. This burger makes a double cheeseburger at McDonald's look huge. The fries are horrible. Greasy, soggy, and undercooked. Don't make the same mistake I did. Don't ever get a burger from here. Went last night at 7:30 pm for the first time because I had heard they were disorganized when they first opened and figured by now they would have it sorted out. Always love DT's other locations and didn't want to be disappointed. Well, I obviously didn't give them enough time. I waited inside 12 minutes for a bean burrito and fries. There were 3 small orders before me. One had half the items missing and the customer came to get the other items which hadn't been made. Of the 5 employees, only one was preparing food. The burrito was ok but the fries were cold and over salted. I ordered to eat in and the place was freezing! I was so cold by the time I got my food that I wolfed it down just to get out of there. Won't be back. Too bad. read more
