I got the BAS Eggs Benedict with Jalapeño glazed bacon!!!! Oh! My! Gosh! It was such a beautiful spin off of the classic!!! Spinach, flavorful bacon, avocado and creamy hollandaise sauce! And the hash browns were PERFECTLY crispy!!!!! Pancakes were light and fluffy while the chicken fried steak was mouthwateringly cooked to perfection...it did not have any gristle and it was not heavy with grease! The go to was to tell us the wait was a half an hour whereas it turned out to be an hour and a half. What a disappointment! My husband and I have eaten here when passing through Redding over the past several years and it was always fantastic. No longer. We did not eat any breakfast and drove for hours from Oregon, saving our appetites and looking forward to another great veggie omelette, some crispy hash browns and based on our previous experiences, a completely delicious brunch. Instead, we got mushy vegetables in a crappy omelette, tasteless and watery hash browns, and a generally yucky meal. OK, the pancakes were good, but how hard is that? And thank heavens for the Equator coffee. But what happened here? New owners perhaps, who are too cheap to buy fresh ingredients? A new chef who is lazy and doesn't care? You get not only beautifully plated, but GREAT tasting food and..Their coffees are to die for; I highly recommend the white chocolate mocha with peppermint. We were in Redding for a weekend and based on other Yelp reviews, we came here for brunch. There was about a 25 minute wait, which was fine because they have a coffee shop attached to the restaurant. We got a drink and sat in there and played checkers until the table was available. The customer service was great. Hostess and server were both very nice. However, the food was really lacking. I ordered a BLT Benedict (I modified their BAS Benedict) with has browns. Husband ordered corned beef hash with home fries and poached eggs. Kids got scrambled cheese eggs and mouse pancake. Other than the pancake, which was delicious, the food was all very tasteless and bland. I was eating my bennie and really thought that my tastebuds must be off, because there was absolutely no flavor. It was really strange. I kept adding salt and pepper, but still...nothing. I said something to my husband that I must be getting a cold, because there was just no taste to anything. He said that his was also pretty bland. The meat was cooked fine, but there were no spices or really any flavor. We both commented that even the salt and pepper had no taste. Scrambled eggs were the same, but my daughters' pancake was really good. It was a little crispy around the edges and cooked perfectly in the middle. The kids also got a bowl of fresh fruit that looked great. But there was a lot of melon and that overpowered the flavors of the other fruit. This was also a fairly expensive meal. For 2 adults and 2 kids (with only one milk), the meal was almost $60 with tip. That is way too much to pay for a bland meal. read more

Absolutely delicious selections - definitely try the corned beef hash and eggs for breakfast - real corned beef. Lunch - well, if you're alone you'll probably have some to take home - and if you're with someone else you may want to share as the portions are amazing. It has been sometime since I've experienced such friendly waitstaff who are truly customer-oriented. I've eaten here with friends a few times now. It's a little expensive for the quality of the food you get. I do enjoy their fancy coffee/tea drinks - I try a new one every time I'm in there. I haven't had a bad fancy drink yet. As for the food, it's been hit or miss. I do not like their biscuits and gravy - I really dislike their gravy's flavoring. They're known for their Eggs Benedict menu. I don't like Eggs Benedict, so that isn't a ringing endorsement for me. I am a pretty big fan of their BLT sandwich though, as their bacon is just the right thickness and greasiness. Their fries are okay. The service is acceptable, and the ambience is very small town friendly. It's a good place to meet up with friends or to hold a very casual meeting. read more

Deja Vu was a last minute choice, when we learned that another restaurant my family and I had planned to eat at, was closed on Sundays. I gave two stars for the friendly service, however we waited an hour to get our food. I realize it was a very busy Sunday, but an hour between ordering and receiving? When I received my eggs Benedict, the home fries were way overcooked and unseasoned. It was also so hot in there that I literally had beads of sweat on my face, I don't know if they had the heat cranked up to 11, or if it was because it was so crowded. It was also a bit loud in there, as I almost felt like I was in a nightclub having to shout to talk. As a Redding native, I had heard rave reviews of this place, but it wasn't worth the hype. went in for coffee. was not aknowledged although the person spoke over my head to the person behind me. very unfriendly. maybe it was my color. who knows anymore. this has been my experience almost every time I have gone into the coffee shop portion of the restaurant, the other times I went in there was NO ONE there to help anyone. they advertise specialty coffees. but only one brand of coffee was offered and the muffins, etc were worse looking then those offered at the convenience store. dont think I would have had one if offered for free. So I went over to the restaurant part. greeted by very friendly, welcoming staff.
