Paul is the best in class, hands down. He takes a great deal of time addressing the underlying issues that cause back pain. As with the other reviews, his deep tissue massage is however strong you want it. "Hurts so good" has never been more appropriate! Paul is the real deal. I've been around and have used so many physical therapists, masseuses, chiropractors, etc. over my lifetime and he's up there in the top 5%. Reasonable prices, and no bullshit fluff, rubbing, and cosmetics during the session. Gets down to business. What I found most impressive is that he showed me a very simple hamstring stretch that I had never seen before - which is very odd given how many different ways I've been show to stretch them out. I've been coming to Paul for almost two years now, with a total of four visits so far. Two years ago, I started a new desk job and got some severe neck pain around the holiday season that made it incredibly painful for me to move around. My friend recommended me to Paul, and we quickly got in touch to schedule an appointment. What I value the most about Paul is that he clearly communicates what he is doing or plans to do, and occasionally why he is working on certain parts of your body. Paul always starts our sessions by asking me if there are any areas in particular I want to work on. After getting situated in the massaging bed, we start with a couple of heat backs to loosen up my muscles. As the massage goes on, Paul will apply more pressure. I've never had any issues of getting too much pressure, but you should always communicate what suits you best. Paul is very receptive to feedback. My neck pain was gone soon after my third visit, although I won't attribute it to the massages alone. (I did some of my own physical therapy as well.) However, Paul's massages definitely provided me some much needed relief. And although I don't have anymore neck pain, I still visit Paul now and then just to get my deep tissue massage fix. Pro tip: If you work a desk job like I do, ask Paul to work on your hips. It hurts like crazy while he's doing it, but when you get off that bed, it feels like heaven. read more

I booked with Paul twice for a deep tissue massage to fix my lower and upper back areas. I will explain why I gave 3 stars. First Massage The first time I booked him, he was absolutely incredible - it was painful in a good way. Because I had some irritation in the upper back, he focused on not only that region but also my pits (because all areas of your body are connected); I felt better after that oh-so-good-but-painful-and-helpful-massage. Second Massage The second time I booked with him, was a couple months after this year. I went with him because he was responsive over email. I went in on a weekend morning in November 2018. He can be quite talkative during the massage which goes to show he is a good communicator. At that time, I did not feel like talking much but felt polite enough that I engaged some. I will point out that he did ask me whether I had scheduled a massage with him before which..puzzled me because I used the same email thread and used the same address to book the first appointment. Not a huge deal, but also not something I liked. If you want to be personable, do your research - again not a huge deal but it definitely set off a not-so-good tone. During the massage, he had used the heat over my back and it was so hot that my skin started to itch. He took it off after I said that, and he didn't ask to heat my leg up like he did during the first massage I had to make it consistent throughout the body. During my experience, I fell asleep. He ended it abruptly by mumbling that I was still drooling, the last thing I wanted to hear at the end of my massage. Also, every massage therapist will end your massage by pulling your legs at the end and saying, "Thank you, I hope you enjoyed it" He did none of that and said that I was still sound asleep, didn't say it was the end. I was so confused, I honestly left feeling like he just wanted to get on with his Sunday. If you don't want to work on weekend, don't schedule with a client. I would prefer that if anything, you can make rude/non-politically correct statements, anywhere BUT at the end of the massage. I had an unpleasant experience since he not only didn't remember me upon meeting, was talkative, but was also unclear on how you ended the massage. read more

Paul is AMAZING!!! I have been searching for a massage therapist that can do deep tissue like my brother does in Hawaii. Nobody and I mean NOBODY can make it hurt so good. I'm scared to waste another dollar on massages so I either go o Paul here in Washington or I go to my brother when I'm home in Hawaii. It might hurt a little when he is massaging me but it's like a miracle as the next day all the pain is gone. This last time I went, Paul was able to do a little extra to take care of my elbow that has been in pain for weeks. Too much tennis and too much bowling. I cannot tell you how many therapists I have gone through and it just feels like they are brushing their hands on my shoulders and back as if they are just applying sun tan lotion. Hands down, the best massage therapist EVER! I have been going to Paul for a massage twice a week for about a month and a half, and the pain in my back is almost gone! I can really feel the difference- I've even been told I sit and stand straighter ever since I have been getting my massages. Such an incredible experience, and hands down, one of the best massages that I've ever received. It hurt so much, but in a very good way! I workout about 5-6x/wk -- combining interval sprints/running, with strength training -- so my body is often tested to the max. Combine that with a job that can be very stressful at times, and you've got the makings of what I often refer to as a #hotmess. Paul was fantastic when it came to hitting the right knots, and helping with stretches to help release tension. He's also all about education and injury prevention, which is greatly appreciated. My first 60-minute session was exactly what I wanted! Paul was professional and courteous, and he really listened to my input and tailored his session to my needs. He focused on my left shoulder blade and worked down to my forearm, all of which have been sore and tense for months because of an injury. A little over two days later, I noticed that my shoulder popped much less frequently and felt much more flexible and stable. I've been bothered by a knot for 3 Years and only Paul could get it out! 3-year ago, I developed back pain from a back packing trip. I went to other massage therapists, physical therapy, and even had to get muscle relaxers because I couldn't sleep. None of these treatments worked. Finally, I gave Paul a try.
