My partner and I had booked a couples massage with Emma and Cindy for this afternoon. Jade Oasis called me this morning to inform me that one of the massage therapists was ill today. I had not checked my phone yet earlier today, so we arrived 10 minutes prior to our appointment time, as Jade Oasis had requested that we do. I was hoping to have a relaxing day mostly or fully offline, and mostly or fully not checking my phone today. It has been a very stressful month. After this experience, I wanted to write my review today, though. Emma was very apologetic and she explained that Jade Oasis had called me that morning to inform me that the therapist was ill. I explained to her that I had not checked my phone yet today. I understand that Emma cannot help it if a therapist is ill, but this felt stressful to me. I value my time very highly, and the point of getting a massage was to reduce stress and to help me to hopefully sleep better. So this actually added stress to my day instead of taking stress away from my day. I have received massage from over 75 massage therapists in the Seattle area, and I am probably very lucky but this has never happened to me before that a spa or massage therapy place has tried to reschedule my massage with me on the same day that my massage was scheduled for. So, at first I really didn't know what to do. Emma said that she could give me a single massage herself later today, but my partner and I had scheduled for the couples massage. When I review a massage here on yelp, I usually explain that I graduated from the Port Townsend School of Massage myself in 2016, however, I have never practiced massage professionally. Jade Oasis was clean and the massage room was nice, however, I noticed a small black ant on the toilet tank when I went to the bathroom. I noticed another small black ant on my leg after I left the massage room. My partner noticed a small black ant on his jacket when he was sitting in the waiting room. They might want to check into the ant problem, if they haven't already. There are definitely worse bugs to find on you after a massage. But this is the first time that I have ever had a bug crawling on me after a massage, too. If it was just one ant I probably wouldn't have mentioned it in my review, but I felt that 3 ants in 3 separate places was worth mentioning. It took me a bit of time to decide what to do when our couples massage was cancelled, and I ended up deciding to receive a single massage from Emma. My partner sat there in the waiting room for the entire time instead of receiving his massage. Emma is a very skilled massage therapist. I loved the pink himalayan salt hot stones, even though I run hot. It's been years since I have received hot stone massage, and I hadn't realized that would be offered or included. The single massage cost $110 for 60 minutes. I tipped $30 (which Emma fully deserved) so it was a cost of $140. I felt that the value was very good for Emma's skill level. I brought my own massage oil, Mandarin essential oil in jojoba & almond oils, and Emma kindly used that. I am highly allergic to coconut/palm oil, so I usually bring my own oil to a massage. Emma used Bergamot and Lemon essential oils for aromatherapy, too, after checking with me first. Emma is obviously very intelligent. She was a bit too chatty for my liking during my massage (she started up a few chats when I was quiet and relaxed) and she gave me way too many compliments, although that may have partly been because I was clearly stressed about having to reschedule my massage. I did like her compliment about my silvery gray hair being beautiful. I am starting to really embrace being middle aged, and I do love my natural hair color, even though I also love hats. I am a curious person and Emma was already being a bit chatty, so I asked her a bit about her massage therapy school background. Emma is a graduate of Bellevue Massage School. That school has a good reputation. Emma also shared with me that she was 3rd in her class despite English not being her first language. Even though I barely know her, I felt proud of her. Massage Therapy School is harder than you might think, even if English is your first language. Emma and I both agreed that Kinesiology is one of the most difficult classes in Massage Therapy School. My former regular massage therapist of 8 - 9 years was actually my Musculoskeletal Anatomy and Kinesiology Instructor in Massage Therapy School. I'm trying to find a new regular massage therapist now, but it's difficult to find a massage therapist who is in his league. However, Emma was definitely among the better massage therapists I've received massage from. I am ambivalent about this experience, but I know that my standards for massage therapy are pretty high, and I have a harder time with being rescheduled than the average person would. I wouldn't fully recommend Jade Oasis, but I wouldn't fully not recommend them either.

We reserved online, but they were running late, so we waited in the lobby for about 15-20 minutes past our appointment time. The masseuse apologized for the delay, and then we were shown into the room to change. There were several rooms, and the lighting was very dim, with just a few lamps to set the mood. There weren't clear instructions at first, which made things a bit confusing--especially since one of the two beds had an extra bedsheet on it while the other had none. (It turned out they just hadn't put the sheet on yet.) There was one female masseuse and one male masseuse, and they asked us about our preference. We would have preferred two female masseuses, but that wasn't an option, so my husband chose the male one. My masseuse was a short Asian lady who chatted with me and asked where I wanted her to focus. I told her I had shoulder pain. The massage was 90 minutes long, and I apparently fell asleep without realizing it because they said I was snoring--LOL! So embarrassing. Either way, my shoulders felt amazing afterward. They also provided a complimentary bottle of water. The price is lower than most other places, and the service was great. I'd definitely go back again when my shoulders are dead again!

I was debating whether to go home or find something to do, but my body was sore from the gym, so I searched for nearby massage places. This spot came up as the closest one--and it was also very close to the restaurant--so I decided to walk in. I was helped right away by two very kind ladies and taken into a room almost immediately. I honestly didn't want the massage to end. The therapist really focused on the muscles that were sore from my workout. I was 100% sure I'd be in pain the next day from how deep she worked, but surprisingly, I left feeling relaxed, had a great night's sleep after dinner, and woke up the next morning feeling even better. No soreness at all. They use unscented oil, which is a big plus if you have asthma or allergies. The only downside was that the linens had a slight "stored" smell--like clean laundry that's been sitting in a closet for a while. It wasn't a bad odor, just noticeable. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'll definitely be coming back--probably once a week after one of my gym days to reset

We decided to give Sunny Massage a try, and overall, it was a great experience. The place is located in a tiny house-style building with a small parking lot right out front. It's definitely not a luxury spa setting, so if you're looking for that upscale ambiance, this isn't it. But if you're after good value and effective massage work, it delivers. Since it's located right off 8th Street, we could hear some traffic and people talking outside, but it wasn't too distracting. The massage itself was just what we needed with firm pressure, great technique, and they even incorporated hot stones, which was a nice touch. They really focused on working out the knots, and we both left feeling refreshed. This feels like the kind of place we'd happily return to for regular body maintenance. Great value, effective massages, and exactly what we were looking for.

I was finally having a very free day and made a last minute decision to try a massage here-- -- and I'm so glad I did! My shoulders/upper body has been abnormally tight for a while, enough to cause my wrist/arm some issues, so I've been trying different places, but Sunny Massage is the first one that loosened and worked deep without causing me pain. I think a lot of places that I went to considered pain part of the process, but I know that I tense up more with it. Here, I asked my therapist (Coco?) for "medium" pressure, and it was relaxing enough for me to go to sleep. The result at the end, my neck and shoulders haven't felt so loose in SUCH a long time. (TBD: what I'm doing that's causing it to be so terrible in the first place. Maybe lack of regular care.) This place is a little pricier than the others I've gone to, but I think it's still considered a cheaper location. I also opted for the additional $10 for hot stone and scents and it was pretty nice, though I don't know that it was necessary. (The hot stones felt surprisingly nice though; I've had hot stones before that mostly just tensed me up because of the heat, but this one I could feel the blood coming back from the warmth instead.) You can get a slight discount if you use cash (or maybe Zelle? I didn't ask). I've gotta come back, I miss it already.
