I wanted to get my printer repaired and I called up Deens Electronics. They weren't very responsive and just told me that they would charge me $95 for diagnostics and that could go towards the cost of the repair. They did not even let me describe the problem I had. I just wanted to know if the problem I had was repairable at all or worth fixing given that the cost of repairing could be more or less the same amount of a new printer. Anyways I still drove down there and took the printer. The refused to take a cursory glance and finally just asked for the model number and told me that the full cost would be around $285. They could've given me the same information over the phone and saved me a trip. They kept on saying they are very "professional" which they might be but they are not at all accommodating or courteous. I would never go back there and be treated like that. read more

I paid Deens $120 to diagnose the poor print quality of my Epson. A few days later I was told that all I need is a new print head, for $154.00. I was told my machine is a $600.00 unit, so I OK'd the repair. I tried it out and noticed the white paper background was grey. I was told "that's normal", A few days of very low use, the problems (streaking) returned. I also learned the background grey is not normal, and probably needs a new Platen Camera. When I called Deens and mentioned that I was unhappy, I was told that they would fix it at no charge to me. When I finally had a chance to return the machine, I was told that parts aren't available and they couldn't do anything for me. Huh? So, now I'm $254.00 out of pocket and have to buy a new 3 in 1 Copier. Deens offered me a used machine, as a settlement. I told them that I don't want a copier that may break again. The young man in the shop, graciously offer to refund my $120. diagnostic fee. I couldn't take his money, but did keep $20.00 for gas money, and they are 1.5 hour round trip for me. I really hate taking time from work for zero return. Deens is probably OK for general repairs, but they sure missed the mark on my Epson read more

I called Epson with a technical issue regarding my table Workforce WF 100 printer serviced. After speaking with 2 of Epson's technical support people, without addressing my issue, I was referred to Deens by Epson, with a recommendation to have my printer serviced. A couple of days ago had an "unclear-able" printhead clog in one of my Epson printers. Moved into the Fremont area only a few months ago from Southern California and didn't have a local printer repair contact. Hussain was able to get the printer working again and had it back to me in a couple of days, charging me only the original diagnostic fee. Those are the basics and they don't begin to cover the details of my experience with Deens. I had a good experience with Deens Electronics. I should start by saying that it was next to impossible to find anyone that could either repair or even willing to repair old printers. I guess parts are hard to come by and there is no desire for such a small profit margin. Besides, new printers are cheap, but the cost of ink is through the roof. I had an old HP all-in-one printer (at least 18 years old) and they were able to repair it for $50. They were unable to find the part, however I was able to search the internet and find the required part, so I supplied the part and they supplied the labor. Why would anyone repair an old printer? ...because it uses half the ink the new ones do and it still works great. It will also work when the color ink cartridge runs out of ink, unlike the new printers. 4-Stars because I had to supply the part. I guess they don't want to waste the time looking for the part. read more

I was in the middle of a project and suddenly the print quality on my high-end Epson printer went down to pretty much zero. I had a deadline to meet, and I was in a bit of a panic. After trying all of the maintenance and troubleshooting possibilities that I could do myself, I went looking for an authorized repair service, and I found Deens Electronics. I gave them a call, and was able to bring the printer in yesterday afternoon. This morning Hussein from Deens called to tell me it was up and running perfectly. I've got a monster workgroup printer at home that I bought as an employee of the manufacturer back in 2003 so it's getting a bit on in years...but still a fantastic quality printer. But, it started jamming on a regular (but intermittent) basis - frustrating. It is an off brand so not too many techs service it. Adding insult to injury, most printer places don't want to help consumers - they want business contracts to provide services for massive quantities of equipment over multi year terms... The intermittent paper jams made it basically unusable. I looked at a lot of Yelp reviews and called a few but found that they either weren't interested in a one printer problem or charged more than the printer was worth. Deens was a bit far for me (30 miles or so) but I liked their reasonable flat-fee labor approach and they seemed to be the most consumer friendly by far. I called them up and talked to Hussein. Hussein was awesome! He said that they didn't repair my brand and probably couldn't get parts for it but he offered to walk me through some things to try on the phone (seriously!). I'd been working on this dang thing for about 2 months (google searches, etc.) and I knew this printer inside and out by this time but he still came up with a few new things to try and offered up the most likely issues that he would have expected were causing the problem. I greatly appreciated his efforts to help over the phone but unfortunately none of them worked. I asked if I could bring it by even though they didn't support my brand - he said, "Sure, bring it in!" To make a long story a little bit shorter, both Hussein and Gary took a look at it while I was in there and after observing it print they identified the issue within a few minutes. No parts were even needed, it was a functional part that was sticking in the wrong position on occasion and just needed a thorough cleaning. I hadn't been able to figure out the problem because the cause of the jam was very far from where the paper was actually jamming in the printer - I was looking (and replacing parts) in the wrong end of the paper path. And, of course, I didn't have their expertise of seeing probably thousands of these things over the years. Don't hesitate to call Deens if you have a printer issue. My only regret in this whole situation is not calling them sooner. read more

Those guys went beyond giving me good service. That was more than a year ago and thanks to them my epson 3800 photo printer has a new life. After I ran away from a printer maintenance place in Richmond (Allrepair.com), I drove all the way to Fremont to Deens on a hunch. In fact, I went from a place that wanted me to upgrade printer or pay $380 to Deens that charged me $40 less and threw in a free lid because they had it handy. They charged me a $99.90 bench fee and failed to repair my Epson 8350 projector. I'm going to see if Epson factory service can do better, and I'll report back. If they actually _have_ factory service... Sure, diagnosing problems takes time, and time is money. But at least they could have included a nice diagnostic report from their software, explained what went wrong, etc. All they said was "it needs a new optical engine -- it's cheaper to buy new projector". I mean, how do I know they even opened it up? They could have just told me it's not repairable and taken my money. I doubt they did, but there's no evidence to the contrary. When I asked for a diagnostic report, they said the technician had already gone home. Edit: Epson doesn't have factory service -- they rely entirely on mom-and-pop service centers like Deen's. I just bought a new projector, and guess what -- it's not an Epson ! read more

This place is legitimate. We received a new Epson POS printer that showed an error light. The web application support team cannot help me and referred me to contact a Epson's authorized repair center. The gentlemen replaced the circuit board. Don't ask me why a new printer has a bad circuit board. The saying "trust but verify" applies. The gentleman patiently worked with me when I verified the functionality of the printer. I was having a problem with my ink jet printer. It is an Epson eco-tank printer, and it had been running well for two or three years, but then it seemed like the heads got clogged. I looked up some repair remedies on the Internet involving ammonia and some paper towels, and I tried that, but with no success. Then, I found Deen's Electronics through Yelp, and I gave them a call. They said I could bring my printer out there (to Fremont) and they had some remedies for dealing with clogged printheads. So I paid my $60 on a Thursday morning, and by Friday morning I got a call saying that my printer was up and running and that I didn't owe them any more money. I immediately drove over there to pick it up, and I am very happy with the result. The technician also gave me some good tips for avoiding clogged heads in the future. The service was very good, very professional, and I recommend them highly. read more
