I wanted to try someplace new relatively close to where I work (Wellesley), so, based on the reviews, I gave this place a shot. I am sorry to say I was very disappointed. First of all, the lunch menu was ridiculously limited - sandwiches and a couple of salads. That's it. No apps, no soups, nothing. To start with, they had no brewed iced tea - and in fact, had no iced tea at all - no cans, bottles, nothing. Isn't iced tea like a lunch/diner staple? So, I had to settle for a can of Diet Coke. I am not a fan of carbonated beverages, so I asked for a glass of ice and the waiter brings me a small plastic juice glass with about - I kid you not - 4-5 small ice cubes in it. And no free refills, so you get to enjoy your one gassy Diet Coke with no ice and be on your way. I could already see this meal was on a slippery slope, so I didn't even say anything. I asked the waiter what was good and a healthy portion and he had no suggestion for me. Seriously, he said, "I am kind of new here and I don't really know." So, I ordered a cheese steak bomb, to which he replied (again, I swear I am not kidding - you can't make this stuff up!), "Do you want cheese on that?" Um, on a cheesesteak? Yeah, I probably would like cheese. And steak, too. The sandwich comes and it was nowhere near a "bomb". It had about as much meat as McDonald's happy meal burger and it was on a bulkie roll and maybe 3-4 pieces of mushroom and 3-4 pieces of onion! Steak bombs should be on a sub roll and loaded with all the fixins and falling apart from the weight (think Carl's Cheesesteaks of Waltham!). I did get cheese, though, - I think - so it wasn't a total strikeout. But, this sandwich just plain sucked. There is no other way to put it. I had to stop to get more to eat on my way back to the office. I cannot rate "No Stars" here, or I would have. If you're hungry for lunch, want any kind of variety and choices at all, like to have a cold drink with your meal and enjoy good service, please avoid this place. read more

This a little gem, a divvy little mom and pop place. You can park across the street in the shopping Plaza if you have a big vehicle like me. Food was very good, nice quality sausage, very friendly people, super fast service at a good price. Will definitely be back read more

My girlfriend and I are fairly regular weekend diners here. This place is small, cash only, and very basic on the inside with minimal signage on the outside. Here's why we like this place: they make simple, tasty, well priced breakfast food. The staff is extremely attentive and very friendly. DD gives the vibe of a local blue collar breakfast joint, which is pretty much what it is. They usually have some decent specials from time to time if that is your thing- my girlfriend usually tries the seasonal pancakes/waffles. read more

I had a wonderful breakfast here. The pancakes are definitely the must have special here. The syrup was even good as was the coffee ( it is hard to find good diner coffee, but this was actually good). Had a business meeting here and it was comfortable, the noise level was somewhat low and plenty of space to spread out at the table. Service was pleasant and quick. The restaurant seemed clean. I will be going here again soon and will consider it again when meeting a client. read more

This is my favorite place to go for breakfast in Dedham. There is a different special every day. Lunch is good, too. The prices are excellent, the staff is warm and friendly, and there is a true camaraderie among the customers. I was looking for a good breakfast place and my fiance loves dedham diner, but we don't know the menu. So we looked online to find one, but there wasn't one available. So I called the restaurant and spoke with Shauna. I could tell the place was busy with all the noise in the back ground, but she was extremely patient and was super helpful. I basically told her what I wanted and she knew exactly what meal I should get. It's really nice to talk to an employee that actually knows their whole menu. This is a great liitle breakfast nook. -Place: its quaint but SMALL (6-10 tables + counter seats) which can be a problem because its very busy sat/sunday mornings. -Food :your average breakfast food that you know and love. If you are expecting gourmet this is not the place to go -but who gets gourmet food for breakfast? Bottom line-french toast, eggs and potatoes are yummy and you can't go wrong w/ anything on the menu. -Service: very homey place. It was our first time there and the server talked to us as if we have known her for years. You feel right at home here. -Price: I don't know about you but more than $10 is a little pricey when it comes to breakfast so that's the only downfall , I'd say. Overall, the service is fantastic, the food is good you might just have to wait to get a seat. read more

SO hard to find a good diner in Mass that is tasty AND cheap. the DD is definitely both of those, one of the most reasonably priced options in the area and the food is great. Specials are usually something amazing, I have had breakfast and lunch here numerous times and it is one of my favorite places to eat. read more

I've been trying to find someone who has eaten at the D.D. to no avail. I decided to check the place out myself this weekend and was very happy with the results. It is relatively small, but the food is excellent! I ordered the blueberry pancakes (short stack of 2 - but they filled the dinner sized plate!) which were delicious with big blueberry taste & a ton of blueberries - no scrimping here! The breakfast sausage - 2 larger sized sausage, were likewise of superior quality. I returned on Sunday for the breakfast special: French toast, bacon or sausage or ham, eggs any style and home fries. I chose the bacon which was good but skipped the eggs (but was given extra home fries as a substitute). The French toast was good, and the home fries were excellent - well cooked and seasoned. The coffee was your average diner brew (except for 50's Diner which is exceptionally good! The prices were very good considering the quality of the food. The service was very good with one caveat: Ask for your bill when you receive your meal. If it gets busy, you won't have to wait after you finish. Jim M read more

This is one of my favorite places too eat. Not only the food, but the old fashion atmosphere, and the people who work there, make it the ideal breakfast spot. The only way to describe it is like you are eating at a friends house, with home style cooking, with friendly banter all around you. If I had suggestions, I'd say the omelette with bacon, tomato, spinach, scallion, and gouda cheese, or the ground sirloin, spinach, pepper, onion, with cheddar cheese, and salsa on top. Their eggs Benedict is also the best I've ever had, and so is the coffee. read more

Dedham Diner, best breakfast in the area. The ingredients are so fresh, spinach onion and feta omelet was amazing. The pancakes can be made with your choice of produces,but, the most wonderful oatmeal, raisin and walnut pancakes are superb. For me one pancake is filling and delicious. DO NOT go here if you are a party of one. They need a huge sign that says "We do not serve parties of one!" They do not permit fewer than two people to sit in a booth. So as a party of one you stand and wait and wait and wait for one of two tiny tables in the back (where parties of TWO (gasp) are currently seated; while 6 groups of people arriving after you are seated and are already eating. What a totally frustrating experience! They obviously aren't smart enough to understand that parties of one today will often return as parties of two, four, six ..... They also don't get that there are better solutions than the current practice. But they are tiny, provincial and set in their ways. The food is diner food. Go someplace that will provide equal, quality service to all comers and has equally good food. You really are treated as a second class citizen if you have the audacity to show up as a party of one! read more
