This place is absolutely amazing! First off, the service here is spectacular. I arrived a little early for my reservation so I was asked to view the store as the staff finished up their prep work. I was asked a couple of times by staff members if I needed any help. The wine selection here is nice, but very expensive. Be prepared to pay $30 or much more for a bottle. I'm not a wine expert so I'm not sure if their prices are fair or not in the retail section but expect to pay quite a bit for a bottle. The quality may warrant these prices, but I have no idea. I was also impressed with the selection of food items. I bought a can of Smoked Sardines and Crackers and had them when I got home. They were excellent. There is also a nice cheese selection. I was just as impressed with the service in the restaurant. I sat in the patio section and thought it was spectacular. The Rose and White wines I had were fantastic and the service was spot on. The Cucumber Salad was delicious and huge. It had to be at least a full cucumber, if not more. The dill and onions were a nice addition as well. The Oysters are cooked and were pretty good. I always prefer raw Oysters but these were good. The Cucumber Salad and Oysters came out very fast. I decided to finish off with the Smoked Sardine Pate. I was surprised it came in a can as I thought it would be homemade. It was good with the toast. I do feel they could give you more toast to place the Pate and Grainy Mustard on but that's my only gripe. I officially declare this place as my new spot in Burlington. I plan on coming here several days a week for the great service, wine, and food. Also, the prices are very good. I would usually pay well over $100 for what I got when I lived in DC and I spent under $70 and felt I received a lot of value at this price point.

Great and attentive service. Staff was very knowledgeble about the wine and the different cheeses. We started with cheese plate and it was SO good! We then had the vegetarian pasta with burrata. Pasta was very as very good, there was just a lot of olive oil so do wish there was less. Overall, we did have a great time & would go back if we are back in the area!

I found this place on Yelp as it is my go to for restaurant recommendations when I am in a new town. We had a reservation for our group and were excited to try the tapas style menu and wine. So why the 1 star review. It comes down to service. When we first sat down and were trying to figure out which bottles to order we asked to taste a few that were in the wine by the glass list to narrow our selection. The waitress was accommodating for the first 2 we tasted(ended up getting a bottle of one of them) but when we asked to taste a third she said "we are not in the business of giving free samples". We ended up ordering a bottle of the third wine we tasted but were upset by her treatment of us. We are not sure if it was the color of our skin or the waitress was just having a bad day. We proceeded to order many dishes and more wine. The cheese board was good but overpriced for what you got. Also the waitress did not explain what cheeses were where on the board so we had to ask another server for help. Overall the food was good but very small portions. and expensive for what you got. We were planning to address our displeasure with the service by giving her a 15% tip instead of our group's standard of 20-25% and leave a review reflecting just the experience with the food and leave the service out of it. However when our bill came it had a 20% gratuity added automatically. We asked to speak to the manger and explained the situation. He at first was "shocked" but came back and said he could make any adjustments to the bill. We were asking to drop the tip to 15% which we felt was reasonable. There were no apologies for the behavior. It is clear that this restaurant group does not care about the customer experience which is such a large part of the dining experience.

Visited Dedalus Wine Shop, Market, and Wine Bar on Saturday evening. My biggest regret was not choosing this place for a full meal, the food is excellent and the wine selection is tremendous. Quality: Not originally part of our plans, I am so glad we checked out Dedalus. It is worth coming to for dinner, but even just for some snacks and wine it was lovely. The bottle list is full of gems, but they also have a substantial glass list. The food we had was incredible, and it was hard not to get more. The Beef Tartare is fantastic, and the Market Board showcases all sorts of wonderful items. Quantity: Generous pours and assorted size dishes. Value: $9-$15 for a Glass of Wine. $15 for the Beef Tartare. $39 for the Market Board. Ambiance: Dedalus Wine Shop, Market, and Wine Bar is located in Burlington. It is all the things they list in their name, but the wine bar is the highlight. We sat at the dimly lit bar in a romantic space surrounded by wine bottles. They have some shared tables, but most are set up for couples. The music was jazz and classical, completing the atmosphere. Crowd: About half full early on Saturday evening. Service: Wonderful, I wasn't sure what to expect, but they have both a shop and a full-service restaurant. Parking: Private parking lot.

One of the best date night spots in Burlington. The food is delicious and so is the wine. It's pricey but mostly worth it. My one complaint is that they once took our wine with a glass still left. It was a 60 dollar bottle and we had intended to drink every drop.

Such a wonderful Sunday night with my friends this past September. Wonderful options for small plates to share & a fun selection of wines! We loved the half priced oysters & cheese board. The BUTTER offering- just wow. Our waitress helped us pick the best wines for our individual tastes & made the evening so lovely! I loved the chance to shop around the retail store after our early dinner and talk to the sommelier. I wish I lived close by so I could visit more often! Such a fantastic experience, give them a visit!!

I had heard about this place and my interest was peaked. Last night's wine and dinner experience exceeded my expectations! Where do I begin? The wonderful rustic edgy decor was the perfect foil for the display of unique wines and global provisions such as I haven't seen in Vermont or the USA. Variations of sardines , octopus and calamari to name a few. Then there was the selection of vinaigres and mustards and honeys ! All this before arriving at the cheese & charcuterie counters. The knowledgeable and pleasant staff willingly engaged in conversation and suggestions, offering samples alongside. We were seated with a splendid view of the dining room, outdoor terrace and the seafood bar where later we would watch as they shucked our oysters . Jason Zuliani , owner of DEDALUS and our friend and fellow diner Chef Tom Bivins were old friends from NECI days. Jason graciously came over to greet us and before long we were engaged in a riveting wine conversation, to say he is a Wine Aficionado is no exaggeration. But the highlight of the evening was our mutual love of Jura Wines which, as it happened, he was drinking and now offered to share with me! Talk about Kismet - Jura wines are extremely difficult to find Stateside but at DEDALUS there is a small but exceptional selection. I'm completely speechless. We ordered a variety of dishes, each one exceptional with a very clean palette.: anchovies and capers with olive oil, The Market Board was over the top!, followed by a plate of salt bed oysters-delicate and oh so fresh. The fresh Scarpinocc pasta was sublime as was the tomato tartine . Dessert did not disappoint - feeling emboldened I chose the basil ice cream with corn infused whipped cream while others chose the sourdough ice cream and the chocolate cake. Great Food, Great Wine , lovely atmosphere and wonderful friends made for a MARVELOUS Evening. I will come again and again and honestly so should you . BRAVO Jason at DEDALUS!

A great concept, ambiance and wine collection. Really like the outdoor seatings. The indoor is nice too. The staff are very nice and warm. They are also knowledgeable about wine and cheese!

This marked our fifth year visiting the fabulous Vermont Cheese Festival. This year it returned to…read moreShelburne Farms south of Burlington for the first time since 2019; the most recent festival was held in Greensboro in 2023, and there was no festival in 2024. So it was a big welcome back in 2025, and the event -- held inside the newly reconstructed, enormous breeding barn at Shelburne (please see the photos) -- was quite a big deal. There were perhaps 50 or so vendors, and the general public was limited to just 1,000 tickets, which made it, unexpectedly, something of an elite event. (Tickets were sold out months in advance.) The festival offers a wonderful opportunity to meet the these dedicated craft cheesemakers and, best of all, sample their work. And wow, did we ever sample their work!!! We won't go detailing each of those cheeses, but please know there were many and not a one disappointed us. Other vendors offered everything from ciders to jams, sauces, charcuterie and -- believe it or not -- peanut butter. At a cheese festival? The atmosphere is inviting and rewarding for the makers and the public, and assembling such a large and skilled group of crafters in one place makes for an extraordinary moment. We congratulate the executive director of the cheese council, Hale, who did a splendid job. A couple of small issues for us: while there were a few chairs outside the barn there was almost no seating at all inside, and there was space which could have been worked fine, we think. And after a hour of walking around, a sitting break could have felt good. Also, there were food trucks selling ice cream, Indian food, cookies from King Arthurs, but they were placed placed pretty far from the barn, requiring a bit of walking. We also enjoyed the band playing outside, but they too were a bit moved from everything else. And then, it was hot -- near 90, but that's just the way it was. And for attendees, it was clearly not the temps defined this dazzling event. We're ready for 2026!

My wife and I recently had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Vermont Cheesemakers Festival as…read morevolunteers a couple of weekends ago. We had signed up to help and it turned out to be so much more than just service. Right off the bat, the food was extraordinary, what a spectacular showcase of Vermont's artisanal cheese scene! Samples ranged from classic cheddars to Gouda to pepper jack, all crafted by passionate local cheesemakers. We also discovered delightful pairings, cheese and jam was a Hit; I wasn't expecting it, but "jam is my jam," as one participant aptly put it. lol As for service, the volunteer coordination was seamless. Helping vendors set up before the crowds arrived gave us a chance to chat with cheesemakers, learn about each cheese's story, and feel truly connected to their craft. The staff were friendly, organized, and the energy was warm and welcoming. The ambiance was downright charming. Set at historic Shelburne Farms' Breeding Barn, the festival unfolded on a perfect summer day - sunny, scenic, and relaxed. It felt like celebrating cheese right in the heart of verdant Vermont, complete with the buzz of fellow cheese lovers, artisan vendors, and farm surroundings. A bit of history: This year marked the 13th Annual Vermont Cheesemakers Festival, hosted by the Vermont Cheese Council at Shelburne Farms. The festival is rooted in Vermont's rich artisanal cheese tradition, highlighting how the state leads the nation in cheesemakers per capita. It originally began as a celebration of the state's cheesemaking success a sort of "cheese carnival" introducing the public to local producers and their craft. Notably, this year's event was completely sold out tickets were snapped up well in advance, and none were available at the door. Even the general admission waitlist was full, and volunteer slots had closed early too. This level of demand speaks volumes about how beloved and highly anticipated, the festival has become. Volunteering at the Vermont Cheesemakers Festival was a fantastic decision. The combination of exceptional cheese, purposeful and friendly service, and a picturesque setting made for a memorable afternoon. It's clear why this sold-out event has become a beloved summer tradition. We'll definitely be back, with or without volunteer duties to savor more of what Vermont's incredible cheesemakers have to offer!

I was surprised to see that the ingredients included a great deal more than chocolate and hazelnut praline. Actually, I was disappointed because we all know it's difficult to get exquisite chocolate here in the United States, I thought Lake Champlain chocolates were a cut above. I looked at the ingredients after I took a bite of the chocolate with hazelnut praline filling because it did not taste right; it tasted like it had other stuff in it besides high quality chocolate and hazelnut praline filling. I looked at the label and sure enough it has a LOT of other stuff in it that should not be in it. I took a photograph of the front and back of the labels but I don't know if I'll be able to upload it. Before you buy, if you are a purist like me, I recommend you read the labels. At least I can tell you that the ingredients included wheat, soy beans, peanuts, and other things that really shouldn't have been included. I am soooooooooo disappointed. Unfortunately, I shall not be buying any Lake Champlain chocolates anymore because I want to buy the real thing. I don't want to buy American corporate reductionist products that just don't measure up. I am actually very sad ...
