This is the story of how two of Santa's most special helpers, Jason and Moxie, saved Christmas: Hanging Christmas lights had long been the bane of my husband's existence. Every year he would spend a whole day putting them up, only for me to inevitably ask him to change one thing or another (I mean, it was fine, but I like what I like). Eventually he decided he'd had enough of hanging lights (not of me), and so I turned to Yelp to see what I could find. Enter Deck the House and Jason and Moxie. They're reasonably priced, licensed and insured, and they really know lights. Their years of experience, creative vision, and innate attention to detail equip them with a level of expertise rarely found elsewhere (we also love that they use their own lights - no more storing and fighting tangled strands for us!). Not only are Jason and Moxie two of Santa's hardest working (and most professional) helpers, but they are also genuinely good humans who deeply care about their clients. This year they surprised us with a little something extra to brighten our holidays after a very medically challenging time in our daughter's life (and ours). What might seem like a small kindness to others was immeasurable to us and spoke to the core of who they are. Jason and Moxie are loving and lovely people (also, "Moxie" is a kick-ass name). I had a frustrating experience with this business back in November of last year but had decided not to write a review UNTIL NOW bc I just saw how awful they treated another customer online. A professional response to a client's complaint should be to call and make things right but this business thought it was a good idea to call a client a "Karen" and berate her on Yelp. So in support of your customer you just insulted. I will tell others about my experience with you too. I was calling you on behalf of our HOA. You asked me to email you the description of the lights we wanted. I did and No response. I called you 3 days later then you said you will have a quote sent over in 30 minutes. No quote sent . 2 days later I call back and you never answered my phone calls or return my calls. Why so shady? Just say NO. Were you afraid to hurt my feelings? I'm assuming it was bc I was calling for HOA and you may not have been insured or licensed? In any case, please learn to communicate with your clients. I didn't know if I could get someone to wrap my Palm trees with ribbons (9 total).or a party we were having. Much to my surprise there were a few companies that came out and gave me prices. DTH was one of those companies and I must tell you that all 3 bids were very competitive in price..But here's the shocker, what set them apart from the other companies is that when their worker Jason was done with our trees, they lit up. Don't use these guys! Jason literally RIPPED my lights down at 1am last year. Parts of the string of lights were left on my roof (pictures). I found broken plastic clips and shards of hundreds broken glass bulbs LITERALLY 20ft from my house.... all over my grass, flowerbeds and driveway after Jason literally RIPPED my string of icicle lights down from my second story!!! Jason did an excellent job placing permanent lighting throughout our 1 acre property in Yorba Linda. He lit up several structures. Including a Gazebo, Pavilion, Bridge, trees, playground and barns. It started with is just wanting our trees lit and we kept on adding to the job. It was a long ongoing project as the job kept on growing, because we saw how wonderful the first phase turned out. We kept on adding phases until we were finally satisfied that our grandchildren will have a Disneyland look in our backyard. Jason stayed with us as the job kept on growing and without making compromises along the way, maintained his exceptional quality and workmanship. This is an amazing family run company. I called them shortly before Thanksgiving--which is late to plan Christmas lights! They called back immediately and came to measure, as scheduled, the very next day. I was hoping for a special holiday gift for my elderly mother who always talked about loving Christmas lights, and I couldn't do it myself. I can say firsthand that the owners are warm, caring, and generous people. They didn't have availability immediately due to being booked, but they were so dedicated to getting this surprise up for my mom that they worked late at night, several nights, after working long days, just to get our house done quickly! They have great design talent and multiple lighting options. They have been extremely reliable, easy to reach, very hard workers and do amazing, beautiful lighting!!
