A couple of months back, maybe six months or so I bought a used 2012 suburban. About two months…read moreinto having my car it started having some mechanical issues and I took it back to the dealer and they referred me to a local mechanic shop (Hometown Tire). Turns out my warranty company that I bought with the car wasn't so great and didn't pay for a lot of the repair. Fast forward to a few weeks ago about (6 months) my car started making the very same sound as before and went through the process of breaking down much quicker to the point where my engine completely stopped and would no longer work. When we took it to a dealership they said that we need a new engine and the warranty company wouldn't pay for it because they had already sent the supposed parts to be fixed the first time around. (Which was not true) I decided to call Hometown tire and speak with the owner, Brad and let him know my situation and get some clarity on what exactly it was they did to fix my car. From the moment I spoke with him I think he could tell that I was drained and upset about my vehicle and before the conversation was over he made me understand clearly that he was on my side and he wanted to do as much as he could to help me get out of the situation that I was in. not only did he hear my story he is working with the dealer who sold me the vehicle and they decided to step up and the dealer bought me an engine for my vehicle, had it shipped out here. So then Brad (hometown tire)also stepped up and is and they're replacing the engine for me free of charge. FOLKS HE IS LITERALLY TAKING MY ENGINE OUT AND PUTTING ANOTHER ONE IN FREE OF CHARGE!!!!! Brad reminded me that he's about helping people and that it was the christian thing to do. I was speechless. Never in my life have I experienced such a thing. So if you live in Walton County or your just passing through and you need your car looked at, you can trust Hometown Tire to take care of you and your vehicle. **Extremely Disappointed and, Quite Honestly, Terrified**…read more I originally purchased my tires from Bulldog Tire Shop in April 2026. I returned in late May for my complimentary oil change and tire rotation. Everything seemed fine when I left, but shortly afterward, I began hearing a noise coming from around my tires. I was also informed that one of the lug nuts/bolts had been stripped and that Bulldog would order a replacement. What makes this even more frustrating is that **I was not informed about the stripped lug nut/bolt before leaving Bulldog.** I only became aware of the issue after noticing the noise and questioning it. I drove it again before I left, and the noise went away... temporarily! While I was on I-75, the noise came back and this time it was much worse. It became increasingly concerning and honestly scared everyone in my vehicle. I was so worried about what was happening that I had to get off the interstate and find the nearest tire shop. **Thank God for Mavis Tires.** When I arrived at Mavis, they inspected my vehicle and discovered that **ALL of the lug nuts/bolts on the driver's side were completely loose.** I mean ALL of them. They were so loose that I could remove them myself **without any tools.** At that moment, it hit me just how close I could have been to losing my life and potentially the lives of my passengers or someone else on the highway. This was not a minor inconvenience. **This was a serious safety issue that could have had a catastrophic outcome.** When I returned to Bulldog to pick up the replacement, the manager's response was simply, **"I'm sorry."** That was essentially it. After something this serious something that could have resulted in me or someone else losing their life I expected much more than an apology. I expected accountability, an explanation of how this happened, and some reassurance that steps would be taken to make sure it never happens to another customer. I now have a brand-new set of tires with a warranty, yet I **do not feel comfortable allowing anyone at this location to touch my tires or my vehicle again.** That is extremely disappointing because I should be able to trust the shop that installed my tires to ensure they are properly secured and that my vehicle is safe before sending me back onto the road. I don't know if this was a training issue, a lack of proper inspection, improper installation, or something else, but **something needs to change.** A mistake involving improperly secured wheels isn't something that should be taken lightly. I am grateful that I heard the noise, trusted my instincts, and found another tire shop before something happened on the interstate. **I could have lost my life. Literally.** Unfortunately, based on my experience, **I cannot recommend Bulldog Tire Shop to anyone.** If you have had work done here, I strongly encourage you to have your lug nuts and wheels checked by another qualified professional. **Buyers beware. Your safety is too important to leave to chance.**

So I'm going to list this in pros and cons and explain as I go…read more Pros: + Awesome waiting area - I've been in a lot of auto shops before, and waiting areas are important, but often not paid much attention to when it comes to auto repair shops. I mean, I have been in shops where the waiting room was literally a couch on the side of the garage. This is a tragedy because auto repair usually takes quite some time, especially if they have to order parts for your vehicle. This place, though, has a beautiful waiting area. A water cooler, several nice chairs, a children's play area, a large screen TV, several magazines on topics other than cars, including TIME magazine. There was also a nice bathroom for anyone waiting a while like I was. And on another note, in the bathroom I saw a drawer labeled "feminine products." In an auto shop? It blew my mind. + Good service - I called 3 different auto shops when I was looking to get my brakes done. This one was the only one that actually picked up the phone. They had a regularly manned front desk. The main person who handled the back and forth between the mechanics and me seemed to be knowledgeable about the mechanic side, but also able to deal with customers with ease, which is rare. The rain also started to pick up as I left, so he let me leave out the back instead of having me walk in the rain to my car. + Clean auto shop all around - Not only was the waiting area clean, but the auto shop itself was as well. + Fair pricing and knowledgeable mechanics - All labor and parts are broken down on your bill, and if there is extra work that needs to be done, they will discuss it with you first. It was also nice that they managed to get a picture to show me of the part that needed to be replaced, so I knew they weren't just making stuff up. Cons: + Limited parking at the office - There are only three parking spaces before the mechanic's yard. Two were used when I got there. If anyone had arrived after me, I don't think they would've had anywhere to really park unless they went directly into the yard. In general, this auto shop was very good. For most, the experience would've rated fantastic, however, I'm particularly picky when it comes to auto repair shops. Before I moved to Atlanta, I had a regular mechanic in Oklahoma who was better than any other I've ever had. He was the kind that walked you out to the garage to show you all the problems in person that he found with your car. He also did the job in half the time in comparison to most repair shops. Had he repaired my car on this occasion as well, if I know him, he would've told me the extent of the repair within the first 15 minutes that he was working on the car, and likely had the repair done within two hours. In comparison, it took over an hour and a half for this shop to even ask for my consent for the bulk of the repairs and another 2 and half hours to complete. By industry standards, this shop is still very good, and would be rated probably as one of the best in the area. However, its still not on the same level as the auto shop I had in the past. Therefore, it still left me feeling less than completely satisfied.
