After a Rover appointment canceled our Thanksgiving arrangements, we contacted Ruff Ranch in desperation. Ruff Ranch is located off the 154 just before Los Olivos. It's in a beautiful, ranch setting. While we needed to have a free trial stay first, we took half the day off on a Friday, dropped Bruce off and had a nice lunch in Solvang. The facilities are spacious and perfectly clean with zero odor. All the personnel were happy and friendly, as were the dogs. We were skeptical at first when they said they would put Bruce in a group with older, mellower dogs. When we returned, they said he did great and even made some friends. My wife and I were both shocked and pleased. Ruff Ranch was on our way to a Northern California Thanksgiving stay. He boarded for 3 nights and we included the pre-pickup bath. At pickup, he was happy, squeaky clean, nails trimmed with zero issues reported. We are thankful and relieved to have a place to board Bruce in the future with people that really know and love dogs - and it showed in our dog's demeanor at pickup. They also offer obedience training, which I believe is how they can so quickly tailor an optimal setting and experience for your dog, and get them adjusted and safe. Ruff Ranch even offers a shuttle pickup service from SB. We are very relieved that we have a reliable and comfortable boarding solution for our dog in the future; I can't recommend The Ruff Ranch enough.

When I picked him up nothing was said to me; however, within an hour I knew something was wrong because of the way he was acting, and he showed the signs of being stung. I took him to an emergency vet, and, as expected, they advised he had an allergic reaction to "something, most likely a bee." He was treated and released the next day. After I took him in, I called Ruff Ranch, and they admittedly said they gave him Benadryl, but again, didn't bother to let me know. Completely negligent operation at Ruff Ranch as our dog could have died had I not been home with him or preoccupied and was not closely monitoring him.

Bree was great with scheduling a time and even day of with the drop off. Our dog is really not happy with other dogs and she was super sensitive to keep her separate from any other pups. My issue with groomers is how long they keep an animal and we had to wait well beyond the agreed upon pick-up time. Bree didn't call to let us know pick up time would be later than planned, so we ended up having to wait at her business location for another half hour. Our baby was groomed by a trainee and she looked really good! There were a couple modifications we would make, but otherwise we were really impressed. Our pup seemed happy when we picked her up, too.

While there was a hiccup with our originally scheduled grooming appointment (I was told their system mixed up their day's appointments), the company fixed their error and got us on the calendar for a new date for the following week. I truly look forward to this company getting all their "ducks in a row" as far as timely scheduling goes- only because we moved around several obligations in our schedules to make the first appointment work- only for no one to come. If this issue was remedied, they would then, without a doubt, get five stars in my book! Bree was timely and so so sweet with our dog. We could tell right away that she has a lot of knowledge and experience working with canines and treated ours with such love and care. Our dog tends to have quite a bit of separation anxiety but she did seem comfortable enough (as much as we can expect with anyone!) to go with Bree to the mobile spa... and it eased this dog mom's heart knowing that our pup was just a walk down the driveway! Our dog desperately needed a good groom! I was in awe of how quickly Bree was able to do her work, as our dog came back so fresh and soft! I cannot begin to explain the amount of relief from anxiety training my dogs with Ricky has brought me. No amount of therapy could touch how I felt previously. I have learned patience, clear communication (with my dogs), and appreciation of the minds ability to change after years and years of ingrained unwanted behaviors. Ricky does not sell a one size fits all package - each of my dogs are VERY different, and while the fundamental approaches and concepts in training are the same - the method and timing in which we applied and reinforced these were vastly different. Ricky is able to connect with two leggers and four leggers alike - he gives clear feedback to dogs and human and uses metaphors that we humans understand (driving the speed limit and getting speeding tickets haha) on how the concepts of his approach effects dog behavior. I couldn't be happier. I am humble and I know I need to continue management (and one of my dogs I am holding to higher standard so we are going to continue our own sessions based on what I have learned) but my dogs are completely different. I'm getting complimented by family, friends, and people on walks - impressed with how well behaved my dogs are. I smile and tell them "thank you it's lots of continued hard work" and move along. This morning in particular we walked during trash pick up, had lots of people distractions, and both dogs stayed heeled and attentive to me on their separate walks. Do not hesitate to consider Ricky for your training needs. Also, if you feel alone with your dogs behavior - please know you are anything but alone. This review is for my experience over the phone with Lori , I have not visited the clinic…read more My pup wasn't doing well. He was shaking, vomiting, had a lack of appetite, and bloody stool. He's a little guy, so he tends to go downhill quickly if he doesn't get treatment quickly. The vet I typically use said they couldn't see him until 3 days later, even after explaining his symptoms. I didn't want to make my pup suffer that long and I was really concerned because it was getting progressively worse rather quickly. I called local vets. Some weren't taking new patients, some didn't have any openings, some weren't friendly or informative over the phone when I called. I called Lompoc Veterinary Clinic, they could not see him HOWEVER, Lori couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. She was so patient and gave me a long list of other local vets & numbers to try. I was very appreciative of her extra efforts and her caring manner. Not long after my conversation with her she called me back telling me she forgot one other option. She totally went the extra mile and my pet isn't even a patient at this clinic. I'm so grateful to Lori because that phone call made all the difference. I called that last option she gave me and it was EXACTLY what I was looking for. It's VERY rare these days where a business does what they're getting paid to do, even more rare when they're going above and beyond without getting paid for it! I SO appreciate Lori's kindness, thoughtfulness, and her going the extra mile. This is exactly the type of service I would love for my fur baby to receive.
