Hey Sugar is a wonderful dessert shop that serves a nice variety of sweet treats such as cakes,…read morecupcakes, pies, soft-serve ice cream, milkshakes and more. We were in the area and decided to check out this spot as it looked cool and some of the dessert concoctions looked awesome. The shop was nicely decorated, inviting, and had friendly staff. The staff was helpful in getting our tasty as it was our first time here. From their specialty soft-serve ice cream concoctions (eclectic looking sundaes), we ordered a Cloud 9 made with Lavender Honey soft-serve and a Uh Oh Oreo w/ vegan Coconut soft-serve (see my photos). The Cloud 9 came with a cotton candy top and it looked so Instagram perfect. It was delicious. I really liked the Lavender Honey soft-serve. The Oreo one was okay as the vegan Coconut soft-serve was icy and not quite my cup of tea. This shop is a cool, cute, and awesome sweet treats spot that should be on your list to check out if you enjoy desserts.

The air is filled with intoxicating aromas of chocolate, caramel, cotton candy, candy, sugary treats, and so much more. You can't help but to feel a rush of pure bliss and happiness! Everyone was friendly and unbelievably sweet just like the treats. The decorations are frilly, girly, and pink! So, it is definitely a fairly wonderland! From the rows of bulbs and lights. To the two big swings. They make it a point to make it feel fun and festive! The walls of flowers are my favorite part. It makes you feel as if you're in a garden. I also love the Hey Sugar sign that makes for the perfect picture! They also have a British telephone booth, a scooter bar cart, along with inspirational signs that add that fun good vibes! Every little detail is well thought over and it shows. They have a huge selection of unique flavor combinations that are creative and delicious! I will definitely be back every time I'm in town! Snickerdoodle cupcake This cupcake was crumbly, dense, and rich! I loved how it had a swirl of cinnamon goodness throughout the cupcake. Not only was it aesthetically pleasing. But, it added a demotion of flavor to the cupcake that made it stand appart from just a regular cupcake. The frosting was piled high! It was airy, sweet, and light! It tasted like cinnamon French toast but, in frosting format! Unbelievably good! They also put the cutest little snickerdoodle cookie on top. I loved it! It added that little bit of much needed texture and that cuteness that I'm a sucker for. I'm big about multiple textures and well thought out meals. This cupcake was just that! If you are craving something sweet and out of this world. Get this cupcake! Only if you're a huge cinnamon fan though. Strawberry lemonade sparkling I ordered a strawberry lemonade sparkling because it was a really hot day. It was definitely a wonderful suggestion! It was sweet, tangy, and zesty! And, it was unbelievably beautiful. I loved the elegant small dices of strawberries mixed in with the sparkling lemonade. The slice of lemon and the strawberry on the side tied the whole drink together. It was just beautiful! If you enjoy carbonated beverages. Then, you have to try this wonderful creation. I personally thought that it was a little on the sweet side. But, it was still really good! My friend enjoyed every last sip of this Summery surprise. And, I guarantee that every time we're in town that we'll get one.

We were looking for a local coffee and donut shop before visiting my girlfriend's grandma and…read morestumbled across this place tucked between Little Pop's Pizza and New China. It was bright, clean, and busy on an early Saturday morning, with a friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. We ordered a box of four donuts along with a Triple Mocha and a Caramel Latte. The total came to $30.92 after tax... ouch. Our coffees couldn't have been more different. The Triple Mocha was smooth, rich, and full of chocolate flavor without being overly sweet. The Caramel Latte, however, tasted oddly synthetic with a slightly burnt finish. If I'd tried them blind, I wouldn't have guessed they came from the same shop. I was happy; she was disappointed. The donuts were fresh, dense, and clearly made with quality ingredients. They were good (not great) cake donuts, but not quite memorable enough to justify the premium price tag. Overall, we enjoyed the experience more than we didn't, and Grandma loved the coffee cake donuts we brought her. The atmosphere, service, and Triple Mocha stood out, while the inconsistent coffee and steep pricing held it back a bit. We'd come back to try their brunch or a few different donuts, though based on this first visit, I don't expect our overall impression to change much. 3.5/5

Unfortunately, my last few visits to the Elgin Country Donuts have been pretty disappointing,…read moreespecially compared with the consistently great experiences I've had at their Crystal Lake location. Freshness has been the biggest issue. On my most recent visit, my beloved apple fritter was so stale it was virtually inedible, and it's not the first time the donuts here have tasted like they'd been sitting around far too long. Fresh donuts should be the bare minimum at a donut shop. Service has been equally ho-hum; slow, indifferent, and not particularly welcoming. The atmosphere follows suit, with messy tables, sticky floors, and a dining area that has felt neglected on multiple visits. It's just not an inviting place to sit down with a coffee and donut. What makes it frustrating is knowing how good Country Donuts can be. The Crystal Lake location consistently delivers fresh donuts, good coffee, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Elgin lately has felt like the polar opposite. I'd love to see this location turn things around, but after several disappointing visits, I can't chalk it up to an off day anymore.

I love that they have the coconut milk option, many coffee shops where I live dont have that option and soy is gross, oat milk just turns to sugar, and regular milk is fine but kinda makes matcha taste a bit thick so I like coconut milk instead. They also have chocolate crissants which are so good along with other pastries and fun drinks. The cafe decor is so cute . I wish they had something like this where I lived. If you come through Fulton street go through the overpass tunnel of the business plaza. There's a directory board which may help too.
