Hey Sugar is a place that you can't help but love. It's as if you've walked inside of a fairy tale. From the beautiful flowers to the cute swing. Everything is perfect! The air is filled with intoxicating aromas of chocolate, caramel, cotton candy, candy, sugary treats, and so much more. You can't help but to feel a rush of pure bliss and happiness! Everyone was friendly and unbelievably sweet just like the treats. The decorations are frilly, girly, and pink! So, it is definitely a fairly wonderland! From the rows of bulbs and lights. To the two big swings. They make it a point to make it feel fun and festive! The walls of flowers are my favorite part. It makes you feel as if you're in a garden. I also love the Hey Sugar sign that makes for the perfect picture! They also have a British telephone booth, a scooter bar cart, along with inspirational signs that add that fun good vibes! Every little detail is well thought over and it shows. They have a huge selection of unique flavor combinations that are creative and delicious! I will definitely be back every time I'm in town! Snickerdoodle cupcake This cupcake was crumbly, dense, and rich! I loved how it had a swirl of cinnamon goodness throughout the cupcake. Not only was it aesthetically pleasing. But, it added a demotion of flavor to the cupcake that made it stand appart from just a regular cupcake. The frosting was piled high! It was airy, sweet, and light! It tasted like cinnamon French toast but, in frosting format! Unbelievably good! They also put the cutest little snickerdoodle cookie on top. I loved it! It added that little bit of much needed texture and that cuteness that I'm a sucker for. I'm big about multiple textures and well thought out meals. This cupcake was just that! If you are craving something sweet and out of this world. Get this cupcake! Only if you're a huge cinnamon fan though. Strawberry lemonade sparkling I ordered a strawberry lemonade sparkling because it was a really hot day. It was definitely a wonderful suggestion! It was sweet, tangy, and zesty! And, it was unbelievably beautiful. I loved the elegant small dices of strawberries mixed in with the sparkling lemonade. The slice of lemon and the strawberry on the side tied the whole drink together. It was just beautiful! If you enjoy carbonated beverages. Then, you have to try this wonderful creation. I personally thought that it was a little on the sweet side. But, it was still really good! My friend enjoyed every last sip of this Summery surprise. It's easy to get overwhelmed, but with the help of a Hey Sugar associate, you will find what your tooth is craving! The location, ambiance and decor are all inviting. Everything in the store says "eat me!" I requested the red velvet cupcake and a strawberry shortcake cupcake with buttercream icing!! Neither cupcake disappointed. Incredibly charming sweet shop in downtown Geneva. From the time you enter the doorway and walk in it's whimsical and Instagram-able. The counter girl was helpful. However, for what you get it's pricey. I bought a milkshake, a lemonade and a cupcake and my total was $27. I know I'm paying for ambience (and I am in Geneva) having incredibly special looking treats but the lemonade I had was just OK. The concept was great. It had a lavender ice cube, a lemonade, ice cube and a watermelon ice cube on top and I had club soda poured in, but it took forever for it to melt to get any flavor. My daughter had a red velvet milkshake that she said was really great and it looked super cute when she got it. The lemon cupcake was good. However, there were truffles being sold in the case no bigger than a nickel in size that were $5 each. I couldn't even imagine what kind of magic that must've tasted like for $5. Will I be back? Probably since it was so charming inside but next time maybe I'll just stick to a cupcake. read more

Soft serve and mango mousse is a bit pricey at $6, cupcakes $4.50, cafe drinks $5, had 1 cupcake, 3 basic soft serves, 2 mango mousses , and a cold brew and the bill was roughly $40. I have been here a few times, and although novel with cupcake styles/flavors, the quality of product does not meet the visual expectation. More so recently. I just brought home 2 cupcakes for my hubby and I, and they were disappointingly small and even thought I let them come to room temperature before consuming they were both very dry and the frosting was hard, almost fudge like, kind of crumbly instead of buttercream-y. I have had better from the grocery store for half the price. Cupcakes there are $4.50 each and not at all great... too bad... Wow when you see this place from outside it looks simply magical! When you open the doors it makes you feel like a kid in the candy store! So many great cupcake, ice cream, and hot drink options! The prices are modest compared to other dessert places we have dined at. We were so happy to see peanut butter options on the menu board because most places avoid it! We will be back for sure! This was my first time stopping in! I like the store's layout, it definitely is young and has tons of Instagram worthy backgrounds. The cupcakes I would give 3.5 stars. I review every cupcake shop on a vanilla cupcake because I think basic cupcake flavors can be hard for some places and it makes it the easiest for comparison. The vanilla let me down here. The cake was very dense and slightly dry. The frosting was decent. Good cake to frosting ratio and overall size. I just wouldn't get this again based on the texture. Then I had a carrot cake cupcake and that was so much better! So I would try different flavors from them given this. The cream cheese frosting had a nice flavor and the carrot cake was moist and had different consistencies of ingredients mixed in. First of all the vibes of the place is very welcoming. The decoration is adorable and instagrammable. We bought a cookie dough peanut butter which was a perfectly moist chocolate cupcake, edible cookie dough, and a piece of a Hershey's bar on top. It was really good and great for the price! The peanut butter explosion is a chocolate soft serve with peanut butter Reese's, salted caramel dressing, and other peanut butter bits. This was so good. I'm usually hesitant on chocolate and peanut butter desserts because they're usually super overwhelming but this was so so good. The chocolate soft serve wasn't overwhelming, the peanut butter flavors came out even after you finish the top part, and the salted caramel drizzle was the right amount of salt to boost the sweetness. 5/5 will definitely come back! read more

Hey Sugar is a fun stop when traveling through Geneva's walkable downtown. This would not be my go to sweets shop, but it is definitely worth the trip for the novelty of the experience. The shop is fun, plenty of photo ops and full of sweet smells. The menu is nuts! You need a translator for it, I used one of the workers. My son was tempted by some photos, but settled on the Oreo cake shake...except, he did not want the cake in the shake. This meant I paid $8.60 for a vanilla ice cream Oreo blizzard basically, but again, this was a special trip. The price tag is the reasonI could not make this our regular shop, although that may not deter everyone. The shake was good, there was a lot of whipped cream on too with frosting around the cup to hold on the sprinkles. There were plenty of Oreos mixed in, and the shake was thick. That was my one other complaint, we love a thick shake, but it destroyed the paper straw before he was half way done. I had a plastic straw in the car, but be warned, the paper just won't hold up for the duration of the shake. Good for them on using paper, but get an extra if you order a shake. My partner and I came to Geneva, IL to spend a night at the Herrington Inn & Spa. We passed by Hey Sugar after getting off of the Metra station, and I knew right away we needed to come. We went with the cookies and crème cupcake -- it had a cute little Oreo cookie on top, and it was so delicious. It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon, we decided to eat our cupcake outside, and I'd recommend Hey Sugar to anyone in the area looking for a sweet treat. You won't be disappointed. The decor inside also super colorful and lively which makes me feel like a kid at heart. I'm already thinking about coming back here to have the full on experience. I came back yesterday to try their ice cream -- we did the vanilla / chocolate swirl in a cup, and it was delicious and creamy. The spoon was giving me mood changing vibes because when it was in the cold ice cream it was a bright green, but as it left my mouth it turned yellow (I felt like a kid being fascinated by that). Typical Geneva pricing due to the local real estate values, I'm sure their lease/rent is insane. The place is very clean and colorful inside. Let's start by talking about how cute the inside of the shop is! It's freaking adorable in there. The ice cream is delicious and so are the cupcakes. I love the colored cones they offer and they have a good selection of pre-created ice cream but can also make you what you ask for. I ordered a black cone with vanilla ice cream and the 24K gold leaf (they were out of gold so I got silver). My 2 younger sisters ordered the uh-oh orea in a cup with a pink cone on the side and the other ordered the Cloud 9- which comes with a huge serving of cotton candy on top. My mom ordered the Espress Yo' Self and that was actually really good considering it had espresso in it. When you order the espress yo' self they ask if you want a light or medium roast shot, so it's nice that you get a choice. The hot chocolates smell delicious and I intend to order one on my next trip. They do their best to have everyone maintain 6ft. distance and everyone wears their masks correctly inside. The employees are so friendly and kind- it seems like it's hard to find employees like them these days. I will most definitely make the 40 minute trip again to keep trying different menu items, or just make up my own creations. I definitely recommend if you like trying new places and like hot chocolate, ice cream, or cupcakes. They do have a few other items on the menu, like truffles or shakes. read more
