On our way to another bakery we came upon this place. Delicious Maple Wood Latte which is from their winter menu! Not too sweet. Has a hint of rosemary and comes with a sprig of it. A tad on the pricier side though at $8.44, including tax. My friend had the black sesame latte and really enjoyed that as well. Strong black sesame flavor but in a good way and it also wasn't overly sweet. The decor is fairly minimalistic. Seems bright and airy inside. There are several tables to sit at. I came here because I saw they had a tokyo fog matcha, but apparently it was a seasonal item, so I didn't have the chance to try it :(( I was so bumbed out about that. I usually conduct thorough research on coffee shops before visiting, but I was in desperate need of a pick-me-up and so happened to be having lunch next door, so I made my way to Dear Coffee. The interior is so cute, I love the minimalist design & it seemed like everyone else in the neighborhood does as well since this small shop was PACKED. I truly wasn't expecting much, since I find a trend in aesthetically pleasing coffee shops not having great coffee -- but boy was I wrong. I got a latte and I wish I lived nearby so I could consume this every day. It wasn't too sweet, the coffee was smooth and was perfectly strong. The star of the show are their syrups, which I could automatically tell they made homemade since my vanilla syrup had specks of actual vanilla bean throughout. Most recently stopped by to get their seasonal drinks (a dirty black sesame latte and a fig and spice matcha) and enjoyed both. Besides the seasonal drinks, their offerings are pretty well priced for Manhattan. Decent amount of seats, some savory options (like avocado toast) available, and overall a good vibe on a nice corner of Lexington. read more

The allure of the pecan pie latte at Dear Coffee drew me in. The description sounded appealing on this crisp autumn day and the latte did not disappoint. It was slightly sweet, but not cloyingly so and had subtle notes of pecan, but it was natural tasting, unlike the pecan latte I recently had at Starbucks. This latte was topped with little pecan pie bits. It definitely was on the pricey side, at $8+ but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I look forward to trying it again. read more

Such a cool coffee spot to visit if you're on the upper east side. I dropped in because I wanted to try this latte I heard about that they had on their fall menu. I stopped in to find friendly employees and a quiet vibe of a coffee shop. People were using their laptops, people were conversing, it was definitely giving neighborhood coffee spot if you live in this area. I decided to go with the pecan pie latte and a mini pecan sticky bun. It did not disappoint me. The latte could have been a bit hotter but it was good. It had this sweet toffee nutty flavor with real pecans crushed into the drink so you were able to drink and chew with each sip. It was so good. It went well with the mini bun that was the perfect size for someone who doesn't always want an oversized bun treat.This was just what I needed. Stopped by Dear Coffee to grab some pick-me-ups! The cookie butter latte was really solid! Loved how they added biscoff cookie crumbs which was well suspended and dispersed in the drink. It is on the sweeter side, as expected, but wasn't too creamy as an latte. The cortado was also really good. The store itself is really cute - minimalistic with warm lighting and light pink accents. Not a lot of table seating but there is a bench area as well as a standing counter by the window. Looking forward to check out their other drinks next time! read more

Checked out this spot around 3 pm on a Sunday, and it was PACKED. Luckily after several minutes, a table cleared up, and I was able to sit down to do some work. They had a couple of specials -- I tried the Tokyo Fog, a matcha latte with housemade Earl Grey syrup and butterfly pea flowers. I quite enjoyed it! As far as coworking environments go, I hesitate to recommend this spot. It's a bit small, so because the staff are super chatty with each other, combined with the music and conversations from other customers, the cafe is a cacophony of noises. The AC was also blasting, despite it being 66 degrees outside, and there isn't any restroom for customers, just an Employees Only door. read more

The coffee is well made, good selection, beans that are not over roasted. The pastries are good as well, though I'd like to see some sweeter options. One downside is that the coffee is never really hot; they do not froth the milk - at least for the lattes - long enough to match the heat of the coffee. Finally some good coffee in the UES! A welcome, new addition with Japanese/asian influence and minimalist vibes. Love the décore and the vibe of this place but their coffee is legit too. Got a bag for myself to bring home and make my own coffee which was enjoyable. The staff were very friendly and efficient. I ordered an iced chai and a pain au chocolat, the former of which was delicious! The flavor wasn't watered down and they sprinkled cinnamon on top. The pain au chocolat left something to be desired -- it was a little chewy and not as flaky as I'd like a croissant to be. I went at about 11:30am on a Saturday, so the shop was quite packed. There isn't a lot of room in the cafe to sit or stand, so it felt cramped. I wouldn't recommend this place as a spot to go sit down and enjoy a conversation with a friend or work, but rather it's best to grab your coffee and go for a walk. When I came here on their opening day I was excited to try a new coffee shop in the area. I did not have any if the pastries I saw. I had an iced latte and to me it was not that good. It was a bit bitter for me. I may go back to try another coffee drink though and see if it tastes different. This is a cute spot located on the corner of 84th and Lex. It is right near the subway stations and on the bus route line. So a very good location for foot traffic. read more

When I walked in I was greeted with a wide smile from the barista who took my order. It's such a rarity nowadays that I knew I had to write a review here. I noticed they had a few tables and chairs in the back. The front had a standing bar and a bench which are great for people waiting for their orders. I came early on a weekend morning so there weren't a lot of people. They still had plenty of pastries available - croissants and danishes. I got their Iced Yuzu Matcha. It was hella good! It had strong matcha flavor and the yuzu reminded me of a lemonade. I knew already that matcha pairs well with citrus so I expected it to be good. What surprised me was that it wasn't overly sweet to mask the sourness of the yuzu. Additionally, it was made really pretty! The bottom layer was the pale yellow yuzu, top layer was green matcha and topped with a golden dust of turmeric powder (maybe?). I'm not usually in the UES area but this cafe will definitely be my go-to whenever I'm in the area. read more

This was a pleasant find. It's just a few blocks from the park. It's a small cafe with just a few seats. Nice and clean. Their coffee was surprisingly so so good. I loved it instantly. A sleek, modern beautifully designed space. Great to have an alternative coffee shop from the chains that thrive on the UES. Wish they served a bit of food as the coffee was just ok. The barista looked like a cross between John Early and Harry Potter and if you don't know who John Early is, you're probably not the target demo for this coffee shop. This raised an eyebrow: The prices listed are only for the smallest size however there are 2 iced drink sizes and 3 hot drink sizes so this seems like purposely deceptive business practice. The design of this place is 4 stars, the coffee is 3 stars and the service was 2 stars so averaging them out. read more
