    Come hungry is my advice.

Having been here over a zillion years this place has seen San Antonio through some tough times. It's been here from the moon landing, Kennedy assassination, COVID and even a fantastic review from Captain Flavortown. ( Most restaurants fold after his visit). The menu has streamlined with the times but the portion sizes and quantity is straight out of the 50s. They still have all the classic diner style options from burgers to seafood sandwiches to salads. My Grand got me hooked on the Chicken fried steak as a youngster. Its remained the same for 40 years. Giant, modest crust and gravy underneath. This is an old southern tradition, and it's brilliant! It keeps the steak moist and the crust crunchy. YES!!!. Opted for the side salad and baked potato. Wonderful sides. Although the onion rings are universally famous, I have to say you should order them when your eating with a partner, even the half order is generous. The decor hasn't changed much in a while other than the buck heads are gone and the music is more soft rock. But not to worry since each of the booths have its own mini jukebox. Definitely a conversation started between you and the kids . Remember to save room ( if possible ) for the icebox pie. So many choices, my favorite has to be the banana cream but the chocolate is really good too, so is the .....better get a couple of slices and a bunch of spoons!

Had lunch here on my way through San Antonio specifically because someone had them recommended for chicken fried steak. Their CFS was well tenderized, but crust was a little plentiful for my taste. And was served over gravy! Now, the gravy was very tasty with good consistency, but served beneath the CFS with no question as to preference was different. The service and speed of order fulfillment was great. The ambiance is nothing special, as this is old-school diner complete with juke boxes at the booths. The clientele was mainly older and non-demanding. In conclusion, although I enjoyed the CFS, not sure that it would be on my list of best chicken fried steak in Texas.

If you're craving a really good, no-nonsense burger, this is the place. We came on a Saturday night, and while it was definitely busy, there was plenty of seating for larger groups as well as families (we saw groups and families of four seated comfortably). Even with the crowd, the wait was surprisingly short. The staff is very friendly, and our burgers came out fast -- less than seven minutes. The burgers were delicious with great flavor, and the fries were fresh and hot. The vibe is a nice country-trendy feel -- not overly hipster or modern, just comfortable and welcoming. Another thing we really appreciated was the service: staff greeted us when we walked in and when we left, which always makes a place feel inviting. They also offer a kids meal (grilled cheese, fries, and a kids drink), which is a great option for families. Overall, great burgers, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere. We'd definitely recommend stopping by and checking out Diana's Burgers.

Now this place was PACKED. Parking spots limited although outside they have a sign telling you where there's more parking which we liked. We opted for an American cheese burger this time instead of the well loved cheddar cheese burger. The lady that got our order was nice but seemed definitely stressed, no time for pleasantries but I can understand. Although as a first timer it can be a little scary to order especially if you have questions because they did not seem like the type to want to answer questions. I got mine with lettuce, tomato and mayo. The burger itself was good, the mayo had a weird sweet taste to it that I did not like and kind of ruined the experience for me. The fries were really good in my opinion, they do not salt them, so we added salt ourselves, I just really liked how crispy they were on the outside and soft on the inside. The restaurant itself is welcoming, busy as I stated. And definitely one for the locals. You stand out if you're not a local and the tables are mostly set up community style.

It seemed the boats going up and down the River portion of the Walk were busier. While we were walking I had my eyes open for a table with a view. We stopped at Four Brothers. The receptionist went over suggestions on the menu on her outdoor podium. Cornbread in the shape of Texas, shareable items like Dino ribs for $82, plus Pork Shank and ice tea completed our order. Everyone was very friendly. We had an exceptional view and we had more than enough food that we had to ask for take out boxes. My favorite was the Mac & cheese though I'm usually not a fan. This dish used cork screw shaped pasta and it was moist and not stuck together. I had to share a photo of it with Sweetie who is in Tokyo right now. Doc liked the pimento for the cornbread. As it was almost 9 pm we decided to pass on the boat ride but just walk on the other side with shops and more eateries. We're back on the road again tomorrow to Arizona.
