Been coming here since childhood, and my family has becoming here since they opened! It always delivers. The wait staff is always wonderful. Service is consistent. Its hurts my heart to leave a bad review but its the only way folks can get an idea of how good or not a restaurant is. Now to be honest this was only our second time here and we were surprised on what a different experience we had today (father's day) . So we got there late and they had advertise smoked pork rib special for father's day. Not that I was planning on ordering but it adds to the whole experience. Ok so we get a table and get our drinks. We look over the menu, I decide on ground steak with bake potatoe and corn. Strike 1, no baked potato! And everything else I wanted also needs its baked potato. Strike 2. The waitress/hostess tells me "were out of baked potatos and ribs, you missed out" and I told her "nope I dont really like pork ribs now if yall had Beef ribs that be different " 'Oh we had beef ribs too' They didn't and all they advertised was pork, but she kept on and on. Ive been here 25 years . Ok Ill have a chefs salad. We all know mostly what to expect with a chefs salad right! Give or take each restaurants different interpretation. To tell yall that this was bad, I didn't even take a picture. And I almost always do. But this thing was covered , the entire plate with yellow grated cheese!!!! What the heck. Its like I ordered a pound of grate cheese over lettuce. It was awful!!! And my wifes philly sandwich was dry!? Strike 3......and we're out. With all the really good restaurants in town that are very good and most importantly consistent ,Bud Jones has fallen way off the return too list. I'd still recommend it but cant promise it'll be any good. I mean its been around for ever so they must be doing something right and our first time was great thats why we came back. To start, upon walking in, I would have left if it wasn't an invite from another person. The smells and the sights were sub level. Smelled old, looked run down, opened in 1954 and let me tell you I believe it! Seems like it started as a house and they just kept adding rooms all of which are now dining rooms . The parking lot is bumpy. The entrance area has a few machine games Expected cheaper prices but they do have several all you can eat dishes Not impressed with the food and although I read the article on the wall that Bob started to be known by his enchiladas... they had to be the worse I've ever had. Rice was hard and cold, corn was from a can, fish was just ok, not much taste to anything. Service was good and they were all efficient though busy However I wouldn't return When you sit and wonder if the health dept has been here .... Not a good sign. My server wasn't attentive to my tablet small party of 2. The food I was very excited for was disappointing smaller portion than I expected. Sent foo back to kitchen and honestly it didn't redeem itself. I think the workers set the environment for my meal more so my server was interested in the lady sitting behind me because he father worked then rather than trying to accommodate my husband and myself. This place is good and very consistent! I've heard of this place for years but always chose to stay away due to poor reviews. Until one day I decided to give it a shot. I wish I had chosen to try it out a long time ago. I only order one thing and it is the massive Chicken Fried chicken they have. The thing is the size of the plate! Me and my partner drive 20 mins just for it! It's always hot, never dry and did i mention? huge! Now the sides are truly nothing to write home about. I do wish they would put more thought into them though. The mashed potato's are clearly from a box. The green beans lack any flavor and also from a can. The bread that accompanies the plate is super dry and could use a brushing of butter. Service is always great and all of the wait staff seem to truly enjoy their job. Do keep in mind this place isn't the nicest. Decor is outdated and I feel like they're going for an oldtimey vibe. They have old music players at some of the tables which really add to the vibe. Place is a bit boxy and could use a different floor plan. In conclusion the chicken fried chicken is great and customer service is also great! After many years gone by not visiting Bud Jones because of poor service. I decided to stop and reminisce of my high school years eating there at Bud Jones on the weekends. I like the food at Bud Jones, especially the Turkey with dressing plate they have usually on Sundays. All their food is delicious.

I had not been here in years. Went for lunch, ordered off the Senior Menu. Had the Roast Beef plate. The meat was very tender, flavorful and filling. The staff keep the glasses full and kept checking on us. The place is Bud Jones, like I remember it which makes you feel back home. I'm glad I came back. They have good food and excellent service. I have been going there for years but until they do something about those nasty bathrooms and their odor in the entrance I don't plan to go back. Order a ham and cheese omelet and it was served. I asked for some hot sauce waitress ask if it was homemade hot sauce, I said yes that would be fine. Boy was in for sticker shock when I received my bill. For the homemade hot sauce it cost $2.99 states on receipt hot sauce cup, the small saucer cup with the hot sauce was probably a 1/4 of cup. Mentioned my disapproval with the cashier of the $2.99 charge and not being told there was an extra charge for hot sauce, she only stated the waitress should of told me and she understood but they charge for everything!! Quality of food is okay. Not what it use to be. Also they seem to be having an issue with charging the correct amount. So far 3 people not including myself have been over charged. They added multiple plates to my ticket and when I addressed the issue they were not too happy. They removed the plates just to re add them at the register. System seems not to be glitching. We used to go there alot but stop going years ago. Because food portions are alot smaller. I remember back then portions were alot bigger. The place looks the same inside and out. Old and run down. No remolding of any kind. It almost feels like I will see roaches and rats . I think that if they do some remolding to brightens up the place. They have a better chance of staying open. Looks too crowded and dark. Too many sitting boot takes away space. Do away the game machines and open up the place. Make it more inviting, less walls and spacious. Service good. Salad good and fresh. Unfortunately my mashed potatoes were instant. My liver and onions so tough I could not eat them. I got one grilled onion with it. It was served with brown gravy but the only two bites I was able to eat tasted like they had been covered in flour but not fried if that makes sense. Worst I have ever had. We were there with a group. Many complaints. We will not be returning. Bud would turn over if he saw how they are running the place. My husband had fish. It has been years since I have been here and the last time I had gotten their chicken fried steak. It used to be good many, many years ago and the last time it wasn't. So this time I got their enchiladas. Well so be it to say they were not good at all. The beans had a hard film over them and they weren't as big as they used to be. I had over heard a customer talking to our waiter about the chicken fried steak and he said since Bud passed the food has gone down hill. So he himself got the enchilada plate and it was swimming in grease. Our waiter was awful as well. He forgot everything we asked for. Took the plates out one by one and we had to ask other wait staff to bring us things. There are other chicken fried steak restaurants and A LOT more Mexican food restaurants to go to other than here.
