Fish with fried rice
Melissa C.

My go to order is the fish with brown gravy. I have been coming here over 25+ years. The cream cheese wontons are also very delicious! Definitely a family favorite.

I walk in and I'm greeted by gentleman his name is Jerry he works the front door and asked me where I'd like to sit so I go into the table I want and my waitress immediately comes and takes my order. I ordered a three-piece fish with gravy on top and fried rice combination fried rice and an egg drop soup with hot oil. My order came out like in 10 to 12 minutes everything was fresh and delicious if you haven't tried the fish and gravy you need to try very good fried rice was delicious my egg drop soup was amazing restaurants clean and so are the restrooms plenty of parking.

This restaurant has been a staple in san Antonio for many years. I have been going to this restaurant since I was young. The atmosphere and ambiance make you feel right at home when eating Chinese food. Their shrimp fried rice is some of the best in san Antonio. Pretty much everything is on point. I especially like their egg drop soup.

#99...enough said. If you're in SA and need to try a great meal that is part of the local culture, get the fish and gravy.

We spotted the Esquire Tavern and decided to head upstairs from the river to check it out. The moment we walked inside, we were impressed by its beautiful old-school, historic charm. The interior was very well maintained, with a large and inviting bar, so we decided to grab a couple of seats there. The bartenders were incredibly friendly, and one of them spent some time talking with us about San Antonio and recommending neighborhoods we should explore. He suggested visiting the Pearl District, which turned out to be fantastic advice. We made it there later in our trip and had a great time, so his recommendation ended up adding another memorable experience to our vacation. We enjoyed the Esquire Tavern so much that we visited twice during our week-long stay. We primarily stopped in for beers, but the food always looked tempting. On our second visit, we finally ordered some bar food to share, and it was delicious. If you're near the River Walk and looking for a great place to relax, enjoy a drink, and catch up, the Esquire Tavern is an excellent choice. It has a beautiful atmosphere, friendly service, and top-notch food and drinks. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in San Antonio.

Made reservations based on a locsl to San Antonio's 5 star Yelp Review!! Ironically, he is…read moretraveling in Ohio and I stumbled across his reviews. I went to see where he gave high marks in San Antonio. Cappy's was in his recent review list and only a 16 minute drive from our hotel on the river walk. My husband ordered the old fashioned that he enjoyed very much. I had SPANISH TONIC mocktail (chamomile, juniper, pink peppercorn, mint and lemon) it was lovely. We also had the shrimp and Brussels. OH my was it delicious. It's was a generous portion and I thought we'd not finish it, but we did. The use of chilli oil didn't make it too hot, but perfect. The shrimp were so light and perfectly fried. I ordered the mustang chicken. Wow was it delicious. The vegetables were perfectly roasted. I gave my husband the mushrooms but I ate the okra, carrots, zucchini and it was excellent. The chicken was soooo very tender and so flavorful! The mashed potatoes were heavenly! My husband had the Beef Tenderloin. It was perfectly prepared to his medium rare request. He enjoyed it very much. He also liked very much my chicken! He liked the fingerlings, but had more of my mashed potatoes ! These are not normal mashed. They truly are extraordinary! Mallory the manager came by to see how we were enjoying it. I explained how I found it and it was our first time. She offered a first timers dessert. I didn't think we'd have room, but we managed and had the Sticky Pudding. An absolute Perfect way to w d a perfect meal! Well done team! Have already told the hotel staff they need to go there and recommend yo people who want a wonderful meal!!! Hope to come again next time we visit San Antonio!!!

When I visited Cappy's for brunch it was a beautiful morning to sit outside…read more I ordered a blueberry mimosa along with the Homard (truffled scrambled eggs, lump crab, and butter-poached cold-water lobster tail). Unfortunately, the dish fell short, especially given the description and price point. I couldn't detect any truffle flavor at all, and the scrambled eggs were disappointing. They lacked the light, fluffy texture one would expect at a restaurant of this caliber. There was a generous amount of crab, and the lobster tail was cooked well, but the overall dish didn't come together. The pastry basket was the highlight. Everything was warm, fresh, and tasted freshly baked. The strawberry butter, however, was underwhelming. It lacked the richness of butter as well as any noticeable strawberry taste. Given this restaurant's reputation I look forward to coming back and giving it another try.
