Food was amazing, definitely will be back! Such a welcoming atmosphere and great people, must try the chicken fried steak!

I was a bit disappointed by this restaurant reincarnated. The food is fine, what we ordered tasted good. But being a regular at the San Antonio version of Acadiana Cafe that closed I felt a bit cheated by the new La Coste version. It is no longer a cajun restaurant. The only Cajun dishes I saw available were the M-F daily lunch specials. Now more an Americana cafe. And it's interesting to visit. You enter into the La Coste Hotel bar, and order food at the bar. Then find a table (inside or out). The bartender takes your order ticket to a food trailer outside, then brings you a beeper and your drink order. Once your beeper goes off you need to go out back to the food trailer to pick up your order. The ruben sandwich ok, kinda thin but everything present. The chicken fried steak fingers were good, but had small pieces of beef inside thick breading. All tasted ok, well cooked and seasoned. Just was hoping for some étouffée and fried okra. I understand different owners than the San Antonio version, so maybe in the future might get its cajun mojo back.

This review is only for the customer service. I live over an hour and 15 minutes away. I called to ask if they are open whoever answered the phone said yes and gave me the times. I get in the car and drive there to find out that they have a private event. The restaurant is closed for this specific event. It was upsetting having to drive all this way. The building itself is historical. It looks like a really cute place for a dining experience. Also another sad news is they do not offer crawfish anymore. My trips to the old Acadiana were specifically to eat crawfish! What a bummer!

I had been a patron of the original location in San Antonio for decades so was really excited to see the new place. The menu is pared down from the original because this is a smaller location but the food was excellent! I was told that they are slowly expanding and adding to the menu. The cajun nachos, sausage & chicken gumbo and the pastrami sandwich were excellent.... But please bing the cornbread back!!

Catfish was excellent! Red beans & rice on point & fresh homemade lemonade was the best! Great meal!

The shop is made from an old gas station that was converted into a cafe. They serve pastries along with a wide range of coffee beverages. I always find myself drawn to their seasonal drinks, which are usually themed around something fun. This year's holiday menu was Ice Age themed, but I remember last year being Shrek themed, and I think there was even a Top Gun themed menu at some point over the summer. For the Ice Age menu, I got a Manny which was a Chocolate Orange Mocha drink. I got it hot and it was great! The space inside is quiet, nice, and well lit. It's a great place to get work done. In the past, I've noticed the wifi could be tragically slow, which made some tasks difficult. During my most recent visit, though, I don't recall the wifi being slow at all, so it seems like that issue has been fixed. There is also plenty of outdoor seating if you get lucky with one of the three nice weather days in San Antonio. I really like the coffee here. For such a small shop, they do a great job, and it has become an essential stop for me every time I am in Castroville. RIYL: Coffee shops that are old gas stations but do not have a functional gas pumps anymore, so you don't accidentally get gasoline instead of a latte. I hate when that happens!!

Since Bandera is a bit of a drive from San Antonio, I decided to make a little day trip out of it. I came across this café and immediately thought it was such a cute spot. Parking was a little tricky, with limited spaces available right in front, but it wasn't a major issue. When I walked in, I was greeted right away by two friendly baristas. I asked for a recommendation and ended up ordering one of their favorites--the Honey Badger. It was delicious and definitely a solid choice. What stood out most to me wasn't even the coffee--it was the atmosphere. The shop felt warm, welcoming, and full of community. There were families and friends catching up, and there was even a dedicated area where kids could play while everyone relaxed. The coffee shop sits above the restaurant below, giving it a cozy, tucked-away feel. After getting my drink, I settled into one of the couches and ended up playing my Nintendo Switch for a few hours. It was one of those rare coffee shops where you feel comfortable lingering without feeling rushed. Overall, if I find myself back in Bandera, I would absolutely stop by again for a coffee and maybe try one of their snacks next time. If you're looking for a cozy place to relax, work, or catch up with friends, Cowgirl Coffee is worth checking out.

But if you're in or around Castroville - I'd tell you to go to Octane Coffee. Found them on Yelp this morning. They are tough to find. As a matter of fact, when I pulled up to their current location I literally said aloud in my car..."Is this a joke? - this is a winery." But after a short investigation, I did indeed find good coffee. I spent about an hour hanging out with the owner and his mother. We were the only ones in the place. They were both incredibly friendly. The Hazelnut latte I ordered was just hot enough, had four shots in it, and was very good. Plus - they had wifi :) I even bought a bag of coffee the owner recommended. I was sorry to hear the story about their current location, though. Seems they used to be "downtown Castroville", but the landlord kept raising their rent, and he could only roast his coffee beans during certain times, etc. Sad when local business are pushed out for almighty dollar.... Anyway - They moved to this current location, which, I'll be honest, is not the most convenient - but it gives the owner a chance to do his deal! Wishing them all the best! Will go back if I'm in the area...

Lots of flavor. $1 more. My decaf latte with oat milk ($2 extra) and sugar free Belgian cookie syrup was nice. The price for the oat milk was steep, I don't think I've ever paid that much extra. I may skip it next time and go for the caffeine free teas. I ordered a hippie bar and honey glazed pecans to go. I really enjoyed the hippie bar- peanut butter, gluten free oats, chia, seeds, and dried cranberries. Lots of seating inside.
