The interior is very colorful, with yellow and blue walls and multicolored seats. It's not as drab as Ortega, but it's slightly toned down compared to the modern looking DLG. Carrillo specializes in Italian and Asian, with a full Mongolian grill. They serve stir fried noodles, beef, chicken, several types of pasta and sauces, pizza, tacos, etc. Unlike Ortega and DLG, Carrillo lacks an ice cream bar, and there is a soft serve yogurt machine instead. The food here is decent, and far better than what the other dining commons serve. Although it's across the lagoon, the trip to eat here is worth it.

The pork was cooked to perfection: savory, juicy, and full of flavor and fat. The peppers were charred but not burnt. The melted cheese was plentiful. Combined with thin tortillas and sautéed onions and I can't even begin to fathom a better combination of satiating, mouth-watering ingredients. My wife's potato taquitos were also a hit, in addition to their house-made guac and chips and salsa. The ambience was lowkey for a cozy Wednesday afternoon, and the dining room is decorated with such colorful flare. Our server was incredibly sweet and gave us wonderful recommendations for our next visit, too! The issue with Del Pueblo Cafe is that although they have variety in their coffee menu, they are usually out of many things. I work nearby and have tried to time my lunch in order to make it in before they close the coffee bar, just to find the drink I want they are out of. I first came in for coffee week and fell in love with their Platano Latte. Myself and my boyfriend would then go in every other week and the barista would only have enough syrup for one or two drinks until it became more consistently no syrup at all. I also follow their page on Instagram and the hours vary greatly depending on the owner?/barista. And while I understand this is a small business, the inability of knowing whether they will be open or have the drink I want has been frustrating. Unfortunately this has lead to us not going back at all. I recommend that they make a permanent drink of the day so that customers know what to expect on any given day, sort of how Shalhoob's does with their daily specials and put it on the menu so that customers who don't use social media know what to expect. I once organized an event on campus which they catered for, and it was completely professional, delicious, and a big hit. Even though I am no longer a student at SBCC, I eat here when I can (they are only open during the academic year for lunch), and am never disappointed. A server will come to your table, and most meals include a free trip to the soup and salad bar. They have a huge selection of sandwiches, salads, shakes, sides, seasonal items, and other alliterations. Prices are low: $6 gets you a generous club sandwich with fries, and shakes and blended drinks are just $3. There is seating both indoors and outdoors, but you can expect crowds any time the cafe is open. Many people are there for take-out, so you should still be able to find a seat. To top it off, you can't beat the location. A fifteen minute bus ride will get you there from Downtown, or you can park at one of the metered stalls steps away from the cafe. SBCC is located at the top of a cliff, and if you like, you can take your meal with you and sit at La Playa Stadium or on the grass at West Campus and enjoy your meal with a view of the ocean. On a clear day, you can see the Channel Islands, and on other days you can still see dolphins jumping in the waves.
