I stopped into this eatery (No. 3 in Goleta) on an early weekday afternoon this week. There was only one person sitting outside. I walked right up to the counter, so no waiting. At that point. I ordered an eggplant sandwich and sat down. I waited close to 20 minutes for the sandwich, which I felt was too long, considering there was only one person ahead of me, and the place looked adequately staffed. The cook making the food was terribly slow. Maybe a newbie? Didn't seem to know how to handle knives, cut avocados, etc. Slow. I had time to look around the restaurant, which has several signs posted about acceptable behavior in the restaurant. "Don't ask for a to-go container. We will provide you with one if you haven't finished your food. We try to cut down on waste." Now, when I ordered, I was asked, "For here or to go?" Hum? Another sign by the pickle bar read, "Please do not use for pickles. Put your pickles in your red basket." OK. But what are we not supposed to use for pickles? That wasn't clear. I found such signage strange, particularly since the eatery is at the base of office buildings, where I assume, adults are employed. We aren't preschoolers. Why the strict code just to grab a sandwich? I am delighted to say, my eggplant was very good. But due to the wait, I will have lunch elsewhere. read more

I had no idea Three Pickles was here, good location in Old town Goleta, if you are leaving the airport and need to grab a quick bite this is a good spot Looks like they get lots of the business lunch crowd, fast pace kitchen , busy biz , many to go orders while I was there waiting for mine ! Cute little sandwich shop tucked away in a business center. Service was pretty fast and sandwich was BIG! Split it between two people and it was the perfect amount of food. I like that all the toppings are chopped so you get some in every bite. The pickle bar was mid in my opinion, only 3 options that all tasted similar but worth a try. I caught wind of 3 Pickles Deli through the Sandwich Week ads and had been counting down the days to try it. I showed up for my first visit, totally unaware they closed at 3 PM. Rookie mistake--but the manager was kind enough to still take my order. I went with the Cubano, and honestly... I'm still thinking about it. Perfectly pressed, smoky, melty, tangy--every bite was spot on. One of those sandwiches that makes you pause mid-bite and reconsider all your previous sandwich choices. One of my favorite sandwich spots in Santa Barbara. Three Pickles has made to order subs that are consistently made to perfection. The "Subs are Way" is my usual go to. I just pick the deli meat I'm feeling for the day and they top it off with their own pickle, tomato, onion and sand which dressing combo. You can't go wrong with it. They also have a variety of specialty sandwiches and salads if you want to have something different. You have to stop by the pickle bar and grab some pickles or pepperoncinis. I have loved their sandwiches-- but the quality seems to vary pretty greatly from order to order. I am a sucker for the Goodland Club when it's good (pun, I'm sorry) but I've gotten a few where the bread and meat were really dry and I didn't want to finish it-- which says a lot as I'll eat pretty much anything. The sandwiches at Three Pickles are the BEST! I never really ate sandwiches but Three Pickles has changed me. The Canon Capicola Club sandwich is amazing - the crispy capicola makes the sandwich even better - that crunch is so yummy. Whenever we are in the Goleta area we look forward to picking up a sandwich. I can't seem to order anything but the Canon Capicola as it is SO good. Highly recommend this place - it's in a business center, so it's a little tucked away, but so worth finding. I've been stopping by three pickles and my husband and I always share a pastrami on rye. Went today and it wasn't quite as good as in the past. Was a little greasier, and I think I would prefer the rye not to be toasted. It gets a little too hard. Don't go here if you're in a rush because they do take their time. The best sandwich I've ever had! I got the Gaucho with bell pepper and asked for it to be spicy. I got au jus and some spicy pepperoncini on the side. The sandwich was super cheesy, with a generous amount of meat. I don't usually like sandwiches, but this was just fantastic! Also the pickles on their self serve counter is just amazing. I added some pepper flakes to spice it up, and it was just perfect. Tbh I wanna go back to get more of their self-serve pickles. read more

Took Amtrak up to Goleta today. Found this place on our walk from the station to the beach. Staff is super friendly, food was really good. I had the pastrami on a french roll and a bowl of their chowder, Really good! My husband had the turkey, mustered was a but spicy but sandwich was good. I don't find many sandwich places id come back to but I'll definitely be back to this one! I would have taken a picture but I ate it to fast. Best sandwiches in Santa Barbara hands down! I ordered the Reuben and the Goodland club and they were both delicious! The Reuben has pastrami, Swiss cheese and sauerkraut on rye bread. There was a TON of pastrami on it and it was amazing. Ask for a side of auj ju with it as it pairs perfectly with the pastrami! I also ordered the goodland club which might easily be one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. The sandwich was so thick and filled with fresh vegetables, a ton of ham and the best bacon I have ever had. For around $12 each, these sandwiches are more than worth it. The interior of the restaurant was clean and well decorated and the employees were friendly. My sandwiches came out very quickly. I also liked how they have a complementary pickle bar where you can choose from a variety of pickles to eat with your sandwich. Ordered the Gaucho today. Basically this is their take on a Philly Cheesesteak. Man if you like meat, there is a TON of meat. My big mouth had trouble even getting around the roll. Flavor was good however. Au jus made it go down smoothly. Cheese was nicely melted and roll had a nice crunch from the toasting. I usually add some bell peppers to go with this meat monster. Overall a good sandwich. Just might need a nap now. Also, make sure to get some pickles from the self-help pickle bar. They are tasty. Reminds me of the old east coast Jewish delis where you pick your pickle from a barrel. They also have a good selection of kettle chips and sodas. I have tried some of the other sandwiches too, they all have a good helping of meat. A good place to grab lunch. My advice is order ahead online even if you eat in. It gets busy. Today was my first visit to Three Pickles Sandwich Deli located in the City of Goleta, CA. My first impression was that is was seated in a very nice area; nestled deep in a large parking lot surrounded by several businesses. Another thing that captured my attention was the colorful umbrellas which denoted outside seating; a plus on a beautiful day. The sandwich menu was nothing out of the normal and the wait time time to order was a little long. I came to understand the name of the deli once I realized they offered three types of pickles: kosher, dill and pepper chilies . Today I ordered a whole sandwich: roasted turkey on a sub roll, chips and a fountain drink. My total was $12.00. My meal was sufficient and actually I only consumed half of what I ordered If you prefer salads or soups, no worries...the deli offers a variety: menu attached in photos. It is my understanding the deli has other locations such as downtown Santa Barbara. The Deli offers catering, online and phone in orders!! I enjoyed my first experience and the only thing that kept me from giving it a 5 star was the location of the restroom which is located in the building adjacent to the deli. read more

I like their sandwiches very much, but, somehow, they forgot to make my order this time. I've waited for 40 minutes and I can see that other people who ordered after me were being served. I spoke with the manager and her explanation was, "they are very busy". That is true, however, it should have been first come first served. Tried Three Pickles for the first time today! My coworkers come here often so I was excited to see what the hype was about. For a little over $10, I got the regular sized De La Guerra sandwich which came loaded with meat, cheese, avocado, cooked onions, and salsa. It supposedly also comes with au jus, but wasn't included in my order for some reason. Not a huge deal - the sandwich was still good regardless and the bread they used was amazingly crunchy. One thing to note: since the menu states "avocado" as an ingredient, I was expecting slices, but instead got guacamole. Again, not a problem, but I wish the description would be more accurate. There are also pickles on the side and though I'm not a fan of pickles in general, they weren't bad. Overall a decent lunch spot! I happened to have forgotten my lunch today so I finally got to give this place a try! this five star is for their club salad. havent tried anything else yet but wow, it was very fresh and good. like eating a hearty club sandwhich without the bread. Three pickles is very good but they take forever to prepare a sandwich. I'm honestly disappointed with the speed of their service. A cold cut sandwich should not take over 20 minutes to make. They need to hire staff that can have the sandwiches ready within a reasonable time (rolling eyes). I'm from Chicago and we take pride in a good 'sammich' (Chicago slang for 'sandwich'). We're kinda like Philadelphia with their cheese steak. The Eye-talian (Chicago pronunciation for "Italian") population in the city is huge leading to a particular style of Italian beef dip, meatball sandwich and sausage sandwich. Well I gotta say, Three Pickles deli delivers and makes this Chicagoan proud--so proud I've been tempted to bring family visiting here from the Windy City. Their Italian Beef even states it in the description: "Chicago style with peppers and au jus on the side." Southsiders will simply request a Beef sandwich "soaked" or "wet" referring to how much au jus they want on the meat AND bun. The beef at Three Pickles is sliced just to the right thickness and bun is similar to a hoagie. You gotta get a side of spicy giardiniera to top it off. This same bun is also used in their Meatball Sandwich which is covered in tangy marinara sauce (not too acidic, slightly sweet) with parmesan cheese and oregano. If it gives you heartburn, it must be good! Three Pickles is non-pretentious (here and at the Cañon Perdido location downtown) and good at exactly what they serve--Sammiches! read more

With a distinctive different feel from the downtown location, Three Pickles in Goleta is in the middle of boring office complex but don't let that steer you down the street. The food is great and outside seating helps this location stand above other, near by sub shops. Inside seating is very limited but I see many people roll with their orders. The Gaucho is my favorite with the optional bell peppers and dip away in the au jus. Regular size is all you need. I don't know how I'd finish a large. Need an East Coast deli fix, the Presido Hot Pastrami 'aint bad. Order at the bar, hand out a bit and grab your hoagie. Not always quick (lunch here is a bear) but always hot/cold and with a smile. Goleta store. First off there was only one employee in the store. 6 people waiting patiently until people started to just walk out! I ordered a Turkey on Sourdough. Built horribly with giant pieces of Lettuce preventing it from even staying together. I had a hard time even finding the Turkey, Only 2 small pieces of meat between TONS of yellow mustard. Bread was moist but bread was completely falling apart. I love the quick service and the local vibe I receive when I come to dine here. It's easy to tell that everything here is fresh, you can just taste it in the food. My go-to is the Canon Capicolla Club on a French roll with no mayonnaise. The crispness and savory flavors of the ingredients marry so well together. You're going to pay over $10 for a sandwich alone, so be prepared.
