I first reached out to Foiled Rotten Salon through Yelp messenger. I've had a difficult time…read moregetting the top portion of my heads natural curl back after box color hair damage. For the last 6 months I tried different home remedies and nothing was working. My hair was dry and curl at the top was just not doing anything. That's when I decided to look on Yelp and see what others have been saying about local salons. This brought me here to FRS, Veronica the owner was very responsive through Yelp messaging and suggested glossing with some curl treatments. After reading the existing reviews I decided to give it a try. Veronica had an opening for today with a stylist that I remember reading good reviews on. An hour later I met with Sandy. She took the time to ask me about my hair and evaluate my needs and my hairs needs. After protein treatments and drying I am happy to report I have some curl revived. I don't expect to leave with my healthy curly hair but I left with hair that I believe is the beginning stages of restoration and rejuvenation. I decided to buy the product line they used to continue the curl treatments. After about a month of use I will be sure to provide another update as to the results. Thank you Sandy for a really great experience. Sometimes we overthink going to new places and trusting new people but you made this experience an enjoyable one and I will be back soon.

I'm really disappointed with my experience at Haute Headz. I was excited to try a new stylist after…read moreseeing her work on IG (Avery) and was prepared to spend more than I normally would, but I walked out feeling frustrated and like I didn't get what I paid for--especially at a $300 price point. The appointment started off uncomfortably when the stylist next to me overheard what I do for a living (title insurance) and commented that I work in "legalized extortion." Not only was this wildly inappropriate, it made me feel awkward and judged right from the start. I had a thorough consultation with my stylist and we agreed that to achieve the look I wanted--light ends contrasting with a deeper base--I'd need a full lightening service rather than the partial that was originally quoted. I agreed to the upcharge with the expectation that I'd get the desired result. Unfortunately, that's not what I got. Instead of a smooth, dimensional color, I ended up with chunky highlights, a grown-out root look, and ends that are still noticeably darker than the base. It looks like a rushed job and not at all the intentional contrast we discussed. To make things worse, there are two very obvious bright white spots at my hairline where toner was completely missed. I brought this up when I got home and noticed it (Avery really should have caught them when washing or styling my hair, they're quite obvious) and the stylist did offer to fix it, but her availability didn't line up with mine. I explained that I couldn't take another hour and a half off work to come in during the week, given the 30+ minute drive each way, which she knows because we live near each other. Rather than showing understanding, she got defensive and told me it wouldn't take long and that I should reach out to the salon owner if I had further concerns. The one bright spot in all this (well, other than the 2 in my hairline) is that the haircut turned out well, which is the only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one. But overall, this was a frustrating experience with results I'm unhappy with and a lack of professionalism I didn't expect from a salon at this price point. I won't be returning.

Now to clarify, this rating isn't for the whole salon, just ANDREA. You can judge the photos for…read moreyourself but here is some back story. I have been to this salon three times before. Once with Tara(amazing) and twice with Andrea. The first time turned out fine but the second time was a complete nightmare. To preface, I only get my hair done every 9 months and try to get natural highlights so when it grows out there isn't a huge difference. This has never been a problem before until this past visit. To start, the highlights were extremely rushed and put in in less than 40 minutes (for my whole head) and then she let me process for over an HOUR + heat. My hair is thin and never has taken that long but she was cutting another clients hair that entire time so she didn't come check on me until she was completely done with the other lady. I had a feeling they were not going to be what I wanted but I waited for the complete look. I expressed my concerns before paying, asking if she could tone them down and that isn't what I wanted. The highlights also only really sat at the top of my hair and just stop half way down my hair(even though i was doing my whole head). Her response was that I just needed to give it time to get used to the change, so I tried. After getting multiple second opinions I came to the conclusion that I wasn't just in my head and she actually did a horrible job. I reached out to her as politely as I could after nonstop anxiety and stress over my hair and I attached her responses below. Not a single apology and only blaming me for her mistakes. In addition she continued to make empty promises of fixing my hair even though she was telling me her plans of being out of town for the extended holiday weekend (meaning she actually wouldn't be in town). I also told her about my plans of going out of town as well so even if she did return into town, I wouldn't be there and that's why I wanted my hair fixed before I left. Before reviewing the images in the text chat only the very first image is from this most recent visit. The other photos are from 9 months prior and similar to what I was going for just with the preference of staying a little darker(which obviously did not happen). the attachments to this review are the photos after the most recent visit.

Hair Tease Studio (and Roberta specifically) saved my hair!…read more I'm new to Jacksonville from Los Angeles, and any woman knows that finding a person you trust to do your hair is challenging. Once you find someone good, you tend to stay for life. Thanks to Hair Tease putting a Groupon offer up in the area, I found Roberta. I looked up Google, FB, Groupon and Yelp reviews (all great reviews) and decided to try them out. Prices were reasonable, location close enough to me, with easy parking. And the great reviews were spot on, especially the previous yelp one about the rescue of the blonde! Oh my - Roberta - The woman can do hair! I needed someone to rescue my blonde highlights from the harsh beach salt air and harsh mineral Jax water. Roberta takes time to evaluate and set up a treatment plan for your hair. And it's worth it! (See my pic) It was one of my first ventures outside the house as the pandemic became more manageable in Jax. This quaint, woman-owned salon is a gem hidden inside a tucked away strip mall off Beach. It's sweetly decorated with antique mirrors and frames and reposed furniture (thanks again to Roberta's great eye for decor and talent for furniture painting). There are 4-5 stylists not all in on the same days/hours, and each works independently. They have coffee and water and southern hospitality. Roberta also sells great salon hair products at low to no mark up. She also adapted her schedule to accommodate my schedule between her fishing trips. She's funny as hell with her wisdom, sayings, and local tips. I even found a wonderful dentist and landscape / garden supply thanks to her recommendations. I've been to her regularly over the last year and she is consistent, pampers your hair, shares her wisdom of biscuits, local Jax, plants and landscaping (her original career) with kindness and generosity. I've even discovered she cares for her long term elderly clients with dignity- honoring their restricted budget with reasonable prices and helping them feel beautifully quaffed. So sweet. Needless to say, I highly recommend Hair Tease Studio!

I have followed her from the previous salon because she's someone who really masters her craft. She listens to what I want but always has a helpful suggestion that I always end up grateful for. With someone as indecisive as myself she makes it easy to achieve the look and feel I want but cannot always express so simply. Whether I'm in for a simple trim or a complete transformation including length and color, she makes sure I leave happy and with increased knowledge as to what products she recommends and how to style and keep my locks healthy and looking fabulous. It's always been a challenge to maintain my hair as it's so easy to whip out the old faithful bun routine, but with her help I now love getting into her chair and have had fun experimenting with different hairstyles and techniques utilizing her guidance and expertise. I've recommended her to my friends and family, and those who have taken my word left the salon more than satisfied with the results. As long as Ashley remains in Jax, I shall be her faithful client! Thank you Ash for teaching me that hair care doesn't have to be daunting and stressful and for making every visit not only a fun one full of laughs but also a learning experience!! I will be sure to continue recommending you specifically to anyone looking for a hair stylist. As for the salon itself, the staff is friendly and helpful and the coffee they serve definitely gets me through those morning appointments I definitely appreciate. From what I have seen, there's talent in the salon with varying styles and techniques but the outcomes make for happy comfortable clients.
