Quite possibly my favorite brunch spot in Vancouver! There's just something about the pancakes here... Pro tip: check in for a free glass of OJ! I've been to the location on Robson which is now closed, but it was my first time at this location. I came with 2 other friends on Sunday morning around 11:15. We were quoted a 30 minute wait but it turned out to be more like 15, which wasn't too bad. There's indoor seating but also a large outdoor patio with great views of the water. Unfortunately the weather was dreary the day we came with drizzles, so only a handful of the outdoor tables were occupied. This was my first time at this location, but I've been to their other location on Robson (now closed), so I was familiar with the menu. They offer traditional brunch dishes such as omelettes and benedicts as well, but I was here for the pannekoeken. I went with a custom savory pancake with ham, mushroom, and 2 eggs ($15.25). For those that aren't familiar with pannekoeken, they're a large thin pancake roughly 12 inches in diameter. Depending on what toppings you choose, they can put them on top (such as eggs) or mixed into the batter (such as the ham and mushroom). I love how soft and chewy the pannekoeken is. They put a generous amount of toppings inside too so there was something in every bite. The pancake itself is pretty big and I had trouble finishing it, so I took half to go. It heats up well even after being refrigerated, so I was able to enjoy another half of the pancake the next day :) I get random cravings for the pannekoeken here, so I'll definitely be back! read more

Was up early in the morning and decided to go out for a good breakfast. I'd yelp'd possible places and DD came up.....gosh, it'd been years since I'd been to DD....back in the day I used to live close to their Robson location. I'd always enjoyed Dutch pancakes so definitely wanted to try it again....but, I also wanted to have a Dutch omelette breakfast......so, fortunately I was able to bring my father with me. I just love the location of this DD! Right at the waterfront of the Vancouver Convention Center at Canada Place....and right beside where I used to live in Coal Harbor, so the location brings back lots of fond memories. Anyway, this DD location is new, modern, colorful, and bright with huge windows giving you awesome waterfront views out to North and West Vancouver. There's mostly indoor seating, but also outdoor patio, which would be great on a wonderful day, but it seemed that many people like to sit outdoors despite how cold it was. So, I went ahead and ordered the Chicken Avocado Omelette....which comes with cubes of chicken, avocado, cheddar cheese, green peppers, tomatoes, and onions....we get a choice of toast (I had sourdough) and includes fruit or salad (I took the fruit), and hash browns....in the States they're known as country/home-style potatoes. My father ordered the Banana, Strawberries, and whip Dutch Pancake (or Pannekoeken).....ok, I intentionally ordered this for him. Everything was so good! ....and really hit the right spot this early in the morning. I really have no complaints about the food....other than that I was so stuffed after finishing my breakfast, and then helped my father finish half of his pancake! My only complaint would be that service was so so so slow!....and it was not easy flagging someone down for some service. Ok, our server was really nice and did her best, so I don't really blame her, but this place is clearly short staffed during a very busy time! So I admit I have memories from my childhood of dutch pancakes with apple sauce, sausage and stroop on top that I can only relive here. But they do deliver it. The fresh squeezed juice is also good. I had been attending an event all week and never realized De Dutch existed right behind the convention center! On one of our last days in Vancouver, we orchestrated a giant group breakfast with over 10 people. SO luckily, their private banquet room was available at the exact time we checked-in with the hostess! We took our seats, and our waitress introduced herself. She was so positive and service-oriented. I think her name was Mina. It took me so long to peruse the menu and decide what I wanted. Too many options! Ultimately, I went with the Boer's Breakfast, which contains two eggs, DeBakon, ham, sausage, toast, pannekoek, and hash browns. The photo looked so daunting, but after a long morning of work, I felt it was time to go all-in. Such a tasty combination of food. No regrets. Would highly recommend this feast filled with variety. I wonder if we could have reserved the room in advance, because the arrangement couldn't have worked out more perfectly. Our breakfast was also a deliberation meeting, so others at the convention weren't supposed to hear us. The private room had doors, so we kept those closed while making decisions. The waitress respected that as well. At the end of the meal, Mina brought us all separate checks because she already knew that's how we wanted to pay. Waitress was rude, unfriendly and overall just terrible. She came to our table a total of 4 times and we had to ask other servers for items she forgot and even the bill. We finished our meal and sat there with dirty plates for 20 minutes before another server came over and cleared them for us (the 20 min we were sitting there we were trying to catch our servers attention to get the bill). Waited another 5 minutes and still couldn't find our server so we asked another server for our bill. I watched her go and talk to our server in the kitchen (which I'm assuming was to tell her we wanted our bill) but despite this it was another 20 minutes until she came with our bill. Not sure who trained this incompetence but 45 minutes waiting for the freaking bill is absurd. When she did come with it I expressed how long we had to wait and all she said was "okay" - no apology or anything. She never introduced herself but the name on the bill was "Lida". Overall the food was pretty good and the location is amazing. Unfortunately the service ruined the experience. read more

The fruits though we're the disappointing point. They were obviously dry and not fresh. Having a table sign boasting how fresh their items are, this was a turn off. Espresso My single shot of espresso was good but it came in a dirty cup. I flipped the cup around since I am a rightie to find dry stain on the other side and it was dry to the touch so it's not done at this pour. Things happen im sure but I just happen to catch it. I packed my toast and it came it's not quite nice reusable bag. A good breakfast place in Vancouver. I enjoyed the pankoeke with sausage and eggs. It was my first time trying a Dutch meal. The menu was very clear and gave instruction on how to pronounce some of the Dutch names. My friend really liked that she could specify how much avocado she got. She opted for half and her omelette meal turned out to be way too much food for her. I didn't realize it was a chain, but it was really good. I would definitely go back and take my family. There was plenty of seating and we didn't wait for a table. Additionally, it was really close to some bike rental places that were great to ride all the way to Stanley park on the bike path. This place was recommended by my hotel and the atmosphere was great. Servers were attentive and kind. I just think they have some room for improvement on their food. I'll start with how much I loved their fresh pressed orange juice. That was delicious. I got the smoked salmon Benedict and I was not impressed. The egg yolk was hard, the Hollandaise sauce was bland. It was a bit odd how lacking in flavor it was. The salmon was the only good part but with the Hollandaise on it, the flavor disappeared some. Then I tried the potatoes. These looked delicious and smelled great. Unfortunately they weren't cooked. It was like biting a raw onion. The eggs benedict dish I ordered was just ever so slightly overcooked and the whole dish that had a little too polished feel to it. Add to that an overworked server who forgot (twice!) to refill my coffee and it was just an ok experience. If you're at the convention center though, it's a nice place to have. I'm visiting Vancouver for a few days and stopped into De Dutch with my family. We all had high expectations, looking forward to pancakes, waffles etc. Sadly before we were even sat the hostess rudely pointed at a table instead of walking us to the table and handing us a menu. We sat for 10 minutes before we even were given a menu. This was frustrating, but we still tried to stay patient. The coffee was horrible, the latte was essentially just milk, and the regular coffee was colored water and could not drink it...It's quite sad considering the restaurant was busy and relatively nice. The food and service was the real issue. Our waitress was chewing gum the whole time which we didn't find very professional. We ordered a denver omelette which also was sent back due to it being very burnt. The pancakes which are their signature was also burnt. The whole experience sucked and it is way to expensive for the atmosphere, food, and service. Eat somewhere else! read more

Its a modern looking De Dutch, very new so new I had to add it to yelp. I had ordered the french toast with fruit not a big of fan pancakes. The french tst was ok kinda dry and the fruit was the pre-made frozen berries, it was a pretty good portion for over 10$. My friend ordered a buckwheat pancake with bananas and nuts. They have a gluten free menu which I found very accommodating. Service was ok, we came in at about 9am on a Monday morning, people started to come in after we were seated. Wait for food wasnt too bad, but ones we got our food our server didnt come back till she dropped off the bill. I've spent a few late Sunday mornings holding my head in my hands after a big night out. The servers are pretty helpful and there never seems to be that much of a wait if it's busy. They have all the breakfast faves like big pancakes, skillet scrambles, benedicts etc. everything is tasty. Last weekend, my sister and I wanted to have breakfast before checking out the Gluten Free Expo, and so were in search of a restaurant that had gluten free items. Because De Dutch is known for pancakes (or rather, "pannekoeken"), it's not a restaurant that comes to mind when I think "gluten free". But surprisingly, De Dutch offers gluten free items, and it was located near the convention center where the expo was taking place, so perfect! Of course there is a lot on the menu that we couldn't eat, but they offer gluten free pannekoeken, and at no extra charge. (I am bloody fed up with having to pay several dollars more for fucking gluten free items at restaurants.) The server was really patient with answering our questions about which menu items were gluten free, and she said that the restaurant had ordered extra gluten free pannekoeken for that weekend because of the Gluten Free Expo. It's nice that they are making an effort to be gluten aware, and as someone with celiac, I really appreciate it. Also, as an avid Yelper, I checked in to De Dutch and got a free orange juice! I came here with my family on a weekday. We ordered the breakfast crepes and Dutch croquettes with frites. The Dutch croquettes came with two tiny croquettes, and they were soggy. The frites were just average fries, but came with a special dipping sauce. The breakfast crepe was very tasty, and it is unlike anything I have eaten. It came with tomatoes, ham, and mushrooms and was topped with an egg. We also used the yelp check in for the free orange juice (which retailed about $6 I believe).
