I was planning to have a Dutch pancake, but saw uitsmijters on the menu. It's generally two pieces of bread, not toast(usually white bread in traditional uitsmijters). I had a choice so I picked brown bread. Then there are pieces of ham, Dutch cheese, melted, with fried eggs on top. I was offered sunny side up or over easy. Today I picked over easy eggs. It's a delightful and tasty dish, and yes, it's eaten with a knife and fork; it is not meant to become an egg, ham and cheese sandwich.
Tried out this cute Dutch breakfast spot in Vancouver today. The staff and waitress were super friendly. I ordered the chicken and avocado omelet and my husband ordered the Dutch hash panckeon. Both tasted amazing and presentation was great. I also got the Bailey coffee which was also amazing. I highly recommend this breakfast spot.
This is a great place for breakfast. It is located next to the harbor and offers great views while you dine. We arrived late morning on a Sunday and we had no wait. The hostess seated us immediately. The server was a bit slow in taking out drink orders but that was quickly remedied and our meal was very timely thereafter. Once our order was taken, it was only minutes later our breakfast was served. I ordered the meat lovers omelette and my wife ordered a pannenkoeken The omelette had plenty of toppings. The omelette came with seasoned hashbrowns or what I would call small nuggets. Good flavors but a bit heavy on the sage. The sour dough bread was very good and I chose the fruit cup, it included bananas which I have never received in my sides of fruit cups in the States. The pannenkoeken was served as a large thin pancake looking item with all ingredients on the side. The server instructed my wife the proper way to eat is to add all ingredients to center and roll like crepes . That is what she did and it tasted great. Fun location with a great view of the seaplane terminal with lots of take offs and landings. Good food, nice atmosphere and perfect location on the harbor.

Not overly hungry so went a little lighter. The pea soup was tasty as was the salad. Although I thought it was a bit over priced based on portion size. The inside had an attractive design. There was seating outside as well. Service was good, although I thought the food took slightly longer than expected.
Had such a good experience last time and wanted to return. However this past Saturday was below expectations. The good: clean interiors and beautiful views of the North Shore Mountains and Vancouver Harbour. Can be busy so having Open Table to book took the stress off. Was seated at exactly our reservation time. The bad: we had to ask for cutlery and teaspoons for our coffee. At 11:15am our food had not arrived while two other tables who sat down 5-10mins after us had their food served. We inquired and was told the eggs had to take a longer time which was not true as the other table also had eggs on their plates. We never receive an apology or even something to make up for their mistake. If our order was missed, please tell me the truth and I'll be more forgiving. Been along time fan of De Dutch but this experience will make me hold coming back anytime soon. To the manager, please do better with training and timing.
Visiting Vancouver for a couple of days. Decided to try out the breakfast food here. It's right on the water and has a terrific view of the mountains. There are tall floor to ceiling windows facing the water so you get plenty of natural light. We were a party of 6, and they placed us at a hightop table that has a bench on one side, and taller stools on the other. It was a little awkward for most people. Those on the bench, were not able to place their feet on floor, and those of us on the stools, did not find them comfortable. Got served right away with waters and menu. The hot teas and coffees came out soon after. They have a large selection of their specialty Pannekoeken. They very from simple cakes to skillet versions. You can roll them up, or eat them like a regular flat cake. They are large and cost $19 - $26 dollar. You can get a half size but the prices is only $3 less. My partner and I ended getting banana/walnut version. It was good, but not great. A little too thin for my liking. The pieces of walnuts and banansa were protruding out the top. (but that's how they are supposed to be). Service was excellent. Super friendly and attentive. I felt it was a bit pricey for the amount of food you got. Probably not a place that we would likely come back to.
We stopped here for breakfast after watching the water planes take off and land. The decor and atmosphere is so cute and all of the employees were very nice. They had gluten free options for pancakes!! The fresh squeezed OJ was also amazing. Very filling meal.
Belly is stuffed and absolutely packed with dutch pancake goodness. Burgers for breakfast? Who can say no!

A very cute brunch place with your girlfriends. I usually get their hash pannekeok and freshly squeezed orange juice. The pancakes are so filling and big so you can definitely share this with a friend. The food comes out quickly and service is an A+!
I'm shocked to see so many low reviews for this place. I thought it was unique and although pricey, it was good and the presentation was impressive. We enjoyed our breakfast when we visited back in July '25 and our service was top notch. I see many complaints about slow service but that wasn't our experience. The wait for a table was long but that's expected for good breakfast places but once we got the table we didn't feel like we waited too long to be served. Those who know me well know I have a serious sweet tooth! Once in a while, I treat myself to a heartfelt Dutch pancake purely for indulgence. Having lived in Amsterdam for nearly nine years, I'm quite familiar with traditional pannenkoeken -- which are a far cry from the thick, round, syrup-drenched pancakes so popular in North America. (No wonder obesity rates are what they are over there!) Thankfully, the pancakes at De Dutch stay true to the authentic Dutch style. After the closure of their West 2nd and Cambie location a couple of years ago, only two branches remain in Vancouver. I now visit the Coal Harbour spot, which happens to be conveniently close to home. I've tried almost all of their classics -- Peach Melba and Triberries have long been my favourites. But today, I decided to try something new: the Caramel Apple & Whipped Cream pancake. Be aware that the prices on their website aren't up to date -- mine came to $21.29. I left $25 cash on the table, and honestly, it was worth every penny. No extra syrup needed -- the pancake was perfectly sweet on its own. This location closes early in the afternoon, so be sure to check their hours before you go. On a sunny day, I love sitting outside -- there's nothing better than enjoying a delicious pancake while watching the world go by, with a gentle sea breeze in the air. Life is sweet. Especially with pancakes. Final Verdict: (5/5)
Strolling around in Vancouver I discovered this restaurant and being Dutch I just had to go. It gives you a Dutch vibe with almost everything in orange. Some maps of Amsterdam and Rotterdam and of the man that started this restaurant, Bodegraven. I decided to go for a mix between Dutch and Canadian cuisine, the Boer pannenkoek. A large Dutch style pancake at the bottom, on top 2 fried eggs (in my case easy over), ham, bratwurst, bacon and hash browns. It came with a cup of Hollandaise sauce. What a wonderful breakfast! Very tasty and the sauce improved every bite. Of course I had coffee with it. The cream comes in a mini version of a milk can. read more

We were here coincidentally during a world cup game and the vibes were great. Service was even better. The host was very welcoming and our server was attentive and friendly. This location came highly recommended and did not disappoint. We had the best breakfast and it barely fit on the table. The portions are served on a huge Dutch pancake. The real maple syrup is $4 extra but worth it. They also have delicious alcohol mimosas and coffees. read more

On the water No wait clean restaurant and great view. Very large menu more for breakfast than lunch. Service molasses runs faster and yet we were the only two in the restaurant. I ordered a burger which was grilled to no flavor only took 30 minutes to make. To make it moist that added enough mayo to make a tuna salad. Fries were not crisp. My wife had The Hash served on top of a pancake the pancake was good the has could use work. Come for the view not for the food read more

One thing I love about being in the west coast is that I get to enjoy breakfast. It's something that I don't really eat a lot because of my Intermittent Fast Fast. So I pull up the app on my Samsung and found this spot not too far from my hotel. Scenic walk towards the water and I have arrived. I ordered the Boer Pancake Breakfast option. 3 meats, potatoes and two sunny side up eggs. Beautiful presentation. Seasoned perfectly and I had a great time smashing. I love a good breakfast and would recommend it to someone who's wanting something substantial. The place isn't too hard to find. Setting is very nice and open and the host was very welcoming. The service was sort of laggy. The table right next to me got to order first even though I was seated before them. My food arrived and I had to tell the runner that I was still waiting for my fizzy water. Other than that everything was good to go. Thank you so much for reading my review. This was our first time dining at the Vancouver Convention Centre location of De Dutch but I think it might be my favourite location now, so I sure hope that it won't be our last time dining there! In all honesty, the food is just as good at any other location of De Dutch but I just love the picturesque setting of this one. With its huge windows overlooking the harbor...How could it not be my favourite? My two meat eaters both decided to go for hamburgers. One had hamburger with fries, and the other had hamburger with hashbrowns. I was the only one who ordered the food that De Dutch is actually known for, which is their Dutch Pannekoek. I ordered the Vegetarian Pannekoek. In the past I've ordered this same Pannekoek with a sunny side up egg on top but I've been trying to cut back on eggs for awhile now, so I just ordered it as it was on the menu. Mmmmm...so yummy and satisfying, and even though I do love the taste of a sunny side up egg, I really didn't miss the egg at all. The Pannekoek held up very well on its own. It had been years since I last ate at De Dutch Pannekoek House & I didn't miss it. I was really hesitant in trying it this morning but it came recommended by a trusted local hotel porter. He was spot on! Are you hesitant to walk into a restaurant that has signage plasted on the door - 'Hiring Cooks' ... yikes!?! I know in today's pandemic storm many companies are desperate for workers. However, restaurants hiring cooks always unnerves me a bit. Will the food be any good is the first thing that comes to mind!? Secondly is it going to be the local high school kids desparately hired as cooks, who can't even feed themselves let alone cook my food, playing around in the kitchen!? It was a busy morning but we got seated in 10mins. This location has been updated compared to the last DDPH I ate at. Very cool decor & colour scheme. However, service although friendly, was quite a bit slow. Then came the food & my heart was a bliss. Very impressed was I - presentation, taste, portion ... all on point! I was quite delighted with the taste of my delicious Pannekoek! What makes this location a hit ... the views of Vancouver Harbour, Stanley Park & the North Shore! Bedankt! read more

Had we found De Dutch earlier during our time in Vancouver, we probably would have dined there more than once. Beautiful view sitting outside overlooking the harbor. Appreciated the gluten free options. My non-gluten free eater said the GF tasted very good. The texture was just a little different than the regular Pannekoeken and thinner. Ordered the specialty #5 Fresh Apple, Onion & Debakon Pannekoeken. I was surprised all the ingredients were layed on top of the Pannekoeken. I was expecting them to be mixed in, though it was tasty as is. The Debakon was overcooked on the Pannekoeken. The side of Debakon was very good though. The #6 Banana & Walnut Pannekoeken Specialty came with the bananas and walnuts mixed in. Both Pannekoekens were enjoyed. It is a lot of food, so you shouldn't walk away hungry. The tea options were nice too. We'll be back if we return to Vancouver. read more

I loved this restaurant, I went here a while ago and everything was great! The view from our seat looking out into the harbor was incredible. The French toast I had was amazing too with the apples. Bacon was nice and crispy. Service was amazing, our server was super friendly and easy to get along. I would highly recommend this place for a breakfast/brunch spot. read more

Honestly the joint is kinda a vibe tho and the pancake menu had one of the boujee-est selections. Just btw, Vancouver, I appreciate how much y'all care about the environment, but your paper straws taste like compressed sawdust. But anyways.. the service was good, but the food was pretty mid overall. Unfortunately, given the lack of delicious, I cannot give this joint the stamp of slay. PERIOD. read more
