I went to the store today to buy a few items. As I was ready to check out, the assistant Manager Rose or Rosa informed me that she did not give me a penny in change because she did not have any change in pennies. I was fine with that however when my daughter paid for her items, the total was $12.11 and she only gave her $12.10 as a way of using the 1 penny that was not given to me. This seemed to upset the assistant manager Rose and laughed as she called over the security guard as a way to "intimidate me." The security guard was kind enough to pull out some change out of his own wallet which only seemed to upset Rose more and muffled "This is Ridiculous." After I talked to the guard, he apologized and assured that I was in the right. I am leaving this review not because I am upset about the change but because I am upset of the way that the assistent Manager Rose Handled this. This is the 3rd time that I go to the store and am treated with poor service. read more

I am not a big fan of DD's Discounts because the things they sell here is very terrible. I had great traumatic experiences shopping here only to find some of the shoes in very poor quality. There seems to be a lot of knock off items here which is not very nice. Kids deserve quality things to wear and play with. Cmon y'all. I understand it's all one company that doesn't excuse the fact shoddy things are sold here. I am not wasting genuine time browsing here for nothing. This store is a mess. You can find great discounts here but idk why they always only have one person working the register? The folks behind the register also look like they hate their jobs. They don't smile, say hi, thank you or bye to you. I don't really care though because all I want to do is pay and leave. They also ring you up really slowly and the line moves at snail pace. Some times it's not worth the wait and I end up putting the item away and leaving the store. I've found great priced shoes, laundry hamper and my new dish rack here. I love this store. I shop here occasionally ater having lunch nearby at Zeni Ethiopian Restaurant. I've found some incredible deals: * Organic cotton king sheet set (250 thread count, eco-friendly dyes) for $13.99 - not super soft, but still a deal's a deal. * Spiderman cup, plate, and bowl set for about $4 I saw Spiderman and Diego backpacks, toys, clothing, and all kinds of crap that kids like. Most of the sheets aren't organic, and all are reasonably priced. Some are softer than others. This is a great place to go if you need stuff, but are on a budget. Not my favorite DD's Discounts store because it seems to be more like a Goodwill than a normal never used store (don't know why I get that feeling when visiting there). Still, there is always some mega deal to get and remember that you can get some hidden items for just $0.49 cents, which makes the search more fun. Sometimes I just go to this store for the sake of it, I am driving around, see it, gotta go! I don't see, though, the critics to the security people, they are super friendly and salute you every time you enter and leave, very friendly. In general is a great store to find cheap things, do not expect craftmanship quality and just enjoy the good deals! read more

Although not as organized as some of the other discount retailers, DD's discounts is offers some great buys! I was there for the first time today (by a friend's recommendation) and was able to pick-up a nice sundress, some socks and a few items for the house. The sheets were the best buy but they also had Nine West heels for less than 10$. They didn't fit... dang it! They didn't have much in the men's section that wasn't 'urban style' wear. Haha. Oh well. I'm giving them 4 stars instead of my initial 3 thought cause the people that work there are so friendly! read more

Indeed there are better stores that have more options, however if you are looking for something inexpensive then you came to the right place. DD's Discount does not have a lot of options available and sizes are minimal depending on the season. Though you see a lot of clothing on the rack, they are unorganized and not what I would normally wear. I came in to look for a zip up jacket to wear to work. I deal with chemicals and other debris so technically any inexpensive zip up will do. There were only two zip up jacket available in the women section, but luckily one of them was exactly what I was looking for. Despite the limited selection, I also noticed that the store itself is quite unorganized. It felt as if someone have those thrown items on the rack without checking the sizes. They definitely don't have quality clothing like Ross or Marshall. DD's Discount is more like a thrift store in my opinion. You are lucky if you are able to find something to purchase. Customer service was fine, there was a little wait, but my cashier was very kind and quick. read more

Not the most pleasant place to shop -- the security guards are unapologetically in your face and go out of your way to make sure you know they're watching. (I came in when one was not right at the door and he made a point of loudly 'welcoming' me to DD's even after I had gone down a side aisle.) You'll also be asked to check in any other bags you have besides your purse. And almost every time I've come, there have been screaming or running children in the store, although that's probably not the store's fault. However, if you like browsing and have no particular agenda -- because you really can't ever go into a discount store with a definite idea of what you need -- DD's is fun. Much of the clothing and housewares are cheap, a grade lower than Ross, but at least some of their stock is closeouts of reasonably high quality stuff. Occasionally there are gems. I've found Oneida flatware and decent rugs, and recently, their activewear section has turned up some nice stuff by good brands (90 Degrees, Marika, Balance Collection) for ridiculously cheap (under $10). I come out empty handed half the time, but pretty happy the other half. If you enjoy the hunt, this is a fun occasional stop to make. read more

This is a cheap-o clothing and housewares store, like Ross. I'm not into shopping, so this type of store - where you have to browse a lot to find the hidden treasures - is not my taste. But I was certainly able to find a last minute outfit here for my toddler when her pants were wet and I didn't have a spare. And it was absurdly inexpensive. So if you like shopping at low end stores, you will probably love DD's. If you have to wait for a table at Zeni or Tanto, you might as well wander in. I saw some velvet hangers supposedly on sale for $5.99 for 10. They are $15 for 50 at Costco. I'd rather go to Costco. I have bought some items more so for the home than anything else. The clothes are a joke. Very cheap because they are cheaply made. These are clothes that not even Ross can sell. Maybe good for Halloween and disposable clothing but not much else. This place is just messy sometimes. People just don't seem to care here and customer service is non-existent. Also, they don't let you return sunglasses but no one tells you that when you buy them. I love DD's! Where else can a woman get a cute top for 8 bucks, a pair of Apple Bottom jeans for 15 bucks and maybe a cute pair of shoes for another 5 bucks or so? Yeah, you do have to search the racks of ugly clothes that no one wanted, but when you find that oh so adorable top you just have to have for less than 10 bucks you feel elated. It's like the gates of Heaven opened up and you hear angels singing and playing harps. DD's is sorta like Ross. In fact, I believe they are sister stores. Some days they have lots of great finds, other days, its straight up crap. I have gotten myself a pair of Baby Phat jeans, Apple Bottom Jeans, Baby Phat tops and purses and a Dereon purse. They were all less than 20 bucks. My favorite DD's was in Fremont but that one closed down. I shop at this one and the one in Sunnyvale on El Camino by In n Out Burger. Only downside of buying clothes here, they don't last long. But like the saying goes, you get what you pay for. But do you really expect a shirt you paid 5 bucks for last a lifetime? read more

I love shopping at DD's they have awesome prices on all their stuff. The store is pretty neat compare to other stores. Al tough this particular store had the worse customer service. I spend a lot of money at DD's and specially at this location since its near my work. I came in on a weekend with my kids. My daughter needed to use the restroom. They refused to let my 4 year daughter use the restroom. The lady at the changing room said NO PUBLIC RESTROOMS. We were greeted by a friendly employee and I thought the store was MUCH better organized than the nearby Ross location. The floor was clean, there weren't stacks of disorganized junk everywhere. The checker wasn't friendly, but she wasn't rude either. the Pros: Wow, it's cheap! Scored a Sharks jersey for $14.99 and a pair of pajamas for about $8.50. They have a wide variety of merchandise packed in there, similar to Ross, but even cheaper. The Cons: The aisles are VERY narrow near the housewares / knick-knacks, if you're wheeling a cart a second person will have trouble getting by. The clothes seemed about a season behind - there were tons of short sleeve shirts, despite the fact that it was almost December. My wife went in to DD's Discounts to purchase some floor mats. On entering the store, the cashier snaps that you can't carry your own empty bag into the store. So my wife hands her the bag, which she tags and stores it away. She went ahead and found some oversized floor mats, which she put in her cart, paid, got her bag back and proceeded to exit the store. When the cashier snaps again, you cannot take the shopping cart outside to the car park! What, you can't take the shopping carts to your car? Yes, she snaps, it's our store policy. What a stupid policy I tell you. So she and her friend had to carry the oversized mats out to the car (store does not provide bags nor allow carts out the door). Well, I took another trip to the store yesterday evening (in the hopes of de-stressing from the challenging day I'd had at work), and shopped around for about 1 1/2 hours. I was disappointed to see that the typical ghetto low-life types had managed to sully the store to the point where it looked like an indoor flea market stall. I picked certain things out and stood in line. First of all, a prune-faced old "M" lady snapped, "Are you in line?" And when I nodded, huffily went to stand behind me. Then, after waiting in line for 30 minutes (by the way, the line had extended to halfway across the store because there were only 3 old, slow-ass clerks working the registers), the security guy (whose only job seemed to be to make sure no one took the carts out) made us split the line up so that I was forced to go in the slower line! Although I didn't want to move from my place (I was about 4 people from the register), he forced me to move. 10 minutes later, I am still waiting in line and the line I USED to be in started moving faster. Finally fed up, I call out, "Dude! Dude! Hey, GUY!" He comes over. "Hey man, I've been waiting for more than 30 minutes, and now THAT line is moving, after you move me to THIS line. This is totally unacceptable. THEY were BEHIND ME. Now they're ahead? Come on man, this is ridiculous. I have places to go. I have a Warriors game to go to!" Instead of trying to assuage the situation, he asks me who the Warriors are playing and if I'm going to the game.. WTF? "Yeah," I spat back, "I was SUPPOSED to go to the game, but not NOW." He then throws it back at me, "Then why didn't you SAY something?" Then he tells me that I can move back to the original line I was in, but hearing this, the fucking old "M" biddy behind me (and the "M" couple behind HER) jumps ahead before I have a chance to go back. So, as I wait EVEN LONGER, the two parties that were behind begin their checkout process. The "security" guy does nothing about it, just shrugs his shoulders and goes back to his post. I wait another 10 minutes. At this point, I am FUMING. I noticed that the clerks started moving EXTRA SLOW since I'd moved up to the registers. Finally, at about 8pm (keep in mind that I'd been in line since 7:10pm), I stalked past the register and exited the store with a loud "FUCK!" Okay, so a year ago, this place was a great find. Now that all of the (young and old) fucking ghetto-ass motherfuckers have found it, I wouldn't go back to this place if you paid me. I'd seen several of these stores pop up in recent weeks, and of course, being the Extreme Deal Hunter that I am, the word "discount" always catches my eye. I imagined it to be something akin to Big Lots! or Dollar Tree Store, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it was more like Ross in terms of set-up and merchandise. And no wonder -- apparently the bigwigs at Ross have decided to open up a new franchise of discount stores, "designed for households with annual incomes of $30,000 to $40,000 -- below the $50,000 to $60,000 typical for customers of Ross Dress for Less stores." I don't know if any of you have made similar discoveries, but in the recent years, I've found that Ross, Marshall's and TJ Maxx's prices have steadily skyrocketed, to the level of the regular department stores, whose prices they are supposedly trying to beat. Anyway, I ended up purchasing a cute "Look, the world NEEDS Drama Queens" Pac-Sun t-shirt for $3, some other tops and sweaters for $5.49, and a hot-pink Rampage bra-and-thong set for $4.99! I was in bargain hunter's heaven. As I piled clothes and household items into my bright-yellow cart, I thought to myself, "I am SO gonna YELP this tomorrow." DD's frequently discounts their items.... I had to buy a lot of clothes for my cousins in the Philippines (like 8 female cousins who wanna dress like Americans, haha). I came to this DD's last week. I was browsing thru the clearance rack and found A LOT of shirts for .49 cents!!! Omg, I couldn't believe it! I even asked the cashier if this was right (and yes, the clothes were nice too; I tried them on myself). So I bought 10 shirts for under $5 Crazy! Also, when I'm babysitting my nephew, I take him here and let him get whatever he wants!!! Kids clothes is soo cheap! And the home section is crazy cheap too... I saw a king size comforter for $19.99 (and it was a nice one too). The only bad thing is that the lines at the registers are always long!! And thats at any location. Every time I come here I end up finding something to buy. Whether it be a top, leggings, a Marilyn Monroe shot glass set, car mats, socks ... I find something and most of the time the items are under $12. The quality has been pretty good so far, no complaints yet. Ive wore a few items from here, added my own cute accessories and have been ready for a night out, looking better than a lot of people who tried super hard and spent much more on their outfits. I don't like the Loss Prevention ppl looking @ me (or is it everyone that feels this way?) like a thief. I am not going to steal a $5 tank top when I have more than enough money to buy it. I was tempted for a very long time to see what was up here...I delayed and delayed until one day I couldn't take it anymore....I walked up and even hesitated as I saw that the windows were tinted so dark you couldn't see through them (bad sign)...anyway, didn't stop me....I walked in a almost immediately walked right back out - yikes! This is my go-to place to pick up any kind of baking pan. I've gotten countless glass bakeware and even a cupcake holder/transporter. Lines can get a little long and slow and employees REALLLLY don't care but its cheap and works just as well as expensive bakeware so it can be overlooked. read more
