Never, ever again. I went in for a regular manicure and pedicure and I left with my cuticles cut up and BLEEDING. The technician appeared to be new, as the woman running the place seemed to be showing her where certain things were. I understand that somebody could make mistakes as a new technician but to cut my cuticles on so many fingers and brush it off with a quiet "sorry" when I started bleeding and complaining, it was just too much. What made things even worse was that I was charged for this service! I asked for a refund and they only discounted the manicure by 10 dollars! Just before leaving I asked the woman at the cashier (I believe she is the Manager) how long it would take for the pain to go away, and she said it would be gone by the time I got home. First, the nail tech, Mai, did not sanitize her tools. They were just sitting in a tray covered in skin and nail clippings -- GROSS. That was not acceptable, but she refused to get other tools, saying it was fine. I should have left then. My gel manicure took all of 12 minutes! Never had I ever had such a sloppy, low quality gel manicure. The shape of my nails is nice, but otherwise they're chipping and peeling off after only four days. I went to pay and they charged me $35, which was NOT the advertised price. They refused to honor the sign outside, saying it was wrong -- not ok. I have been to DC Nail Spa several times since they opened under new management. They are the best nail salon in Dupont at this price point, based on size, cleanliness and service. The salon is clean and well lit. There are refreshments and magazines availbale. They have a slightly smaller color selection than some other salons, but I am always able to find a color I like. The technicians are pleasant and professional. Thao is a particularly good technician. I have seen several individuals request Vivian, though I have never had her do my nails. I have had a positive experience each time I have gone. I have always gotten regular polish. One of my friends got gel polish, and her nails looked quite uneven and definitely needed another coat. She was very unhappy with the final product. Perhaps it was just the technician, but be on the look out for this. Bring your own flip flops! The staff here are all very professional and friendly and they take Covid precautions pretty seriously (temperature checks, hand washing upon arrival, sign in sheets, plexiglass, etc). The only reason I docked a star off is because I've noticed that sometimes they don't do the exact shape I want when shaping the nails, although that's a problem at many nails salons. I have been going to Molly for a year now. I changed to DC salon because my nails were weak from the previous salon's powder manicure procedure. Molly gives me a powder manicure, and yet my nails are the strongest they have been in years. Besides healthy nails, I have been able to be adventurous in color and designs. Molly shares various options I never would have considered, providing the latest in nail designs. I feel like I have my own manicurist and she remembers what I like. And she's a wonderful person that I enjoy talking to. I make appointments for powder manicures and regular pedicures and never have to wait more than 3 minutes. I usually go to Lynn or Thai but since they are both out on vacation , I had to go to Maya for a pedicure and Vivian for my SNS nail service. Today was the worst experience I've had at this salon and sadly will not returned after being a regular client for a year. As my nails were soaking in acetone during my pedicure (as usual during my appointments) Maya pulled my leg closer to her and the warm acetone spilled all over my lap, seeping into my pants and underwear. Spent 10 minutes in the salon restroom trying to clean up and most importantly make sure all the acetone was removed from causing any problems on my skin down there. An hour after pedicure, my clothes are stained noticeably and skin is irritated down there. I was still charged for the pedicure and received a condescending tone and response by Vivian the spill was not bad and there's nothing she can do, although I have been told she is the owner. I am greatly upset, uncomfortable and displeased with the lack of customer service. It's bad enough that every time I have an appointment , there is confusion. There's always an attempt to give me to another mail technician that i didn't request or a service is missing. But now I'm leaving the salon with acetone stained clothes and underwear, skin irritation and an overall annoyance at the condescending approach. I will be sharing my complaint on every social media platform since the owner refused to accommodate me for the mistake her employee made. I want to give a better Review but it wasn't a great experience and it certainly wasn't cheap. The person who worked on my nails took a while and was clearly attentive. But she cut me twice (and cut my friend just after me). My hands are drier than when I went in and my manicure could use another layer. It's pretty uneven.
