DB's Dino ribs
RN T.

We showed up hungry and left completely blown away! The BBQ was next level, but the real win--we came on a Sunday and were lucky enough to get the dino ribs . Let me tell you... massive, tender, and packed with flavor. Honestly, it was so good I completely forgot to take pictures until after we already devoured it . That's how you know it's legit. And the margaritas? So good--perfect way to top it all off. Terlingua has some serious gems, and this is definitely one of them! Don't pass up on this bbq very chill ambiance and excellent service!

Brisket taco, sausage taco, pork ribs

Came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Fair number of patrons but not too busy. Service was fast and friendly. I ordered a brisket taco, sausage taco, and a 1/4 lb of pork ribs The brisket was the biggest positive of my experience. Great marbling and smoky flavor, just from the brisket I see why they have such a strong reputation. The sausage was nothing to write home about. The pork ribs had a nice flavor to them even without the tasty hot bbq sauce, but they were pretty cold I will strongly advise against going the taco route if you are to visit. The portion for an $8 taco was astonishingly small, even if this were in the center of a big city, but for a spot in a literal ghost town that's a major ding. The prices by the pound for meat are pretty reasonable, and if you're going in a big enough group that's the move. Overall not my best experience, but I see why they have a strong reputation. Your options are limited in town, so if you know you're going to eat in Terlingua this is a good option, but I wouldn't come to town just for this on a Big Bend trip

Wonderful lady bartender who helped me pick out some items for my dinner my first night in Terlingua. Since they no longer offer something like a 2 meat and sides plate, she suggested a 1/4 brisket and 1/4 sausage, along with tater salad and beans. I ordered way too much food just for myself. Second time, I still ordered too much. Same thing but wo the beans this time. lol Coming from Houston where there is a restaurant in practically every corner, I have to say the BBQ was really delicious. The sausage wasn't fatty and both the brisket and sausage were tender. I don't eat a lot of red meats so I have to thank those animals that gave their life so that I could feed my body. Just saying...don't want to take it for granted. The restaurant is pretty casual and laid back so no dressing up needed. I had the food to-go and it didn't take more than 5 min even when there were 3 people ahead of me.

Sign on the road, but it's a little way away from the building

This place is DELICIOUS! Some of the best bbq I've had and I was born and raised in Texas. The brisket is to die for, the sausage is so good, and so is the pork ribs, beans, and potato salad. DB's may not look like much on the outside, but it's a must-stop if you're in the area! Plus, loading up on some protein is never a bad idea when you're hiking all day. I will add that everyone on staff was so sweet, there's plenty of seating, lots of beer, wine, and other drink options, and they have TVs in the main area where people were watching sports. We loved their food so much we came back again the day before we left to buy a bunch of BBQ to take home! Don't miss it!

I feel like people go to this place cause of lack of other options. The brisket was only fine and the service was so slow in comparison to most Texas bbq places I've tried. The venue is fun though and they had live music while we were there. Given that there are few places to eat in Terlingua I'll say it's a fine spot to check out if you're wanting bbq but not amazing on the grand scheme of things.

Solid choice for BBQ, lots of sauces to choose from. Good size portion of food and comes out sure quick.

Stopped in to try terlinguas mesquite fired BBQ after we got a recommendation from our canoe guide. Located right in town, DBs rustic iron bbq is a casual place with a bar and live music most nights. They have tables both inside and outside. The happy hour deals were great and service was fast. My turkey was pretty dry but was very tasty especially with the sauce. The tacos were flavorful, the Mac n cheese was quite standard, and the fries tasted like oil. It's a bit pricey in my opinion but I'd recommend them!!

moist brisket

It is easily the heartbeat of the area, offering a dining experience that perfectly captures the eclectic, rugged, and friendly spirit of West Texas. Be prepared this place is popular for a reason. Wait times can easily reach the two-hour mark, but don't let that deter you. The trick is to put your name in first, then immediately pivot to "vacation mode." Grab a drink and an appetizer from the bar and head outside. The porch and the surrounding area become a lively social hub where locals and tourists mix seamlessly. The atmosphere is what truly sets Starlight apart. While we were waiting for our table, a couple of locals claimed the large bench right outside and broke into a spontaneous, spirited rendition of The Jungle Book theme songs! It was pure magic. My kids were completely enthralled by the performance, which turned a long wait into one of the highlights of our trip. It gave my husband and me the perfect window to relax with our drinks and soak in the desert air. The food lived up to the hype of the setting: Smoked Brisket Queso: This is an absolute must-order. It's rich, smoky, and the perfect fuel for a Ghost Town evening. Prickly Pear Margarita: Vibrant, delicious, and refreshing it's the quintessential West Texas cocktail. The Main Course: We ordered a variety of kid-friendly items and the Brisket Tacos. While everything we ate was delicious, be aware that their famous Texas Mesquite Smoked Brisket is in high demand they had unfortunately run out by the time we were seated, so get there early if that's your primary goal! The Starlight Theater isn't just a restaurant; it's an event. Between the incredible live local interactions, the "only-in-Terlingua" scenery, and the solid food and drink, it is a 5-star experience. Just remember: arrive early, bring your patience, and keep an ear out for the music!

The Starlight is the "it" spot in Terlingua. An old school theatre turned into restaurant/…read morebar/music venue. The place doesn't open until 5 pm and on 3 separate days when I drove by at 4:30, there was a line to get in. On the 3rd day we decided to wait in said line. It moves fast. We ordered a few Boquillas Scorpion Margaritas to start. This is basically a normal margarita on the rocks but with a paper clip like mini scorpion placed on the side. This is named after the little art pieces found near the Boquillas area. Cool souvenir! We also got some chili as appetizers that was delicious. I wanted to order the chicken friend antelope as an entree but chickened out and got an antelope burger instead. It was great. I wanted to see some live music, but we ended up here on comedy night. Comedy night was fine, but I wanted to feel the vibe of the area and hear some honky tonk type music. So, if you go check the schedule for live music nights to get the whole experience.

We stopped in after a long day at Big Bend, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our whole trip. Let's start with the beef nachos. I've had a lot of nachos in my life, but these are on another level. The beef was incredibly flavorful--seasoned perfectly and piled on generously. Each chip was individually loaded instead of just dumping toppings on top, so every single bite had that perfect balance of crispy chip, melty cheese, tender beef, and fresh toppings. Do not skip these. I'm still thinking about them days later. For my main, I went with the shredded beef sandwich, and wow. The beef was so tender it practically fell apart, slow-cooked to perfection and piled high on what I think was a fresh-baked bun. It came with these seasoned fries that were crispy and well-salted. My partner got the enchiladas (also great), but honestly I couldn't stop stealing bites of my own sandwich. The view from the patio is ridiculous--you're looking straight at the Chisos Mountains while eating some of the best food in West Texas. The cocktail menu is legit too; the mezcal margarita paired perfectly with everything. Service was friendly and laid-back, exactly the vibe you want in Terlingua. A heads-up: it gets busy around sunset, so either show up early or be prepared to wait a bit. Totally worth it though. If you're in the Big Bend area, do yourself a favor and eat here. Get the beef nachos. Get the shredded beef sandwich. Thank me later.

The ambiance was old-fashioned (very cute), and our server has been super nice and friendly. The food, on the contrary, was a complete disappointment - spicy margaritas were just ok (not good and not bad); cilantro japalapeno soup had a good flavor but no cilantro or jalapeno was found in it, and it was not spicy at all. Carne asada was dry, overcooked and not fresh, and so was rosemary chicken dish - chicken was pan fried and a bit greasy, but at least fresh. Mashed potatoes were a couple days old and hard as a brick. Steak was overcooked, and we have returned it. The only reason I would give Reata three star is our awesome waitress - she has been the highlight of the experience.
