I live super close to this Dazbog location and I'm a very loyal customer. Even though they have some stiff competition with the Einstein's Bagels and Starbucks right across the street, they're much better. Starbucks is over-priced as well as not being the best tasting. Dazbog is way better in that category. The staff are always friendly and willing to help explain if necessary. I've had a very random amount of items here, but I've always been satisfied with them. I can honestly say that I've never had anything here that I didn't like, which is awesome. The prices are good as well, I never spend over $4 for a medium-sized coffee/specialty drink. I will definitely always be coming back as long as I live in this area! read more

The staff was nice. Coffee Quality... not so much. However my experience could have been better if I had not been sitting next to a creeper who was on a gay hook up web page. As I am trying to finish my deadline for work I also got many glances of naked men from his computer screen. As I could feel the creeper, creeping on me. I felt I should move spots. As I am sitting away from others with many open spots in the store, a young homeless women felt is okay to come sit right next to me. As she played with her iPad (homeless and iPads don't usually mix) but who am I to judge. She kept trying to talk to me I had to explain to her I have a very important deadline to meet. I normally would be working from home, however my internet was down. I would recommend if you want a chill place to do some work or have coffee without the same kind of crowd. I'd recommend St. Marks Coffee. Chill, Fun, Young to Older crowed. Usually people with a life and things to do. Never in my life would I see someone looking of a hookup there. read more

Right up front, it's only fair to admit I almost never get coffee at Dazbog. I'm there for the free WiFi. And sure, that might make it kinda strange that I'm doing a coffeehouse review. But while I can't speak for most of the products, I do spend a lot of time at this particular Dazbog and I'm always treated great. I have gotten just a regular coffee on a few occasions, and it's fine. More often I'll get a Vitamin Water or a Diet Coke. With the latter, the baristas are always quick to offer a cup filled with ice, which I appreciate. I'm the type to spend several hours working on my netbook at a coffeeshop, while maybe buying a couple of cheap beverages over that span. But Dazbog's staff has no problem with that whatsoever. (I do tip at least a buck or two, depending on how often I'm there or ask for the bathroom key.) The staff at the 9th and Downing coffeehouse is really friendly, down to every single person. I haven't interacted with one who's not cool and personable. I really love this store for the people that work there. Derek is a riot, Michael is a sweet heart, and Vince is pretty awesome too. Chillers are great for hot summer days and they never have a problem letting you get crazy with flavored syrup combinations (i.e. Vanilla Bean Chiller w/ cherry and almond or Chai Chiller w/ a shot of espresso... MMM!!) I also love their Iced Americano or Iced Red Eye White Night. The only thing I really don't like there is the tea. The bag is always awkward and messy and the tea always tastes over-steeped even if you leave it in for about a minute. Their food is pretty good. Breggo's are fantastic, and they just changed the type of breakfast burritos they get and I really like the new ones. Other than that they have your general pastry/bagel fare. Good location. Good employees. If you're a guy, prepare to be undressed with the eyes of 90% of the other patrons. read more

This place has everything a good coffee shop should have: great location, decent lighting, LOTS of seating, nice baristas. I visited this location last night while waiting for a friend in the area to get off work. Thru the window, I could see that the place was busy, and I was sure I'd never find a seat. Much to my surprise, I got a seat right by the window, where I could people watch! Since it was evening, I avoided the caffeine beverages and ordered a hot cocoa. I was quite impressed. Most of the time when you get hot cocoa at a coffee shop, they make it with a powder, and you can tell. This was the smoothest and creamiest hot cocoa I've ever had. It was rich, and sweet, but not too sweet. All in all, the perfect cup of cocoa. I can't wait to come back and try their coffee, and maybe a smoothie! read more

Two words: fourberry smoothie. Seriously, talk about some d-lish drinks at this Dazbog. Ok, so maybe they have the same stuff at every location but this one is in da hood. It's close, it's easy, it's open for a good chunk of the day so you can get you some stuff done. I think each and every chair in this place is made out of wood which means it's not made for comfort. But, at least there is plenty of room for reading, writing and people watching. There's not one but TWO patios for your outdoor seating enjoyment. Boom! There's a decent selection of munchies including burritos, cookies and muffins. As I am not a coffee drinker I can't comment on that but the teas are always solid and as stated above the smoothies are where it's at! For the most par service is efficient although I have encountered a few scatter brained baristas. So they forgot what they were doing - is that cause to call the National Guard or bash them on Yelp? Nope, I'll just detract one little star. As a local hang out for those of us who like to live in the midst of the world this is a solid place to do so. I like to read the crazy postings on the bulletin board by the bathrooms. If nothing else you'll know where you can get guitar lessons. read more

Great location, friendly service, great coffee and free wifi.. perhaps my favorite thing about this location is the group of elderly gentleman who congregate and read the paper while sipping their coffee in the mornings. It makes me miss my grandfather and feel nostalgic. read more

This is probably my favorite coffee place in the area. The baristas/counter people are really great and seem to enjoy what they're doing. This Dazbog is also pretty consistent. Their espresso is tasty and I can be as happy with a latte as I am with a sugary bad-for-me drink. They also have a few "lighter sized" pastries for $1.25....because sometimes you don't need something huge. I like having that option. They also offer Breggos. Breggos and ice-blended chillers are the stuff morning hangovers are made of. read more

Not only is their coffee delicious, but their customer service is beyond wonderful. I stepped on some glass on the sidewalk (not their property) and walked into Dazbog very freaked out and bleeding. The two men working behind the counter (Wednesday, August 1st, AM) were extremely kind and helpful. They lent me first aid supplies, cleaned up the glass (again, not on their property) and poured me a cup of coffee. They went above and beyond and I'm very grateful. I like to frequent non-chain establishments whenever possible, but 75 percent of the time I want to get some work done at a coffee shop, I end up at the Daz Bog on E. 9th. I've basically lived here during my job search. It's always bustling, but not overly crowded. It's never a hassle to find a seat. I get the Coffee of the Day (a large is $2.11 with tax) and I've never been disappointed. I can't really comment on their specialty coffees or teas or food, though. All the baristas I've encountered are friendly and smiling, there's little-to-no pretentiousness here. I also like that it's right next to King Soopers so I can pick up groceries on the way home. It's everything you want from a polished chain coffee shop. The WiFi is spotty at best -- it seems to cut off once every hour or so for five minutes at a time. When it's working, it's pretty fast for a coffee shop. But it sucks to finish a job application, hit send, and then have the "Page Unable to Load" screen come up. The afternoon sun is brutal coming through the windows, which is nice if you're reading a book, but really frustrating if you're using a computer. Finally, the sidewalk outside seems to be a haven for solicitors from Greenpeace, the ACLU, etc. Kind of annoying when you're just trying to walk into the coffee shop. Not really anything Daz Bog can do about it, I guess. read more

These folks are on point. I had to get coffee for 20 volunteers at 6:30 in the morning. Even though they only opened at six, the employees had the order together and ready by the time I got there- not only the coffee but also a whole 1/2 quart of half and half and sugars. Dazbog is the local (Russian-local?) chain that beats starbucks hands down. Sure, it is not the quality of NOVO or anything, but it is not bad. Their iced chai latte is quite good, if a bit sweet, and they have some interesting drink concoctions. Usually people take time to mention the people watching here and at the king soopers across the way... Me thinks denverites are a bit starved for interesting people and/or anyone not wearing patagonia. read more

So I know that there are several of these. I am not sure how the others are. This particular spot is nice. The staff is really the best part. I always get great service. It's rare anymore, and should be noticed. The coffee is obviously also very good. My only comment, and this is to the company, is that the logo and such is a bit too...aggressive...for my taste. I understand the etymology of the word, but I still find it a bit intimidating. I suppose I gravitate more towards earthy, soothing tones. I'm not sure if there are others out there who get what I'm talking about. But this would be my only comment. read more

Oh My Universe. I usually go a little out of the way to the one off of Colorado and Cherry Creek on my way to work. I was actually headed downtown and trying to get to the one I see off of the freeway after passing Alameda on 25. When I saw the 9th street address come up on my mobile Yelp, I figured that was the one. Well, it ended up being off of Downing and 9th which is even more awesome because it is on the route to work. If you are in south Denver/ Englewood on South Downing, this is a great find! Dazbog here has great parking in its own lot and on the street. There is a great patio, shaded by big old trees, and the interior has plenty of seating too. People come and camp out with their laptops, and the iced coffees are delicious! read more

A good, busy coffee shop with big windows, outside seating, and friendly staff that is missing the food, music and true independence I require in giving 5 stars to a coffee shop. Also, the internet can be spotty, almost making me drop it to 2 stars, but it's fast when it works. Overall, it's good coffee and a good place to sit for a little while while drinking it. It also must be mentioned that this is a predominantly gay coffee shop. When I moved here almost 2 years ago, I didn't realize I moved into "the gay neighborhood." Having lived in several other cities, I think my bar for how gay a neighborhood has to be in order to stand out may be a little higher than Denver's. That being said, this Dazbog location is what tipped me off about my neighborhood. It was one of those "man, there are a LOT of guys in here" moments. But it's not exclusively gay, and as a straight guy I find it has one of the most eclectic crowds for true city people watching, reaching beyond the standard college kid and hipster crowds. Since it's the closest coffee shop to me, I'll definitely keep coming back, though Pablo's and Buzz Cafe often get me to walk a little farther. read more

I'm so used to Starbucks that I'm kinda out of sorts here. Not THEIR fault. Good staff, clean restrooms (have to get a key, but it's easily placed), interesting environment and a good menu of drinks and food keep me coming back. On street parking is essential here (Don't be tempted to park in the King Soopers lot -- they have wicked parking trolls protective of their cement real estate). Dazbog is a nice coffee shop. So sad to visit a place that I used to love going when I lived in Denver that has gone to crap. The coffee was still good, but one guy behind the counter, who I think was some sort of manager, was talking really loudly about his night. Thats fine, but what really got me was that here he is, at work, representing a company, and in front of customers cussing up a storm and texting on his phone. Standing in line I overheard the barista and the customers in front of me chatting for a couple minutes before they were even asked what they wanted. This place used to be great -- over ten years ago when it was Diedrichs. The few times I have been in this shop, the men's bathroom has been out of order (you're not missing much, it's pretty disgusting. Instead of repairing things, like the urinal, they just remove them and leave ugly big patches in the wall.) Take a look at the floor and think to yourself -- if the floor is this disgusting in a public area, what must it look like in the back room, where customers CAN'T see? Most of the people who work here seem to be pretty nice -- however, the owners seem to be somewhat elitist and snobby. Don't bother with the pastries -- they're typically dry and stale. Do yourself a favor and visit the newly remodeled King Soopers Starbucks. You'll find better prices, better service, and won't wonder where your food has been before you saw it. read more

This is the home of my favorite sweet hot drink, the White Russian Chai. I like mine to be with three or four added shots of espresso for a little extra wake me up. I also love the new Breggos they have for breakfast. Sort of a breakfast burrito but served in a tasty roll. Probably no better for me than the White Russian Chai. Nice staff, always right with the orders and easy parking to make a quick run in. read more

This Dazbog was one of my favorite places to do work until recently when the ownership changed. Not only are the new owners less friendly than the sweethearts who owned it previously, but they charge nearly full price for refillls! Every other Dazbog I have been to, this one previously included, charges only 50 cents for a refill of iced coffee. If I'm at a coffee shop doing work, I am trying to pound iced coffee the whole time. And that's what I'll continue doing at another location - bc that Dazbog coffee is WHAT's UP!! read more

I come often and use the WiFi (which is mediocre at best). I always buy something when I'm there. However tonight ( 4/18/2013 ), I had to meet a deadline and was racing to meet it. The barista cut off the WiFi ten minutes early and I couldn't send the email. I don't think I'll be back. read more

New ownership? No thank you. This place has gone through a number of changes recently that is very disheartening. Most of the longtime employees (who were there for many years) were sadly let go a few months back & now there is a new owner. Not impressed so far. I ordered a hot green tea like I have for years at this location & the barista was confused as to what I wanted. No big deal; just had to re-clarify that I wanted a large green tea, hot, with nothing in it. She thought I wanted something mixed in there or something. Ok; not a big deal. So, I've ordered & paid for a large green tea, to-go & I'm given a medium size. I brought this up to the barista, saying I wanted a large & she said that that was the large size for a tea & it always has been. Wrong. I've ordered the same thing here for years & was always given the exact size that I've ordered. I inquired as to the price per cup size (if I was paying for a large, shouldn't I receive a large?) but was told, abrasively since the tea I wanted was organic the price was $3 and some change. Why would the size of the cup matter when it comes to hot water? There is a disconnect here, & not just in their service & pricing. The atmosphere inside has changed a lot. It does not feel friendly or have a nice vibe like it used to. A neighborhood coffee joint should be welcoming, inviting & comfortable. This place does not even come close to any of those things. I will go to Starbucks at Queen Soopers, Novo down on 6th or anywhere else in the neighborhood until this place changes hands again or (& I hate to say it), Starbucks moves in. Denver has some good neighborhood coffee shops and none good enough to drive across town for. This has been one of my favs and retained my loyalties even though the original very hip owner sold out. The location is good for people going or coming from downtown, it's always got a happening scene including a singles table for the guys and corner spots for laptops. The outdoor seating is great, the coffee is better than Starbucks and the staff is absolutely friendly and professional. They make it a point to be welcoming to everyone, and I mean even weirdos like me. That is worth the price of a cup of coffee. read more
