I am a bit of an apple fritter fanatic, these rate as highly as any I've had. Warm with a nice crunch on the outside and soft on the inside. I can't speak for the other doughnuts except the warm doughnut holes she threw in for FREE were melt in your mouth light texture, far better than any Duncan Doughnuts. Very good donuts at a reasonable price and a good selection. The strawberry-glazed cake donut (with pink icing, per natch) was especially good and they even included some free donut holes with my order. Obviously a family-owned business and they care about having repeat customers. I have not tried the savory pastries yet but they look very tasty, also. They're small and you have to look for their shop because it's in a little strip mall on the eastern side of Main Street and I don't think they're open very late--maybe to four or six at the most? The glazed with chocolate frosting and peanuts and the blueberry cake were Really good! It is a bit of a hike to get there, they are a little off the beaten path. But well worth it! I'm sad that I just realized I've never reviewed this place! Without a doubt, the BEST donuts in town. My first job in town was Dunkin' Donuts, 20 years ago (when they were made fresh, and TASTED fresh...). These blow all other donuts out of the water (even when DD was tastier 20 years ago.). I like to try new restaurants and I saw this open a few years ago, so I decided to give it a try. It's in a little strip center, near a Tax place and a Hair place (to buy it, not cut it). Not a very... upscale... area of town. When I walked in, I was really questioning myself. It's basic inside, with a few tables, a refrigerated cooler for drinks and a bakery case. No decor on the walls. Menu on the wall is very basic. Display case very disorganized (all the cake varieties on one large tray, rather than a tray for each variety, like other donut places). BUT... I think my original purchase was a Cinnamon Twist and a Maple Long John filled with white cream. Came out to about two and a half bucks. Okay, so it's affordable. BUt how do they taste? Holy Schneiky! They are fantastic! Light, fresh, fried correctly. They are amazing. I couldn't stop raving about them all day! Now, I go back at least once a week or so, for my Friday Treat Breakfast before work. I love that they fill your shell to order (like a Long John or Boston Creme donut) - they have about 10 different choices of fillings. I love that they throw in a little donut hole as a treat. I love - now that I'm familiar with the place - love that they aren't fancy or ostentatious. That would make the donuts cost more! The owners are wonderful people too, though quiet, since they don't seem to have a very good grasp of the language (I believe they are Cambodian). I have been there twice so far, both times after 4. The donuts were still moist and delicious. I had a sour cream donut the first go and a donut twist and apple fritter the second. (Each time I wish I had bought more. Yum.) The owners are super nice and threw in some extra donut holes each visit. This hole-in-the-wall popped up on Main Street and my wife and I stopped by on a Saturday morning while we were waiting on an appointment elsewhere. I grabbed a chocolate glazed, she got a creme filled donut. As others have noted, the filling is put in the donut after you order. The donuts were very good (better than what you usually get at Dunkin Donuts), and the price was super cheap (how are they going to keep the lights on?!). He even threw in some free donut holes. The cinnamon sugar one was the most airy, melt-in-your-mouth donut of the cinnamon kind-- by far the best I have ever tried. And, over the years, I've tried my favorite donut at many establishments. The light, soft donut caved upon every bite-- just an excellent donut! Rumor has it the 2nd one was equally extraordinary, if that's even possible:) The prices on all donut offerings are the lowest in town, the regular staffer (female) is sweet, & this is one donut shop where you're able to select your donut filling from quite a few offerings. The clock had a full parking lot, so we decided to try here, what a lovely twist of fate. this place had the best kolache bread I have ever had.(I am used to the famous Czech stop in West outside of Dallas Tx.) We went in for Kolaches, I ordered a long john. When we ordered a Cappuccino he apologized for having forgot to turn the Machine on. (was not a big deal they have plenty of cold drinks to choose from) The Customer service was out of this world, we also got an apple fritter and some donut holes. The glaze they use is soooo flavorful and delicious, the fritter it's self was perfectly crisp around the edges and nice and moist in the center. If you haven't been here your missing out. Love this place. Their fritters are the Best by far in Gainesville! Promise. This is not a fancy place... but everything is fresh and delicious. And they always put a couple donut holes in the bag, free. I will say their coffee is not good bordering on poor. Although located in a dumpy strip mall, we wanted to give Daylight Donuts a shot because of their good Yelp reviews and because every other breakfast place in Gainesville is a zoo on Sunday morning. The people who run the restaurant are very nice but speak very little English. I asked for cheddar cheese and he brought out a stack of American Cheese slices and told me they were cheddar. So I had a croissant sandwich with America cheese and a donut. I watched the chef microwave the entire sandwich inside the to-go bag. The sandwich was awful but the donuts were good.
