Their location may not be ideal, but this place has the BEST Chinese Food I've eaten in the Hudson Valley. Hands down. My family has been coming here my entire life and I've introduced many friends and family to it who've been instantly converted as well. The staff is AMAZING. They are always very hospitable, attentive, and friendly. Their foyer wall is plastered with photos of customers and they seem genuinely excited to see us every time we go. We've taken large parties (10+) and never had to wait for a table or wondered when our food was going to arrive. All of the food is super fresh, your water glass will never be more than half empty before it gets refilled, and you'll leave with enough leftovers to have for lunch the next day- all for a VERY reasonable price. We honestly look for excuses to venture to Walden (of which there are very few) so we can justify eating at Daxxon. read more

After recently moving to Walden, it's been hard to find decent food options. I decided to give Daxxon a try after the numerous good reviews, only to be very disappointed. I ordered the General Tso's chicken, crab rangoons, and a pint of veggie lo mein. My chicken was actually very good. The pork fried rice that came with it, actually tasted rancid. I had a few more bites to make sure, and I felt like I was going to be sick. The rangoons were obviously previously frozen. The lo mein, while tasting okay, was uber greasy and at this point I just didn't want any more of my food. Which was a shame because I paid about $25 for all of the above. Went here with some friends this week and got to try some new things (spice of life). Shrimp toast, wonton soup, scallion pancake, hot and sour soup, crab Rangoon, tso chicken, everything fried rice. Shrimp toast was new to me, tasty but I don't love shrimp so.. The scallion pancake was a bit doughy but still tasty nonetheless. Wonton soup was light in flavor but good. Im not a fan of hot and sour soup but tried it anyway, still not. :) Crab rangoon surprised me, it was tasty and cheesy, hmm. Tso Chicken was really good, I recommend it. (It is not something I usually order, but this was good). The Everything fried rice: shrimp, pork, chicken was tasty, I only ate the chicken, but the overall flavor was quite enjoyable. Ok, so heres the dish. The lo mein has gone downhill along with all the other regular "to go" items (re: chicken and broccoli, general tsao's, sesame chicken, crab rangoon...etc.). However, the lesser known entrees such as Ho Fun, mei fun, chow mein and the ZOMBIE cocktail are sure to entertain your taste buds. I know this family so perhaps I'm a bit biased, but my bff and I skipped economics more often than we went to have lunch here or sat for hours at a time being entertained by the wily staff and Betty telling us stories about the restaurants beginnings. Eat in and get to know the staff, they'll tell you what's best from the chef and hand you a pair of chopsticks. Meh, something has changed at Daxxon and the food is going down hill. This place used to be great but the last time I got vegetable fried rice there was nothing but onions and egg in it. The portions seemed to have shrunk as well and be careful asking for extra soy sauce because you'll get an attitude. I'm pretty disappointed in the changes. I have grown up on Daxxon, seeing as it was right down the street basically. Food used to be amazing, nowadays it seems to be a hit and miss, we think certain days they change cooks and that could be the reason. Despite that, service is friendly, they always ask the regulars about life and whats new. And food is still good. My favorite thing to order: Scallion pancakes... try it out! I have to **update** this... something has changed since I wrote this review... as mentioned above, not sure if its a cook, management or what, but the more recent times we've ordered from here, its been really bad.. it's really kinda sad. read more

What can I say... This is a greasy Chinese take-out in a small town with an attached dining room. The food isn't bad, but it's not great either. If you're looking for authentic cuisine, this isn't it. The food here is Americanized Chinese food, and certainly not aimed at Chinese-American clientele. They've got standard take-out fare like General Tso's chicken (spelled "Tao's" here) and it's done pretty well. I was excited to see scallion pancakes on the menu, but I thought they were a bit tough and too thick. Also not enough scallions. The Hot and Sour Soup was good, but not spectacular. The shrimp toast was tasty, but I found their eggrolls to be greasy and a bit too chewy. Overall not bad, but not my cup of tea either. read more

We used to go to a different local place but now that we've discovered daxxon we won't go anywhere else. Prices are a little high but you get great quality food. I do think the portions could be a little bigger but it's delicious. Eating in is a wonderful experience too. Our kids love their homemade crispy noodles and duck sauce. The staff is amazing as well. The few times I've gone there the food is expensive and the last time almost killed my mother. We ordered our food with EGG rolls. Every time I've ordered egg rolls, they have had SHRIMP in them. My mom is deathly allergic to seafood. Thankfully I bit into mine first and realized I bit a shrimp so I smacked it out of her hand before it reached her mouth. When I called to ask them why shrimp was in our EGG rolls, I was told "we only serve Shrimp rolls, no egg rolls" Needless to say I won't be going back! read more

New ownership (sometime in 2017-2018). Unfortunately nothing about our last visit here convinced us to ever come back. The wanton soup wonton's were hard and not completely done, the sesame chicken tasted like it was cooked in pineapple sweetener and the tea was overly bitter. Excellent food, excellent service. Order the duck! I got the warshu duck but it was a special so I'm not sure if it'll be on the menu when you read this. Still, it was prepared perfectly. Fatty but buttery soft and not chewy. I also got the hot and sour soup which was a good size for the price and better than a lot of places, and the crab rangoon which was pretty good but I'm from Missouri and it's never as good on the coasts. I live near walden and have been going here for years. The owners always greet us at the door and exclaim how they haven't see us in years! I like the cleanliness of the restaurant and the fact that the service is always incredibly efficient. If you have to get in and out quickly, this is your place. I usually get the sub gum war bar and its great! Any of the combinations are great and the prices are very low. In this day of $5 beers at restaurants, this place has very reasonable alcohol prices as well. Try their healthy menu as well, the food is still tasty without all the msg and other bad stuff. The best part about Daxxon is that the owners are always on the premises. I think this translates to good service and good food. read more

After several really good take out menu items, the majority of food that my wife and I ordered on 11/17/2017 was disgusting. The Beef Chow Mein smelled awful and tasted the same. The Chicken Lo Mein was flavorless and you needed a microscope to find the chicken. In the previous order, there was no chicken at all. We mentioned that when we called and there was no attempt to make it right. My Chicken Noodle soup was very good and was packed with noodles but not much chicken. The wings were also very good. My wife ordered Kung Pao Chicken and she said it was not good. Not sure what happened, perhaps one of the kids did the cooking but this was a waste of money, period. We used to really enjoy Daxxon, the food was great the people were really friendly. Im not sure if there is new owners or not but I seemed to annoy the girl behind the front desk who was reading a book when I asked her for extra sauce, she rudely said it was 4 dollars extra and when I looked surprised she said I didn't have to get it, which I thought was unnecessary. i'm going with four stars based on the average of the three dishes i ordered.. the boneless spare ribs were the best i have ever eaten.. so they garner six or seven stars on their own. hands down. - no mystery pink hued meat. just fantastic, i will order them every time. the pork lo mein was good. it didn't knock my socks off like the spare ribs but it did not disappoint in the least. .. which is a nice segue into the saddest part of my order; the crab rangoon. the crab/cream cheese quasi ravioli were greasier than normal and they had a bit too much dough for my likes. i won't ever order them again. all in all i was very happy to find a quality sit down chinese food restaurant in my new town. ~$25 for the meal. read more

Been eating here for over 10 years. The original owners have recently (from the looks of the new staff and new quality of food) handed the business over. Would have given them a higher rating if i was writing this 2 years ago. Egg rolls arent as crispy and filled as they used to be. Fried rice had some burnt portions. I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. Having just moved up from Westchester, and hearing that it was hard to find good Chinese food in this area, I am now reassured. I went in with my husband during lunch time - the lunch specials are a very good value. I had the Kung Pao shrimp, and thoroughly enjoyed it. He really liked the chicken with broccoli and garlic sauce. Their brown rice was impressively good, too. I think we found our new go-to for Chinese! :) read more

If I could rate the restaurant lower than 1 star I would. I don't know what happened, if it was new ownership or lack of customers, but this restaurant has fallen to the lowest it could. A couple years ago this restaurant was superb and had really good customer service and meals. I walked into this restaurant with my family recently and there was little, to no one there. We get seated and it takes the staff 20 minutes to even get our drink orders. Once the drinks come back, we order a food, and we wait almost an hour for COLD food to come out. Even after such bad customer service we left a reasonable tip on the table for our waiter/waitress. We walked out the door only to be literally chased into the parking lot by staff because our tip WASNT enough for them? Ridiculous. I do not recommend this restaurant anymore. This placed used to serve killer Chinese food 5 years or so ago but, the last few times we've gone...eh, no so much. We went on Christmas Day this past holiday season and everything was ok, just ok BUT hubby's sweet and sour soup [for whatever reason and I'm not kidding one bit here] smelled exactly like cow manure. It was the strangest thing. Maybe that's what sweet & sour soup smells like when it has turned bad. It was certainly a Christmas dinner we won't forget in terms of the laugh factor. Yeah, we'll go back for the steamed veggies and whatever protein we decided to have them toss in but we'll pass on that soup! There is a bar but it's a crap shoot as far as ordering a drink. I'm from NYC and everytime I visit the area, Daxxon is the place to be! I love the shrimp toast and crab ragoon for starters! The General Tsao is a must order entree. Staff are very friendly, the place never dissapoints. I have not tried any bar drinks but they carry Pistacchio ice cream for desset :-) read more

It's a run-of-the-mill Chinese food place. Yes, they have a restaurant inside but the bulk of their business, like any decent Chinese place in the Northeast, comes from take-out orders. Their Lo Mein is good, just don't get the chicken one. Avoid the seafood, but thats a given at any small Chinese place, really. It's a good eat if you get home late and don't feel like cooking. I often eat at this restaurant more than 20 years ago when I was still working at Thruway Market. The food was good back then. I went there couple of times during the past few years, it wasn't good but not that bad. Everyone I know says that this is a good restaurant. However, I just eat there last Sunday during late lunch (around 2:30 PM). The food was horrible. Not just me, but my wife was saying it as well. The food was too salty and looking fresh. The portion of the food is big but placed on a small oval disk. It looks like a mountain. Not looking attractive at all. My daughter spilled the food when began eating. The service was very good by CHINESE RESTAURANT standard. But I have to mention that the waiter spilled soup on my wife sleeve because he was lazy.
