Almond and custard cups, cherry and apple turnovers.
Tom E.

"Like my parents, I will be baking for you...from my family to yours..." - Dawn A friend of our niece moderates a TikTok foodie page. In our day's Sunnyslope business, our niece took us to Kris Frybread. Arriving we saw Dawn's. She said Dawn's gets high ratings too. After our excellent Kris meal I made my way to Dawn's. I am infamous in the family for my dessert rxtravagance. But I share with all at our table. Take your choice! Our niece got cannoli, I got lidded shortbread custard cups, vanilla and almond. Sweet D got a cherry and an apple turnover delivered into the box. It is five days later. My sugar intake has dropped a lot. In our home baking we cut sugar ingredients by half. Older Hopi bakers put in enough sugar for a hint of sweet in their cookies. Modern bakers glaze them. I'll take those traditional ones. When I say the shortbread cup with custard was too sweet for me, that's my 21st century palate speaking. The almond cup was a buy-again item for me, still sweet, very almond. The cherry turnover was flaky, the filling tart, oozing fillng and cherries. The gold medal, blue ribbon "I'd buy this again, for sure is the apple turnover. We will return for some more flaky, apple-y goodness. The webpage makes mymouth water. I see many items are normal and mini sized. Great idea Dawn.

Easter Bunny sugar cookies

Finally! Got myself over to Dawn's to try some goodies. The easter bunny sugar cookies- amazing. So fresh!! Best bakery i've had in Phoenix! I want to order a cake to try from here next I tried so many different items and everything was fresh. Everything tasted great. I can't wait to try more different items. I'll try to look at the names next time.

Cannoli Cake

Special order for a cannoli cake and cupcakes for my daughters Birthday. The cake was AMAZING!! True New York style cannoli cake! Special instructions followed and excelled! The cupcakes were huge compared to what I thought it would be! Also purchased Italian cookies, and several other pastries while I was there- pricing was extremely reasonable- quality A++ and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff?? Top notch! I drove here from Gilbert, and it was DEFINITELY worth the trip! We will be back!!

Ordered a cherry pie for Christmas. Came to pick it up today... and was immediately overwhelmed by all the beautiful pastries and desserts! Oh my... if you want something sweet... this is the place. The employees are so helpful and nice. My birthday is in January and I can't wait to come and get my cake!!

Cheesecake with strawberries
Shel N' Tom K.

We just put our forks down from devouring Dawns cheesecake and WOW! It's my husband's birthday and I called to order a strawberry cheesecake as cheesecake is his favorite. Hands down BEST cheesecake we have had...even better than the ones in NY!! Creamy, yet firm, sweet but not overly sweet. Perfection! Bakery staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and we will be back! 5 star all the way!!! Yum!!!!

Just a PORTION of frosting from HALF of the yule log
Teresa E.

This is a sugar dump. Everything is way too sweet. I just bought a yule log. I ended up cutting it up to fit it in the fridge. Just got through taking off ALL THE EXTRA SWEET frosting off of this cake. In addition to all the sugar in the frosting and cake, this yule log also had jelly in it. There was more frosting and jelly than cake. This yule log is approximately 10" long. The frosting thst I removed from HALF of this log was over 10 ounces. It was actually closer to 13 ounces but I didn't safe the first purge. Anyone who knows me, knows I have a sweet tooth, but there comes a time that it becomes gross. This bakery consistently crosses that line. I was in a pinch and ended up wasting money. These pictures are of half the yule log sliced, the frosting pile removed and weighed and what little cake was left.

"Just a taste"
Susan A.

This is a dangerous place! When I spotted this bakery, I thought I would just pick up a small cake or pie for dessert that night (family was coming for dinner). Upon entering, it immediately reminded me of the Italian bakeries I knew on the East coast especially when I saw the selection of delectable goodies--various pastries, muffins, Danish, cookies, etc. It was hard to contain myself and I left with a box of different items. Everyone liked the selection but there was one delectable layered chocolate cake item (I think they called it Radiowave) that everyone wanted more of. A lot of care and good quality ingredients go into their products. While some might think they are pricey, I'm noticing it's not that much cheaper to do homemade these days--especially with the price of chocolate so I am happy to pay for something perfect. I appreciated the friendly service and good suggestions and cannot wait to come back and taste some of the things I missed.

They have plenty of seats and tables, plus games if you have a group of friends or you're with family. Customer service was great. I ordered the confetti vanilla cupcake, which was really good. They also have ice cream and milkshakes, which I'll definitely try next time. Parking is easy, and if you have a sweet tooth, this is a great place to check out. I'll definitely be back!

I got the peach cobbler cupcake, which was almost $7, and for that price I was definitely expecting more. The texture was honestly so strange. The outside was dry and crumbly, while the inside had this really dense, gummy/doughy texture. Somehow it was dry and doughy at the same time. There were actual pieces of peach in it, but I could barely taste any peach flavor. Overall, it just didn't have much flavor at all. I'm not sure if it was specifically the flavor I chose or if it's because I'm not really used to vegan baked goods. I can definitely appreciate that they offer options for people who are vegan, have allergies, or have certain dietary restrictions and still want to satisfy their sweet tooth. But for me personally, the taste and quality just didn't justify paying almost $7 for one cupcake. The customer service didn't really help the experience either. Since it was my first time, I asked the girl at the front what their best sellers were and what she recommended. I was genuinely trying to make conversation and get some guidance on what I should try, but she wasn't very helpful or engaging. It honestly felt like I was talking to a wall. Overall, it's a cute spot and I appreciate what they offer for people with dietary restrictions, but between the price, texture, lack of flavor, and customer service, it just wasn't for me.

We've worked our way through what feels like almost the entire dessert case over the years, and I can honestly say I've yet to find something I didn't love. Every pastry is beautifully crafted, incredibly fresh, and tastes like it was made with so much care. This visit was all about the cannoli, and let me just say... craving officially satisfied! The shell had that perfect crisp snap, while the filling was silky, rich, and just the right amount of sweet. It was everything I had been dreaming about and then some. Walking into The Sicilian Baker always feels like stepping into a little slice of Italy. Between the gorgeous display of desserts and the irresistible aroma of fresh pastries, it's nearly impossible to leave with just one treat (don't say I didn't warn you! ). Whether you're stopping in for a post-dinner dessert, celebrating something special, or simply giving in to a sweet tooth like I did, this place is absolutely worth the visit. Every dessert we've tried has been phenomenal, and this cannoli was another delicious reminder of why we keep coming back. Sweet craving? Check. Happiness? Double check.

I went before deciding that the cheese twist is one of my favorite pastries to get there - salty, cheesy goodness - so that's not included in the photo but I definitely recommend that one for people that enjoy the flavor profile. First time trying a dubai chocolate dessert here - it was tasty but I'm not sure it was worth the $6, nothing groundbreaking about it. I accidentally got the almond pastry because it looks almost identical to the cheese one I wanted, but it was still good. Pastry franks are nice options for if you want something savory, buttery, and garlicky but be warned that it is also a little sweet.

My one large issue is that there are no refills for simple iced tea! This is Arizona, people. And if I'm spending over $4 for a small iced tea, which probably cost this company under twenty cents to make- include a top off. Simple customer happiness factor. Maybe tie it to a rewards account or whatever coffee shops do, fine. But asking me to pay for a whole second drink? Ridiculous.
