We used to have Perkins in central Ohio. I thought I remembered seeing them, but not sure if…read morethey're here at all anymore. I was on my way back from the Saturday stages in Newport for the Overmountain Rally Tennessee and being that it was after 10pm, basically my options were fast food or nothing. I was facing a lot of 'closes soon' on the restaurant lookup but saw Perkins was open until midnight. Dead tired, I pulled in about 11, chatted with the equally tired waitress about suggestions, and decided on a Belgian waffle, eggs over medium, bacon, and a pair of strawberry cream fried roll things I forget what they called them. The place was pretty empty that late at night, with only a few tables taken up. It was well lit and mercifully quiet. Everything showed up in about 5 minutes. The waffle was great, the syrup didn't taste fake, there was just enough butter, eggs were exactly as I asked, and the bacon was likewise as crispy as I wanted. Maybe I was starving, since I don't eat much when I'm on the stage for the whole day, but either way it was really good. The strawberry cream things, I only ate half of one. It was a better version of the ones they have at McDonald's. The only thing taking a star from this is that I couldn't get one strawberry and one apple. I did take them with me and ate them for breakfast the next morning. They were still good despite not being refrigerated. I'll probably be back again next year after another long Saturday.

She asked what we wanted to drink and I stated that we were ready to place our order. She abruptly stated drinks first. Okay, not a problem. Then, it took a while to get the food, and they were not that busy. I had turkey/dressing/mashed potatoes/broccoli. The potatoes first, were not real like they use to be, and second cold. Yes, I could have sent them back but why would cold food be delivered. As well, the stuffing was cold. Hubby ordered the steak/peppers and stated his was not that warm either. In zooming by we got asked if everything was okay but I'm not sure we would have had time to answer. So, yes, I could have said something but no, I did not because I shouldn't have to wait for my food to be taken and reheated so I could eat it. This is probably our last Perkins visit. It has really gone downhill.

Okay, four stars is generous for this place. I give almost all of it for the burger. We went in for…read morea Beyond Burger (a treat which is well made by, it seems, most Hardee's) and fries. The service was fair but not terribly friendly. The burger was excellent! But, the fries were bloody awful. They had obviously been in the heater for..oh, I'd say, about three weeks. They were dry, stale and probably recooked or reheated several times. No burger joint manager worth his or her salt would ever try to press such rubbish onto a trusting public. I reiterate, the service was sub par and the fries were inedible; but the burger was very good. Blountville is a nice little town. The local inhabitants should be given a better fry accounting than is offered by Hardee's. But, the burger was really, really good!

One of the few places I can eat while on the road is Hardee's. I have food allergies and they can…read moremake gluten-free french fries and a lettuce wrap burger. I drive thousands of miles a month. In this instance I called ahead from the interstate to make sure that they were open and that they would serve lunch at 10:30. The lady I talked to said yes, they would serve at 10:30. It took me about 15 minutes to get there and I waited in the parking lot for 30 minutes for them to stop serving breakfast. I walked in at 10:35 just to be on the safe side and give them time to change over. After standing in there for a couple of minutes while they chitchatted someone did finally ask me if I was ready to order. I asked for a burger and I was told that I could not get lunch yet, that it would be at least another 15 to 20 minutes. I left frustrated because by the time I get back on the interstate I've spent an hour and still don't have lunch. I have to get to my destination before bad weather hits. I was already stretching it at waiting an extra 30 minutes for them to open. I even explained to them before I left that I waited in the parking lot for 30 minutes for them to start serving lunch. I was told that there was nothing they could do. The drive-through is empty and other than the five or six employees I was the only one in the restaurant. With no clear understanding of why I couldn't get lunch at 10:35 I called shortly after leaving the parking lot because I would like an explanation in case this happens again somewhere else and I was told that had he known I came off the interstate and waited in the parking lot 30 minutes he would've served me lunch anyway. I'm not sure what their food is like, I'd say on par with the rest of the Hardee's and the place looked clean but I'm giving them a zero for service.
